  1. Newsflash...the Miami Dolphins lone big acquisition last season was that QB no one in the league cared too much about, Chad Pennington... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/12136-m...-fail-to-excite As you can see from this article dated March 7th, 2008, the rest of their signings was nothing to write home about. The moral of this story is that all you need is good coaching and a decent QB to turn around a team that went 1-16 the year before. It gets better than that though, they got rid of their two most productive players in Taylor and Thomas! So to paraphrase..."it's the coaching (and QBing) stupid", not the big ticket FA players. We must not lose focus on what the true failure of this team is.
  2. If they had a good head coach I would predict a 9-7 record. Unfortunately we still have Dick Jauron so I predicting a 5 or less win record with that schedule. There was good reason why Bills fans cursed the news that Jauron was coming back. We know what's ahead in 2009. Nothing like wasting another year of the talented young players on this team. I'm still angry I have to wait till 2010 and a brand new coach (after that loser's fired) for any semblance of hope for this team. I wanted him fired after the 2007 season, just think of how far along we could be by now if they had done that.
  3. These were Tom Brady's "weapons" during the Patriots 2001 Superbowl winning season... Troy Brown / 12 TDs in 8 years / 22 starts David Patten / 5 TDs in 4 years / 14 starts Jermaine Wiggins / 2 TDs in / 1 year / 2 starts The stats are what the players had done in the league prior to that 2001 season. My point is that sometimes it's the QB and the scheme that are the major problem. You're worried about Steve Johnson's ability to nail down the job, but to me he has proven he can catch hard thrown redzone touchdown passes with the game on the line and in a hostile building. What else does he need to prove? Maybe it is the Dick Jauron/Turk Shonert/Trent Edwards combo that is holding this team back. We all know that the gameplans have preshcool-like predictability. You need to take a long look at those stats and come to the realization that WR is NOT the problem with this team. Edwards needs to spread the ball around and trust in his receivers to win the battle. Jauron and Turk need to devise a gameplan that puts the opposing defense on their heels with unpredictability. We have plenty of talent at WR, you are pointing the finger at the wrong target. Just because the clowns over there think they need another receiver doesn't mean that's the case. Remember, they signed Jason Webster because they were too stupid to think Jabari Greer could be a starter. Not only was he starting quality, he was 5 times the CB Webster was.
  4. Ralph was too embarrassed to honestly point out the real culprit, you know...the clown he gave a three year contract extension to after the first six games of the season. Once Ralph knew he wasn't firing the coach and he was cornered with the obvious question of wtf is wrong with this team, he tried to play the "talent" card. I'm sorry, but it's obvious to me that the Bills should have beat both the Browns and 49ers at home and they should have also won at least 2 of their 6 divisional games. This team had 11-5 talent with the schedule they had and the 5-1 start. Just because the old guy said it doesn't mean he was telling the truth. The guy is a businessman at heart and was thinking about having to sell tickets for the 2009 season.
  5. I'll agree that there's nothing wrong with adding a cheap veteran WR for insurance, but if I'm the Bills I'm looking for one that will have no problem being on the bench if Johnson were to indeed win the job. A guy like B. Ingram or T. Holt. It'd be fun to watch that battle for the position, but if we had a real head coach that knew what he was doing, I see Johnson winning it hands down over both of those guys. I think Johnson was a steal and I hope they don't squash his chance in favor of a "play him because he's experienced" A-Train type situation. That is the loser Jauron way unfortunately.
  6. Steve Johnson is 6' 2". So you believe that Martin is the better receiver because he's two inches taller than Johnson???? In his very limited time on the field Johnson was able to grab 2 hard thrown touchdown passes both on the road and in cold weather conditions. Every receiver will drop a ball or two so holding that against him is ridiculous. If this inept coaching staff doesn't have confidence in him then they're the ones that don't belong here. At least Johnson performed under pressure, Jauron's been here three seasons and has proven that there should be zero confidence placed on his decision-making abilities. Quantifying the coaching staff's confidence levels means nothing to me. Jauron is a loser who knows little about who can play in this league and who can't. Which explains to me this needless search for a #2 receiver.
