  1. QB - We finally have our franchise QB in Fitzpatrick. In a couple of years this team will be poised to win a Superbowl with this guy leading the way. I truly believe that. He's Buffalo's version of Drew Brees. Though he's not quite as accurate as Brees, he still averaged almost two TDs a game with virtually no substantial running game to speak of, and no TE. Tough, smart, throws TD passes through small windows…what's not to like? Enough with the insane talk of Cam Newton. Receivers - We have receivers coming out of our yin yang. Johnson, Evans, Parrish, Nelson, Roosevelt RBs - We have two really good backs that are the perfect complimentary combination of power and finesse. TEs - This is something we need to become a real powerhouse team. O Line - Solid group that needs one or two more behemoths away from a dominating group. D Line - We still need two solid players here to become dominating. This is where the 1st pick in the draft can fill one of those holes. LBs - We need two solid players here also to have a solid group. DBs - We are set here. Once we can get a few playmakers up front, these guys can start getting some easy interceptions. That's about seven players away, seems like it's doable that we can find 4 of them this offseason. Special Teams - This was a major disappointment, but this shouldn't be all that hard to become a positive force with all of the skilled return players that we have. Coaching - Chan Gailey has done a great job this season. Even though the record didn't show it, I see a team that's poised to take the next step. Players know their rolls, the locker room is gelling, you can see a team with a foundation to make a big rebound in 2011. The DC position could use a substantial upgrade. I just don't think Edwards can pull the same weight on defense that Gailey does with the offense. Final Note - This team needs to concentrate on getting a few playmakers on defense, a couple of behemoths for the O line to get the running game going, teach the skill guys to stop fighting for extra yards and hold onto the ball instead of getting it stripped from them, and to rip the ball from the opposing players. Stripping players of the ball is a league wide practice that will only continue to grow in popularity and the Bills need to start teaching their players to get down on the ground when they are surrounded. Getting two extra yards is not worth it fellas. I feel like we finally have a foundation of players. I feel like it's the mid-eighties again! Here's hoping that breakout "we have something serious brewing again" year comes in 2011!
  2. C'mon man. Did you see what happened to Derek Anderson? No player is going to yuck it up when you're on the wrong side of a blown out. This was not a real game dude. Feeing any misery over this one is just plain stupid. "Let's not get hurt," was the overall atmosphere. After the game there was an extended "love-in" between both teams.
  3. I find it very funny how fans here are taking turns wallowing in misery from yesterday. I was there at the game and I'm here to tell you, this one totally had preseason atmosphere to it. The fans were not cheering at all during this one until the fourth quarter when it was more of a "go get 'em team" type thing of sending their team off to the playoffs. There was no urgency of a real game, no intensity in the play on the field. It was a glorified practice game that both teams wanted to leave with happy and healthy. That's what I felt watching this game. Feel concern for what happened against the Patriots, but do not feel concerned about what happened yesterday. The play on the field was as friendly as the weather was good…and it was good. Happy #3 pick everybody!! We are FINALLY going to get a STUD DEFENSIVE PLAYER!!!!!
  4. The Bills' scrubs would all try to play hard and try to win the game and keep their spot on the roster for 2011. What is so hard to understand about that?
  5. Yeah, hemming and hawing about who's going to play and not play. Saying "all hands on deck" which is clear code that the scrubs are going to see a lot of action. Saying how a win would be nice but it's not important in the grand scheme of things. Actually saying the words "this is not a bye week," means that this IS a bye week for them and will be treated as such. Are you gullible much? C'mon man, as a Bills fan you should be smarter than that.
  6. So what about all of these playoff teams who will be sitting all their starters? They aren't playing to win the game. So there's "play to win" rules for one team and not the other? That's stupid. This is a glorified preseason game. Seeing it as anything different makes someone look either completely dumb or completely delusional. Period, end of story.
  7. It's so stupid to even play their starters against the Jets' backups it's not even funny. That wouldn't even be a win in my book. Does anyone here think that win against the Colts last year was a real one? It was basically a forfeit, which is what this weeks win will be. By doing this the Bills will ensure that they drop 4 to 5 draft slots for all seven rounds in the draft. I'm sure that the Jets actually would love the fact that they will lose but essentially win when the Bills will miss out on a guy that would provide havoc against their offense for the next ten years. The Bills' FO and coaching staff should get with the freaking program that this is NOT a real NFL game being played this weekend and treat it as such when the Jets pull their starters. If their backups win against the Jets backups then so be it, but don't insult the Bills' fans intelligence by trying to win with their starters against a bunch of second and third teamers.
  8. It's not even that I want, or that I'm rooting for them to lose, it's the playing of their starters against the Jets backups that will get me extremely upset. I have no problem winning the game with our backups against their backups. These guys are professionals and they have every reason to not want the Bills to have a higher draft slots for guys that could take their job away from them. How in the world could the local media not ask that question????? Hey dumbasses, this game is a glorified exhibition game and you don't even ask that question????
  9. Rex Ryan - This isn't a bye week (wink wink, but it really is) Chan Gailey - This is going to be a tough fought game against a division opponent (local Buffalo media are an embarrassment for not asking the obvious question of what Chan would do if the Jets pulled their starters). The Jets and their local media clearly could care less about this game while the Bills and the local media are in la la land treating it like it's going to be played like a real game. This is going to be Colts game v.2 and the Bills will probably try to win a meaningless game playing their starters against the Jets backups. If they do this the Bills should be prepared to be skewered by Bills fans come draft day when all of the elite players are off the board when their turn comes.
