Do you know why the Bills have been losing the time of possession this year? The Bills' poor run defense. Do you know how much it would limit the point production of the offense? Greatly. Did you know that the Bills rank 25th in turnovers? That's a factor. Do you know that the Bills have only 6 rushing touchdowns this year? That's not because of Fitzpatrick. Did you know that the Bills have faced 7 out of the 10 best NFL defenses? That's certainly a factor. Did you know that the Bills are 13th in TD passes even though they've faced the best NFL defenses with only 1 TD pass in their first 2 games? That's because of Fitpatrick. You think that Fitzpatrick has only played well in 3 or 4 games? If you think that then you're a moron.

Winning strategy for this week's game
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just think that the Dolphins would like nothing more than a slow plodding game to hide their total lack of a passing game. I also think that the Bills will be fighting an uphill battle with field position because of the Dolphins' punting game. They need to take the Pats approach to winning this game by spreading it out. Let's take the wraps off of Spiller and use him in the slot. Try to quickly put up 21 points in the first half. -
I know that the Bills are starting to do well running the football, however this week I think they need to save that for the 4th quarter when they have a big lead. The Dolphins have a HORRIBLE passing game but with a great punter who can boom the ball. Why give the Dolphins' offense a break with long time killing drives? If the Bills win the coin toss, they need to take the ball and try to score a quick 7 points using the spread passing attack. When the Dolphins crap out on offense and punt them back deep, the Bills need to try and score another quick 7 again with a spread passing attack. The winning strategy for this game is to make the Dolphins have to go to their passing game and expose it. They should not try ball control in the first half. Given the Dolphins' punter, I expect that the Bills will not have very good field position through the day. If the Dolphins are are forced into the passing game it's game over, hello blowout win. Another thing this will do is prepare them for the Patriots game the following week where they will no doubt need to throw a big number on the board to beat them.

This is getting ridiculous. So now we're becoming micro-critical and numbering specific poor Fitzpatrick passes in a game? Damn, these guys aren't robots. I'll bet Jim Kelly is so glad the internet wasn't around when he was playing. He was always good for a handfull of "WTF passes" a game. Especially earlier in his career. Bills fans need to start thanking their lucky stars Ryan Fitzpatrick is here, is the man, and is the QB who will bring the Bills all the way back to the glory days once again. In other words, get off his back until he really and truly DOES have a bad game.

These Are The Guys That Will Make The Difference
1billsfan replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't know if he fits our defense, but I heard some great things about Von Miller. He sounds like a serious baller. Could he be the Bills redemption for passing on Clay Matthews? -
NFL power rankings have to be the dumbest thing ever invented. This isn't college football. The NFL decides who the best is beginning in January using an actual playoff system. The only ranking that matters in the NFL is who wins the damn Superbowl. Coming in "second" sucks almost as bad as not getting in at all. Does anyone here actual care about the Bills theoretically being ranked "second" four years straight in the early nineties? Is it something you can really boast and feel good about? Think about it.
-
Drafting Newton over a stud defensive play maker would be the dumbest mover ever made by this franchise, and that's saying something.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2010/passing.htm Just click on the TD% header.
-
He's 7th in touchdown percentage which is probably the most important stat in gauging a QBs performance and production over a period of time.
-
I think they're about four or five good to great players short of a real run. To me, that isn't an insurmountable number. They have to get at least two of them in this coming draft.
-
The Bills would do well to copy the winning blueprint of the Giants.

Is Fitzpatrick a "franchise" quarterback in the mold of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or even Jim Kelly? Probably not. I see him as becoming more of a hybrid franchise quarterback in the mold of a Phil Simms. Part lunch pail, part star QB. A guy who's very good (but not great) at the most important skills sets of an NFL quarterback...arm, leadership, intelligence (ok, maybe we'll give him great here), confidence, competitiveness, decision-making, scrambling ability. A guy you could get 5 or 6 very solid years out of, and with a very good running game and a very good defense he could no doubt guide you to a couple of superbowls and even put up a monster superbowl-winning game like Phil did against the Broncos. If the Bills can find a big rock solid TE, we may already have the pieces in place on offense (crossing fingers on offensive line). The only thing left would be adding a few monster defenders through the upcoming drafts and free agency. I see this team as much closer to the big game than anyone here may think. I think that Fitzpatrick and the Bills finish off this season right by beating the fins, beating the pats and beating the jets. Yes I said it, they're going to beat the pats. You watch.

Offensive line much improved
1billsfan replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's due to three factors...run defense, lack of turnovers, and poor yards per carry. They have picked it up in all three phases and are winning the TOP now. -
Sanders is an idiot. He sounds like an idiot, he says idiotic things, he is the laughingstock of the NFL media world. Seriously. The Jets will be dead in the water if they still need that game. The amount of NYC pressure alone will take that frail team down let alone the fact that we have the better team. I'm going to that game and I can't believe that there's a very good chance the Jets will need it to get into the playoffs! I'm so psyched that our team will get the chance to literally bury the self-proclaimed "best team in the NFL". Priceless!

