  1. Because Jauron knows that he'd be in clear and present danger of losing his job during the season to one of his coordinators. In other words, Jauron must be the smartest man in the room. Just think of how scary a notion that is. We are so this upcoming season, it's not even funny.
  2. Well I'm not done piling on Jauron. In fact, I propose that Jauron was never even a good defensive coordinator. I went back and looked at the numbers and he seemed to only have one good season as the DC with the Jags (1998). During those years the Jags defenses regularly got blown out of the water after reaching the playoffs. Dick Jauron being a head coach for eight years is one of the biggest amazing mysteries the NFL has had to offer. The guy has only positional coaching skills yet he got by with being the nice guy and still gets by to this day. The guys on NFL Sirius radio refuse criticize him and give any caller who dares to do so a verbal beatdown. They always end up by saying something like "Bills fans are lucky to have a coach like Dick Jauron!" I kid you not. Dick Jauron turning the phrase "Nice guys finish last" on it's head in the NFL since 1999. Someone please argue with me why he has better than NFL positional coaching level skills.
  3. Jauron's lucky he isn't the owner of an unstable 200 pound monkey who loves the Bills. It's the classic bland, "try to sound on top of things but nothings really going to change" Dick Jauron interviews like that one that make me want to go on a monkey freaking rampage. If this was the interview Brown was describing as impressive then he should quit his job and become that guy who has to go into the monkey cages to pick up the poop.
  4. But there always was a trade off with Lynch and if the Bills weren't willing to deal with the trade off they would have never drafted him. The guy came from a very rough and tumble neighborhood. He's clearly not a perfect human being. However, the thinking that this will eventually escalate or start spiraling downward is bunk to me. BTW, if anyone could use the medicinal purposes of a big fat blunt it's Marshawn after seeing him get him beat up by four to five defenders every time he runs it up the gut. He's young, he'll learn and if he starts majorly screwing up the next couple of years he'll no doubt be gone. To me this is a 4 out of a possible 10 on the screw up meter.
  5. Don't you think there are levels of egregiousness in actions? Sitting in a car and doing some blunts with a few friends with a pistol in the trunk of a car is bad, but it's certainly not close to be of the level of slaughtering dogs for pleasure of beating down strippers and ordering hits on patrons of strip clubs. If you thought that Marshawn Lynch was going to be like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and their "Ken Doll" model behavior then you sir have been smoking waaaay too many blunts yourself. I pretty much expected a few incidents like this with Marshawn and I'm sure the Bills did as well. There was always going to be a tradeoff with Lynch. You people who are acting like this is surprising are being silly IMO. So far the trade off of bad behavior to on field production with Lynch is still way in the Bills favor. Did you honestly think that Marshawn wasn't going to get into some trouble from time to time? As long as it's of the non-violent variety, I can handle these dust ups. Philly fans forgave Allen Iverson for his car smoking gun toting immature incident like this one and we Bills fans should all eventually forgive Marshawn as well.
  6. Weren't we Bills fans counting on those bookend "boy scouts" Schoebel and Kelsay to live up to their new and improved and way over-inflated contracts? Sorry pal, I'd rather have a bad ass like Lynch who gets suspended every now and then, than those two pansies any day of the week. When the hell do we hold those two losers accountable for their two million dollars per sack output???? NFL football players (especially many of the good ones) all have a little crazy in them doing what they do for a living. So YES, I WILL wait until Lynch guns down a day care center with two uzis and a hail of bullets before I put down the pom poms. You guys are ridiculous with this. You might qualify to be a local sportswriter.
  7. Let me ask you a question Mr. Overreaction, when Bruce Smith was suspended for drug use and being arrested for driving blitzed out of his mind drunk, were you crying in your Buffalo Bills jammies clamoring for him to be traded? I'll go ahead and answer that one for you, NO you were not. Marshawn Lynch will get his one or two game suspension and then rightfully take Jackson's place in the lineup. Just like what happen when Bruce's fountain of stupidity overflowed. We're all big boys here, time to get over it and move on.
