  1. Right. He has two kids. Do you think they might have been a bit anxious knowing there were intruders at their home every night? If true, the people putting up signs under the cover of darkness are the ones that need to "grow a set" and do it in the daylight.
  2. Marty's the next Dick Butkus.
  3. I agree that racism is an undesirable but real part of our society. I also believe that it is FAR more prevalent than any crime stats will ever show. Moreover, I believe that there are many non-racists in our society. What do you think is the cause of racism? What do you think the solution(s) is/are? How do we help the non-racists win over time?
  4. Mike Martz can't even get out of the Buffalo airport one time every eighth year without whining. You expect him to do it 10 times a year?
  5. I agree with part of that and disagree with other parts. I don't think the Bills were setting Mularkey up so that he could fail. I thihnk they genuinly wanted to win with him and that Marv would have given him fair shot in the truest sense (meaning he would not be looking for miracles, but a sense of confidence in Mularkey's program). The coaches that were already let go, for the most parrt, needed to be let go. I agree that we are presently in chaos and that Marv has his work cut out for him. If he chooses a head coach well, we will be ok; albeit with an adjustment period. I think that Mularkey would have undergone his own adjustment period being under a new management with a new staff anyway. He may have pulled this off, but it was far from certain. It would be a difficult circumstance for anyone. I hope that the family thing is the typical smokescreen but my guess is that it is real. With some reports (Mora Jr.'s example) already out there, it is likely there are more. He may have simply chosen his family's sanity over his football career's progress. If so, good for him and shame on Buffalo. There is no excuse for abusing someone's children over a friggin football team. I disagree that we will look back longingly at TD. While he did have strong points such as projecting a professional image, he also had weak points. Five years is a long time in the NFL to emerge with a 5-11 record whatever the excuses. Even so, I think he would have held his job if he had projected a little friendlier face over the years. This year, he repeatedly said things like "believe me....we all feel worse about this than the fans." To me, it didn't ring true. I'm just one person but I didn't get a feel from Donahoe that he really had any empathy for how much the fans in Buffalo really want to win. It has always been the community's team. TD seemed to take an approach that said "We're the pros from Dover. Sit back and watch us deliver a top notch team to this community." I never got the sense that the team and community were one and the same. TD is not wholly to blame for this, but he is partly to blame. He seemed to try to do some things to communicate (Ask the GM) but in the end, they seemed cookie cutter and contrived. Marv will not have this problem.
  6. Do you think Ralph's up or down on the HoF is based on 2005? The last 6 years? Really?
  7. I've heard from a number of sources at OBD (I can't name them) that we have our eye on an unreal QB prospect. 3 years ago there was a very highly touted HS QB that was recruited by ALL the top schools. His name is Brent Schufflof. He went for 1 year to Austin Peay because his mom fell ill and it is near his home. His dad had left the family 3 years before. After his freshman year his mom died and he had to work his way through school and tend to his two younger siblings. They are now safely in college and his dad is back in the picture. He is eligible for the draft. He is WAY under the radar. We are likely to get him in the 5th if he is not the subject of some press article hyping him. Keep your eyes open.
  8. Was that serious or sarcastic? I can't decide whether I think it was stupid or lame. Your reply will help me determine my feelings. Thanks in advance.
  9. Mickey will be two doors down on the left.
  10. Do you think you were obvious enough with the sarcasm this time? That Manning thread had some legs.
  11. That's a stiff penalty for a change in marketing tactics..
  12. Kiss the wife and kiddies, tell them you'll see them in two years and run out to CVS to stock up on soap on a rope because this thread has annoyed me terribly.
  13. It's splitting hairs I know, but how on earth does Holcomb get credit for the KC win?
  14. Sooner or later, you have to use absolutes. On defense, maybe I can give him a pass to a degree. Adams was a good move at a great price. His drafts have been pretty marginal but his options weren't always there. His handling of Schoebel has been terrific. Kelsay, Denney, Edwards...not so much. He knew when he let Pat go our season was at risk. granted the price to keep him was high. I'm not really with you on the O-Line. His drafts have been quantity, not quality. Over five years he has not drafted one true OL stud. Williams fooled the whole league...not TD's fault, but still no stud. Here's where I disagree strongly. It is far from just the press that gives evidence of a less than harmonious enterprise. I have heard negative stories about TD from the press, Ralph (by inference...."we need to be united"), Marv, the combine, former front office employees, former players, agents, and fans. Individually they are easily dismissed, not collectively. Additionally, the team had two of its top five or 6 players walk away from the team. That ain't good. I thought we were all raving lunatic idiots.
  15. Before every Sabres game they will anounce the return of Blue and Gold.
  16. Out of curiosity, why should Donahoe have kept his job? If he did, what should have been expected of him and the team in 06 for him to keep it again? From my point of view there are two major factors to be considered. The first is on the field results. The results there are undeniable. There may be mitigating factors (excuses). I can buy some of them, but not all. The failure to address the line(s) is real tough to look past for me. Even so, I can say "if this and if that...things would be better". The second factor is general team and franchise attitude. Granted, we don't know everything about this but what we can see is ugly. Unhappy players is not a good sign, nor is the general vibe of the front office(if you believe various press accounts). What is/was the case for keeping him in your eyes?
  17. from the article: Oooh. I bet they're scared.
  18. and take the promises of blue and gold with you
  19. Mortenson is making sense? How so? By stating that TD was blameless in all of this? TD didn't even say that. You can criticize Ralph all you want. Maybe he is making a bad move. If so, it is far from clear cut. Maybe TD is well liked and respected by everyone as much as he is by his toadie CM. Maybe Dwight Adams is jealous. Maybe his silly coaching choices had really really bad luck. Maybe Gandy/Bennie/Teague/Vill/MW were stellar line personnel after a 5 year build up. (Then again maybe a monkey and a dart board would have a better line by now.) Maybe Ralph couldn't see these tremendously positive factors. Calling Ralph an idiot is ridiculous. He wants to win a Super Bowl. He is 87. He obviously felt that TD was not going to win him a Super Bowl in his remaining days. Do you see anything in TD's record here that refutes that notion? You called him an idiot and said it has nothing to do with age. He must have been an idiot then too, right?
  20. An idiot who bought a 20k investement now worth hundreds of millions? Okey dokey. Clearly his age has had an impact. Talk to us all when you're 87. You may or may not like him for lots of reasons, but this post is uncalled for unless your name is Chris Mortenson.
  21. Incumbency will be hard to overcome but I don't agree about the war/Abramoff. Anything can happen between now and November in the war. To me, the most likely scenario(s) probably would favor the Republicans or at least not leave the Dems many good options. With that said, I think the war itself may diminish in importance as an election issue. I do think that the Abramoff thing will get bigger. It has to. The war may become a "neutral" issue thus elevating Abramoff's importance. It may turn out the JA influenced members of both parties but most will be repubs. That can't help. It may not translate to a bunch of seats thanks to districting, but it will surely mean a few incumbents have to leave. It will likely mean more freshman congressman (via primary and general elections). Doubt about incumbents may not help the dems, but it can't hurt.