The Pats are not unstoppable. Rodney Harrison said that the way you beat the Pats is to play them straight up in man to man coverage. Brady and his recievers are so unbelievably locked into timed passes between the gaps of the zone, any zone. They must beg the Patriots to run the ball using 6 DBs as their base defense. They must blitz by sending some of these DBs to try to get to Brady from time to time. The Bills can do it. I think the Bills beat Miami and NY because they're flat out better than them. Why? Two words, Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Amazing statistical reflections
1billsfan replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't call him stupid, I said that his comparison was stupid. I rarely throw that word around here but I thought that this was a passive aggressive attempt at trying to persuade everyone into thinking that Fitzpatrick sucks. Just like the thread a couple of weeks ago telling everyone that Fitzpatrick was another Jay Feidler. The best way to deal with passive aggressiveness is by being blunt. If you're going to try that weak tactic around here then expect someone to call you out. Fitzpatrick is another Thigpen???? That comparison was stupid beyond belief. -

Fail. Your comparison is stupid. Thigpen was never a pocket passer. Fitzpatrick is 10 times better than Thigpen. -
1. The world is already laughing at us because of Obama. 2. Who cares what "the world" thinks about us.

His new book should be called "Why I Suck." "I have a scoop for you. I stole his act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and, to really throw people off, I did it before he did." ----Bill Hicks on Denis Leary's lifting of his material

Obama's Worst Moment...recently
1billsfan replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
...in San Francisco and New York City. -
Seriously, the more the liberals' heads spin over Palin, the more respect and admiration I gain for her. If in these next two years Obama continues to be the same disaster that he's been up until now, Americans will be storming the polls to vote for Palin over him.

Obama's Worst Moment...recently
1billsfan replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Isn't it amazing what a teleprompter, a few plagiarized speeches, a hackneyed generic slogan and a gullible general public can do? For as smart as Obama is supposed to be, he didn't know the proper pronunciation of "corpsmen". That's not good. This just in...Obama is a borderline idiot. He's been George Bush's biggest pr machine. After two short years of this disaster, people are now thinking Bush was a good president. Bush should send him a nice big present. -
Obama's Worst Moment...recently
1billsfan replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I hope the 57 million idiots who voted in this complete novice are happy. All of the worries and doubts about Obama have come true. The man is devoid of any leadership, managerial and executive skills. "Can you please clean up this mess for me Dad? I gotta go, my woman is calling." We have a president who's clearly in over his head. He's never really had a job where real work was required. Now that he has one he'd rather be golfing, watching sports or at a party somewhere. 57 million Americans were snowballed by soaring speeches, not bothering to look a centimeter deeper into his paper thin resume. Shameful. Now Americans have to endure another 25 months of being led by a half hearted amateur? That's just brilliant. -
I'm against tanking the last 4 games
1billsfan replied to Pilsner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What you fail to understand is that Fitzpatrick has turned the corner this year. His brain, talent and confidence have clearly all come into sync. 20 TDs in 10 games is the evidence of this. He's done this with little help from a running game. Bills rank 25th in rushing. He's done this with literally no help by having shortened fields due to turnovers. Bills rank 25th in turnovers. Yet he still has thrown 20 TDs in 10 games. As for clutch play... Bills scored 10 unanswered points (Fitzpatrick 17 yard TD pass to Evans, field goal) to tie the game in Baltimore and send it into overtime where a strip/fumble/no forward progress call is what cost them the game. Fitz threw 3 TD passes on the road against one of the NFL's best defenses in that game. In KC, Fitzpatrick authored a clutch 4th quarter drive ending with a TD pass to Johnson to send that game into overtime. A game which they would have won were in not for the second field goal miss. The Bills should have had 21 points and another overtime game against the Bears were it not for the missed PAT which had them chasing that point the rest of the game. All three TDs were directly linked to Fitzpatrick. One TD pass and the other two were set up near the goal line on long pass plays. That clutch play rap is total BS. This is a team game, he can not do it all. Even Eli's brother Peyton Manning can't do it all. As for the Eli comparison, give Fitzpatrick a very good offensive line where they can both run and pass block, and a defense that can terrorize the opposing QB just like the year the Giants won it all, the Bills will have a real shot to win the Superbowl. Some fans here have been brainwashed by 10 years of watching 2 all time greats in Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and think that the Bills should keep looking for a QB with perfect accuracy. Those players are once in a generation types. You should be thanking your lucky stars that we have found such a smart QB who knows how to get the ball into the end zone. I can totally see the Bills winning it all with Ryan at the helm. The Bills just need to use the Giants blueprint. Get a few defensive monsters and another offensive lineman and watch us kick some serious NFL butt.