  8. Never said it was an excuse, just that his motives for having a gun be it legal or illegal are very understandable. You remind me of that deranged former prosecutor, Nancy Grace. Hang em, hang em! I love how you guys gloss over the potential of the cops' nefarious role here. It's very possible they were running roughshot all over Lynch's rights that night. Were they being responsible? Pulling over a Mercedes with three black guys in it with no reason (if this was indeed the case)? Watch it now, looks like your hypocrisy is showing again. So you think that Marshawn should avoid going back to the bad areas where his friends and family are located? Sorry, but that's where your argument breaks down. Marshawn seems like a very loyal cat which is probably why he never gives up on plays. Get off your high horse buddy and stop making a mountain out of a freaking mohill. OMG, NFL players have guns???? Holy crap!!!! Bunch of thugs!!!! Taylor and that DB from Denver are dead. They were shot dead. Sorry, but I give Marshawn plenty of slack getting caught carrying a loaded weapon.
  9. Amen! The Bills fans throwing Lynch under the bus for this frankly disgust me. Lynch was actually SHOT AT BEFORE with real bullets. This was BEFORE he became a rich well known NFL athlete and before Sean Taylor and that Bronco DB were buried six feet under. I'll be pissed if I find out this was an unprevoked search and that he was harassed because of his skin color and the expensive car he was driving. Bunch of suburban babies here who have no clue what it's like to be Lynch and know what it's like to be a victim of a shooting. I love Lynch and think he's the first REAL football player this team has seen since Kelly and the gang left the spotlight. Oh yeah, he's seems like a great guy with a huge heart too! This is not a big deal to me, the hit and run thing was much more serious of an occurance. I chalked that up to him being young and foolish in his decision-making. Give me 53 Marshawn Lynchs and I'd be very happy to root for the Bill thank you very much. Hey Marshawn, at least there's some here that actually get why you had a gun in your possession and still have your back. Now go get yourself a license or an armed body guard next time if you're going into a threatening area.
  10. Well Black people are at risk in certain neighborhoods as well. I see many stories on the news of racially motivated attacks against blacks in white neighborhoods in the New York/Tri-State area. My point was about the threat level Marshawn may have felt and his possible motivation for arming himself based on recent violent events which have happened to NFL players over the last few years.
  11. WTF???? What about rules and laws that the cops may in fact be not following? Maybe you are looking for an America police state were basic rights don't exist anymore. Lynch may be a freaking victim of racial profiling. But that clearly doesn't bother you in the least. That's not the problem here, is it. That the police may have pulled Lynch over because he is black and is riding in an expensive car is totally irrelevant in your high and mighty cherry picking world. You're being so clueless to how big of a targets these players have become. NFL players have DIED, almost DIED and threatened to DIE by bad guys who have guns while they weren't armed themselves. Does this somehow not sink in, where you can not at least have an ounce of understanding of the threat level the players who aren't from the cushy suburbs feel when they are visiting friends and family? It doesn't make Marshawn right, but you're completely wacked if you're branding him as some bad ass punk just because he had a gun in his trunk. If the NFL players were not targets and getting killed then I'd be on your side, but this is real life and death stuff we are discussing. It could be that both Lynch AND the cops were in the wrong here. Lynch was wrong legally, but I'm not for one second going to pretend I know for a fact that I wouldn't be carrying a gun (legally or illegally) for protection if I were in his 22 year old shoes. Lynch is one of the meager few Bills that actually looks like he LIKES to play football. He's made a big mistake in that hit and run and this one is also a mistake. But the guy seems like he is a real loyal and fun loving soul and I for one am willing to cut him some slack here. The NFL is obviously doing a piss poor job of giving their players the proper training and education on security given the track record of broken and dead bodies that have pilled up in recent years.