  7. Where were you when Steve Johnson was making these real TD grabs and not a lucky bounce like Martin's off of those two DBs? http://www.nfl.com/players/stevejohnson/profile?id=JOH673533 Seriously dude, take a look at the video of Johnson's touchdown catches and explain how Martin is better than him because he can grab a lucky bounce into his hands. What is wrong with you people? I swear this is the type of discussion behind the close doors at One Bills Drive and why we never get the draft right or FA acquisitions in the first place. They have no clue of who's a player and who's not a player. Please tell me why Martin is better based on that lucky bounce. Johnson is tough and has great hands, he should have been the starter all 2008 but since we have a moron for a head coach that never did materialize. I seriously can't wait until the 2010 season when the Bills will hopefully have a new coach that knows WHO to play and HOW to use them.
  8. Of course we want him to succeed. But saying that you want Dick Jauron to succeed is like saying you hope that Nancy Pelosi would stop looking like a crazy person. It simply ain't gonna happen.
  9. We know who you are, nice try Dick.
  10. Sorry, but it's idiotic to think that Dick Jauron is the next Bill Belichick just because Belichick lost 5 of his first 6 seasons as a head coach. The gap in the football intelligence of both men is the size of of the Grand Canyon.
  11. Are you serious with this? Do you honestly believe the Bills let Greer get away because they felt he wasn't really that good???? C'mon now, you don't believe that. FYI, you should go to Steve Johnsons player page at NFL.com and check out those 2 redzone touchdown catches (and isn't that what this team has been lacking since forever?) he had in his VERY LIMITED time on the field. If you can't see the fearless, Larry Fitzgerald "type" aggressiveness then you have as much of a clue as our head coach. He obviously isn't Larry Fitzgerald, but the guy is clearly tough and has GREAT hands. He is better than Coles right now. But the Bills will be clowns and overpay a name player past his prime when what they have is already a better option. This team is embarrassingly inept in the FO and coaching area. It's become a bad joke told over and over and over again.
  12. Aren't these the same Einsteins that felt that they desperately needed to sign Jason Webster because Jabari Greer wasn't ready? Sorry, but putting your faith in Dick Jauron's ability to properly evaluate football talent is like putting faith in Illinois politicians. For god sakes, the man is plain stupid. The fact that Chris Kelsay is still here pulling in that grand larceny sized paycheck is all you need to know about the decision-making ability at One Bills Drive. They said it!! So it must be true!!
  13. The Bills' loser head coach, his tired and predictable vanilla offensive and defensive schemes, and that tough schedule almost guarantees a 5 or less win season in 2009. This is the first time I've predicted such a low win total but that's how I see it regardless of who we draft or get in FA.
  14. With 1,696 players in the league there are bound to be a few exceptions. You can count on Maybin being a bust.
  15. Poz and Edwards??? Sorry, but both are on the path of being busts. I'll give you that they churn out very good offensive lineman. You got me on that. There are the exceptions as in Woodley and Barber, and Holmes, but for the most part Big Ten players suck in the NFL.
  16. IMO Crabtree is so good he'd be impossible to pass on. I mentioned in another thread about S. Johnson being the perfect fit at #2 WR, but the exception is if Crabtree fell. He's got HOF talent.
  17. The jackasses at One Bills Drive don't even realize that they already have their #2 receiver in Steven Johnson. The guy made two awesome redzone TDs catches towards the end of the season. He has great hands and feet, and is perfect for the possession receiver roll, but the Bills are addicted to bringing in new WRs and CBs I guess. It's comical how stupid they all are.
