Does anyone else here think that MM
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I'm just old school on this one. It'd be hard to imagine Jim Kelly or Thurman Thomas yucking it up like that after one of the worst performances in recent memory. Shake hands say "hey, how ya doin", but for God sakes the ear to ear grin irks me after that kind of beat down. -
...after last weeks game he was caught laughing it up with the Buc players? I know if I were the head coach and I saw that on film I'd get more than a little ticked off. McGahee just got his lunch handed to him and he didn't seem to have a care in the world.

The struggles of JP and the Buffalo offense
1billsfan replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the team should rip it up with passing the first series or two. Why? Because I have absolutely no faith that our team can have any kind of success running the ball with 8 or 9 men on the line of scrimmage. You say we have a mauling line, I don't think we do. I definately wouldn't call Teague, Anderson, Gandy or Williams maulers. Our only offensive success came when they let JP and the receivers get into a grove early which set up McGahee's big day. Last week? They let JP toss it around after he was benched and they got going again. We do not have a mauling line so we must make teams pay for crowding the line to open up the running game. -
Will the real Bills team please stand up!

LET HIM THROW THE ROCK!!

52 times is ridiculous. I think the Bills should have 50-50 run/pass attack. This offense will not begin to move until we start completing some long passes. -

I've been saying it all week dude. We simply don't have the offensive line to be a consistent power rushing team that can grind out 1st down after 1st down. Our second best offensive weapon is Lee Evans and to ignore what he can do when putting together a game plan is foolish. -
we could easily be alone on top

So now the Buffalo Bills beating the Atlanta Falcons is an easy task? Truly unbelievable. -
I'm laughing at these blow out predictions especially after last weeks putrid performance. When's the last time the Buffalo Bills even beat a team of Atlanta's caliber?
-
Just because our line averages 327 doesn't mean they're good enough to employ the power rushing identity. Power rushing teams need a very good offensive line, not neccessarily just a big one. I don't think our line is talented enough to be a consistent power rushing team. This team needs big plays to make it go. I wish we had a mean and nasty line to make the power rush go, but we don't. The pass, run and opportunistic defense is what made us take off in the second half of last season and it's what will eventually be the key to it's success this year.

Willis eating humble pie this week
1billsfan replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As soon as I heard them making such statements I had a sick feeling the Bucs were going to make them eat their words. The Bills and their players boasting to the media have never made for a winning combination. Keep it to yourself and just talk about how awesome the other team is if your pressed for a comment, that is something I wish they'd finally get. -
WOW! This backhanded compliment should get Moulds

This is what's been Eric's biggest problem. It seems like he drops as many balls as he's caught the last couple years. Too bad JP can't even thread the needle right now to even give him a chance. I do think this offense will start putting up big points come mid season. The learning curve for this offense is gonna be a b-i-t-c-h though. -
Willis eating humble pie this week
1billsfan replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully there's enough humble pie left for the greatest defense ever. -
I see 3 main things the Bills need to have: 1. They need to have Moulds and Evans become productive members of the offense early in the game. Atlanta will be keying on the run 100% in the first quarter after seeing JP's errant throws in Tampa on film. To get the running game on track we have to connect on some passes to the wideouts for big gainers. I know there'll be a lot of naysayers to this one but I think we're screwed without getting teams to back off Willis. 2. They need to have the defense get a couple of turnovers to shorten the field for the offense. 3. They need to have no turnovers themselves. If these 3 things happen the Bills will be 2-1.

You hit the nail on the head. I was laughing at their proclamations last week. Why can't this team ever learn to STFU? When's the last time you were in the playoffs??????? Less talking, more tackling.
-
It wasn't that they just had a loss. It's that every phase had it's butt handed to them. The QB, OL, RB, DL, LB, coaching, even our punter sucked! I'm having a really hard time seeing us winning next week. You're only as good as your last game, so if it was a fluke then prove it and beat the Atlanta Falcons.
-
This is the biggest problem with the Bills. They play small when it counts.
-
Not converting on 3rd downs was the main problem.
-
MINN and SF played worse than us. That's it.
-
I disagree. This butt whoping was completely avoidable. This is a veteran team, they had no business feeling all warm and fussy about themselves. The defense should have shut up about how good they felt they were and the coaching staff should have used they're supposed "creative" minds to avoid the Tampa rush (ie. Screens, QB draws, sprint rollouts). The Bills played small and scared against beatable team. Don't count on teams feeling intimidated by the Buffalo Bills anytime soon now. In my eyes the team and coaching staff took a couple of steps waaay back.

Everyone Relax.......We're Doomed!!
1billsfan replied to R. Rich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every time we face a team that is "intimidating" we run away and hide. Examples of this are the Patriots, Raiders, Ravens and Tampa Bay. Until we can go into one of these "intimidating" venues and kick their butt we'll be no more than an average team. The sad part is we all know that we have the talent, but it seems we lack the cahonas to get it done. This is the main reason I thought we'd probably lose to the bucs. Hopefully they'll get tired of being wimps in these situations, win a few of these tough road games and catapult themselves into one of the top teams in the NFL. However, I'm not feeling too confident right now about them achieving that lofty goal. -
The way I saw it, the reason we couldn't get the power running game going was the fact that we couldn't complete any third down pass plays. They did give it to Willis in the first quarter and I think power running was the plan, but you still have to be able to convert the third and 5's. JP seemed too rattled to throw an accurate pass. Maybe that was the beginning of the end for our chances.

After watching last week's and today's game I've come to realization that we need to get our supposed "great" tandum of Moulds and Evans the ball. 6 field goals and 1 touchdown by an offensive lineman is making me more than a little nervous after two games. Is anyone else concern about the microscopic production from these two guys? I'm hoping that Malarkey will put an emphasis on getting them the ball next week. Atlanta will no doubt key on stopping the run so I'm hoping JP, Eric and Lee will make them pay. Go deep early and often, then bring down the hammer.
-
They used the dreaded vanilla offense attack against a top notch defense. No screens, no sprint roll-outs, no spreading the field. Play calling had a lot to do with the horrible offense today. Let's keep running up the middle and hope the defense gets the ball. Obviously didn't work. Let's try to win it against the Falcons and not play like a bunch of you-know-whats with the play calls.