  12. If they suspend him for a few games, fine. He made a mistake. But you have to admit that an awful lot of NFL players have been at the business end of a gun, some have obviously died and it doesn't look as if the league is providing much guidance or protection for them. This is not a situation where you throw the guy out of the league for a bad decision because he was illegally providing protection for himself so is doesn't get killed from someone who wants his money and valuables. The league needs to intervene and do something because too many players have been shot, robbed and now are getting caught with illegal firearms for protection sake. What they should do is to give a date and tell all players with non registered guns to surrender them without repercussions. Going forward, those who want guns and would legally obtain a concealed licence can do so, those who can't get one would receive a stipend for an armed security guard when formally requested by the player, or the player can take of the armed security themselves. I provided a list of NFL players and gun incidences, this issue is clearly not going away especially in this very bad economy. It's only going to get worse. Your quick sound bite stuff doesn't cut it. This is clearly a growing problem with dire consequences on both sides.
  13. Oh you mean that symposium where they playact in a four star resort in front of a bunch of clueless 22 year olds???? There happens to be a REAL world out there where REAL fear of the outside world trumps bad acting... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3129406 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2716385 http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag...rs-richard.html http://philadelphia.about.com/b/2005/07/29...dougle-shot.htm http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3739206 http://www.emqb.com/rashard-mendenhall-robbed-at-gunpoint/ http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=...&id=5632067 The NFL needs to do more than a stupid and fake puppet show given to the rookies. The whole league obviously needs an intense training program regarding security issues and the proper means and methods of providing oneself with security. If you can't tell they're serious targets by reading the above stories then there's nothing more to discuss.
  14. He's a rich, young, famous, probably fearful NFL player who comes from a very bad neighborhood who's no doubt had little guidance from the NFL on how to handle his own security. Doesn't make it right, but it also doesn't make him someone you "throw the book at" either.
  15. I agree with most of what you said. There's obviously a disconnect with the amount of violence NFL players have been met with in recent years, the players need to feel protected, the laws of the land and the NFL's back turning on the issue. The NFL needs to do something more than saying "Hey, you're on your own fellas". They know the areas many are from and now with this huge economic downturn it's only a matter of time before another player is shot and maybe killed while being robbed. If I were Goodall I'd have a forum to generate ideas about how to address the issue of player's fear of being targets of people with very bad intentions.
  16. I haven't read this thread and don't know what the consensus opinion is here, but I've changed my stance on players and guns and why so many have them around. I used to think these guys should be thrown out of the league for their stupidity of carrying around loaded weapons...then came that Broncos DB who was killed, the Jags player who was shot and almost killed, Shawn Taylor was killed at home, Steve Smith was robbed at gun point. This is a threat level that many here do not understand. Add in the fact that the economy is in the tank, these players who everyone knows has globs of money are major targets. Does it make Marshawn right to break the law? No way. But I understand him and Plax's motives for wanting to feel more protected for the worst case scenario. It may sound dumb, but from where these guys are from and the amount of NFL players who have been shot (well yes, Plax stupidly did shoot himself but that's beside the point), I have come to understand the issue from the players viewpoint. Hopefully the NFL can have some kind of league wide forum on this because as long as players are young and feel as though their life is threatened when they leave the house, this issue is not going to go away. I'll be ticked off if they just throw the book at Marshawn. These players need a helping hand, not a backslap.
  17. My feelings on Trent Edwards future with the Bills are as follows... Given the stellar performances of Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan, Trent Edwards' third season is his "money" season. Trent Edwards needs to show us that he is "money" and will be here for a long time. The only offshoot excuse left is that the coaching does indeed suck. The line will be complete (no doubt we will get Mack, Unger or a real C through free agency), the RB situation will be complete and the receiver position will be complete. For those who say that we gave JP Losman more time, well yes we did but a major part of that mindset was because our line really sucked, the receiver position was poor with Peerless Price as the number 2, and McGahee only played well when he felt like it. Given those circumstances it was understandable to cut Losman some extended slack, obviously not anymore (and for those of you who said he sucked well take a bow because you were right). Now we have Trent Edwards going into his third season with a talented, veteran offense surrounding him. If he was truly going to ever put an indelible stamp as the unquestioned Bills starting QB for the next five to ten years then this 2009 season is it. Even bad coaching shouldn't be able to mask a franchise quality QB given the skilled players he will have at his disposal. I only hope that Trent realizes how important this season is to his football career and maybe not take the full 6 months of the offseason lollygaging on a California golf course. I guarantee you Brady and Manning's path to NFL success didn't include 6 months of tooling around in a golf cart. 2009 season...either play well or don't let the door hitchya on the way out.