  18. Big ten players are hardly ever effective at the NFL level. Maybin would be a very bad and risky pick at #11. Which is why our stupid FO will probably end up picking him. Right now, this would be my pecking order at #11... Crabtree WR Raji DT Orakpo DE Brown DE Pettigrew TE Jackson DE
  19. You are kidding me, right???? Ever hear of a Bill named Anthony Thomas (aka A-Train)? Ever hear of a Bill named Jason Webster? Both Jackson and Greer were firmly planted below those two players I mentioned until injury forced that moron of a head coach's hands. Cole is hugely overrated, that's why no one wants him. Johnson is obviously not going to get his chance to be the next Greer or Jackson. The Bill have continuity all right, continuity of stupidity.
  20. Instead of throwing big money at an average reciever who's now over the age of 30, how about we let Steve Johnson take over the possession receiver duties. You know, the guy who caught two red zone touchdown passes with the defenders draped all over him. Yes, two touchdowns in the red zone! Isn't that what we've been waiting for??? The guy is tall, quick footed and has great hands... Check out the highlight videos on this link... http://www.nfl.com/players/stevejohnson/profile?id=JOH673533 Check out the feet, strength and catching ability... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj_6OZ7n6ao But this is the way of the Bills, keep their best and most talented players on the bench until injury forces the inept head coach's hand to actually play the guy (see Greer, Jackson). Coles is too short and old for him to give us anything more than Steve Johnson would give us. I think that if Johnson was given the full time starters job he'd have 8-10 touchdowns in 2009. They should have used that money to get one of those three defensive players the Giants just grabbed. The stupidity at One Bills Drive continues...
  21. I think that it was a throwaway statement that a foolish owner made after jumping the gun by giving a three year extention to one of the worst head coaches in league history. We all know that he'll have no choice but to fire Jauron after the 2009 season. The fans will revolt by slamming their wallets shut if Dick Jauron is kept after a five win or less season. I see a 5-11 record on the horizon and it's going to be an indictment on why coaching is so key to having a winning team or a losing team. I believe that there's plenty of talent here, I also believe Dick's schemes and gameday decision-making are so catastrophically bad that the players really have no legitimate shot of overcoming it. To put it simply, Ralph was full of s__t because he was too cheap to send Dick packing his bags, he couldn't admit his coach did indeed suck and he had to come up with an answer to the direct question.
  22. I think you're forgetting the fact that Ralph had already given Jauron an extension when he made that statement. I think that Ralph was trying desperately to save face with the bogus claim that there was not enough talent. I will always feel that given the schedule, the 5-1 start and their failure to win not even one divisional game was a clear indication that Ralph made a major mistake in giving Jauron that extension. Ralph had to say something and he certainly wasn't about to blame the coach he foolishly gave a three year deal too. He knows he made a mistake but he was too much of a cheapskate to do the right thing and fire the lifetime loser. The guy does have to try to sell tickets to the 2009 season.
  23. If given the head coaching job of the Pittsburgh Steelers, forever loser Dick Jauron would find a way to a 7-9 record. In 2008, the Buffalo Bills had one of the easiest schedules in their history, Brady was out from day one with an injury, the team had a 5-1 record and they still finished with a losing record. Dick Jauron's gawd awful gameplans and gameday decision-making were the main reason this team went 0-6 vs the AFC East and failed at home against the Browns and Niners. Fair???? How dare you. He should be on his knees thanking Ralph that he's still employed. The guy is not even defensive coordinator material. He's the luckiest NFL coach in the history of this league considering his having seven losing seasons out of eight total record. How fans like you can still muster sympathy for this loser is beyond me. We are going to have a horrible record this season and it will be because of an inept coach who uses kid gloves, not because of the players.
  24. Let me put this to you this way...if Bill Walsh were Trent Edwards' head coach and he had another clunker 2009 season like his clunker 2008 season, then Edwards would not be the starting Bills QB in 2010. Dick Jauron is the polar opposite of the ultimate task master Bill Walsh. Sorry if this is news to you, but Dick Jauron doesn't care about winning. All he cares about is that he feels that his players "try hard". Whatever the hell that means and all the while the measuring stick for this "trying hard" high standard is stuck somewhere up his @ss.