  18. Yes he did, plus he's not a member of the AARP. Once you prove you can get the job done (even in a few game sample) at the receiver position then it usually doesn't all of a sudden go away. The problem is that even if the Bills drafted Eddie Royal or Brandon Marshall they'd still be on the freaking bench because their coach is an idiot who is so conservative and tightly wound that he wouldn't know a non-first or second round picked baller if he was hit over the head with one. The fact that Fred Jackson was playing behind Anthony Thomas and Jabarri Greer was playing behind Jason Webster is all you need to know about Dick's decision-making instincts as a head coach. A guy like Wes Welker would have NEVER got a shot as a Bills receiver. The head coach is too much of a simpleton to know who is good and who should be playing.
  19. Safe to say? Bo had one more touchdown than Fine who was a rookie. It's probably safe to say that Bo had a much better QB throwing to him and a lot more snaps than Derek did. Say no to Bo and yes to Derek.
  20. Exactly who's the "at least one" sure thing TE or WR veteran that you're talking about the Bills signing? Bo Scaife has never had more than 2 touchdowns in a season. Who's the receiver? Holt? Toomer? I'd rather have Fine and Johnson starting over any of these veteran guys because I'm convinced both would play at least as good if not better than any of those veteran players. Wouldn't it better serve the Bills to use that money to get a viable option at QB to backup our fragile starter? BTW, for every McCargo and Youboty mistake there's been a Greer, Jackson and Crowell who've developed into high quality players. The only difference is that it took injuries to force the hands of the jackass coaches to let those three players who actually had the talent play.
  21. Ralphie boy had to put the blame somewhere and considering he ignorantly extended the contract of one of the worst head coaches in NFL history he chose to point the finger at the players. So your argument is based on a falsehood. Dick Jauron, his coordinators and their schemes are all laughable. Fine and Johnson would have just as much success that Greer and Jackson had if they were just given the chance to succeed. I can see their talent, why can't these knuckleheads? Someone needs to tell the deranged and delusional owner of the Buffalo Bills that it's the coaching stupid.
  22. Derek Fine was a rookie last season. You need to have just a little bit of patience because it's rare a tight end is great right out of the box. Do you seriously think that Derek Fine, in his second season as a pro, can't do what Bo Scaife does? Why in the world would the Bills want to waste precious free agent dollars for a guy that they already possess? They'd be much better served to take that "Bo Scaife"' money and pool it with the money saved by cutting current useless players like Kelsay, Royal and Fowler and make a run at Julius Peppers. In any event, Bo and Derek are essentially the same player and the Bills do not need to throw money at guys they already have.
  23. What the heck's wrong with Derek Fine? Why couldn't he be our Dallas Clark? They have almost the exact same build. Fine looked very good when he was called upon. Both players had just 1 touchdown scored in their rookie season. Why couldn't Fine be the answer at tight end? I see no reason why he couldn't be a very good tight end of us. This team should give Fine the starting job and use the top draft selections for what is truly needed...a center, a defensive end, an outside linebacker and a defensive tackle. Give Fine the starting TE job and give Steve Johnson the starting #2 receiver job. I'm tired of the obsession over the tight end position on this board. http://www.nfl.com/players/derekfine/caree...ts?id=FIN197209 http://www.nfl.com/players/dallasclark/car...ts?id=CLA236596
  24. That doesn't say much for the intelligence level of this board. LT was on another level entirely than Bruce "it's all about me, play way past my prime to beat the sack record" Smith. Smith was great, LT was one of the greatest. It's as simple as that. I'm shocked at the results of this poll.
  25. You forgot the "Haloti Ngata Effect"...when you're disappointed that your team (The Buffalo Bills) bypasses the player you most want (Ngata) and reach for a strong safety (Whitner) and said player (Ngata) becomes one of the best and most dominating defensive tackles in the league while the player your team selected is merely an average player.