  10. The Bills can get the same kind of production from Fitzpatrick as the last three winning Superbowl quarterbacks…Brees, Rothlesberger and E. Manning. Give him a running game, a solid defense and a tight end and you'll see a Bills team that's ready to make a run at the Superbowl title. Picking Newton would set this franchise back another 10 years.
  11. My problem isn't with winning this game, it's with playing their starters vs backups in a vain and patronizing attempt to show improvement to fans. The Colts win last season was meaningless. Just like a Jet win vs their backups will be meaningless. Well maybe not meaningless, do you remember the name Patrick Willis? If the Bills do play their starters against the Jets' JV and win, I want to hear from you on draft day when guys like Fairley, Bowers and Dareus all go off the board before the Bills pick and we end up with the 5th rated defensive player in the draft. I'm going to this game and all I want to see is the Bills not try to pull another "Hey, look stupid Bills fans, we beat THE COLTS!" type of win. They should play it the way the Jets play it, it's their call. Whoever does play in it should play the game to win be it the varsity or JV.
  12. Any Bills fan who'd take any amount of pride what-so-ever in the Bills starters beating the Jets JV team is someone who's completely delusional and in need of getting their head examined. This is a glorified exhibition game. I'm going to be there and my only wish is that the Bills play to whichever level the Jets choose…JV or Varsity. Then let the chips fall where they may…win, lose or draw.
  13. This game ceased being a "real" game once the Jets wrapped up a playoff birth. If it's ok for a team like the Colts and Jets to pull their starters then it is ok for the other team to do so. What world do you live in when you think beating backups is changing the culture of losing???? It's the epitome of a meaningless, hollow win and anyone who thinks differently is either delusional or a simpleton. Playing the other team's backups with your starters is the one time when a win is NOT a win, it's a booby prize that only the mindless would take any sort of pride in. However the Jets want to play it is the way the Bills should play it. Starters or backups, it's their choice.
  14. Pulling your starters after the Jets have pulled their starters is NOT throwing the game. The game losses all meaning as soon as the first team pulls their starters. The Bills would prove their stupidity as an organization if they did what they did in the Colt game last year by winning a meaningless game against backups and screwing themselves out of an elite type player like Ndamukong Suh. Play this game however the Jets want to play it. DON'T try to insult the Bills fans by playing starters against backups again. There will be a huge backlash, especially come draft day if the dumbass Bills are sitting there at freaking 9th spot again watching future hall of famers being taken ahead of them.
  15. If the Jets play their starters then the Bills should play their starters too.
  16. Just like Dylan was the forbearer for rock and roll's rebellion songsmiths, Diamond was the forbearer for rock and roll's popular hits songsmiths. The yin and yang. You need to open your mind here. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's definition of Rock and Roll is about the entire fabric of the genre, not just a tunnel vision view. I happen to think that The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is very un-rock n roll in and of itself. To me, rock n roll is music about rebellion, angst and the general feeling of not fitting in to the establishment's society groups. A Hall of Fame flies in the face of that notion. The induction event itself has just such an icky "statesmen" feel to it.
  17. You guys are ridiculous. Here are Neil Diamond's contributions to rock and roll... I'm a Believer A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You Kentucky Woman Solitary Man Cherry, Cherry Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon Thank the Lord for the Night Time Sweet Caroline Holly Holy Red Red Wine Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show Cracklin' Rosie Song Sung Blue I Am...I Said America These are songs that have stood the test of time and he's one of the quintessential standard bearer of the American rock and roll singer songwriter. Get off your musical snobbish high horses already.
  18. …pull their starters also? Why guarantee losing the 4th overall pick by beating the Jets backups? What point would that prove? Any win would be the very definition of hollow and meaningless. Chan can just say that the reason he pulled them was that he already knows what he has in his current starters and there was no reason to prove a point by beating the Jet backups. Once the Jets made it an official exhibition game, the Bills were fine to play it that way also. This way there are no hurt feelings in the locker room and the Bills can play it the same way the Jets do without forcefully dropping themselves a spot or two or three in the first round of the draft. I normally say play to win, but this kind of game is too stupid to care if they do or not once the Jets bench all of their starters. Very interesting dilemma. BTW, I'm going to this game so I'm just upset the Jets no longer have a stake in this one.
  19. Pats 18 rushing touchdowns Bills 6 rushing touchdowns Pats 9 turnovers Bills 33 turnovers Seems the Bills should be able to solidify the offensive line which is good at both run and pass blocking this off season, right? Also, reducing turnovers should be a rather easy thing to fix, right? Although yesterday's game sucked, with the right puzzle pieces put in place and more focus be brought to protecting the ball, they should still be pretty good next year.
  20. At least these golden boy obsessed fans finally have something to B word about today. Unlike the other 10 games when he's been solid. I have a feeling that Fitzpatrick can fix the fumbling and dumb dumb dumb stupid throw problem that we saw yesterday. He put up a real stinker, but he's still the man for 2011.
  21. Not when you hand them the ball a half dozen times. Luckily stuff like that is correctable. Stuff that's not currently correctable (and will only be at draft and free agent time) is getting rolled by a midget running back. The turnovers and the run defense were the two problems (well, that and Whitner's usual laughable coverage). I'm trying not to overanalyze this one. With much better defensive players and a lot less bumbling and fumbling your way out of a competitive game, this team can still make a good run for the playoffs next year.
  22. Say what you will, but it certainly does provide Brady with some extra motivation. How much is the only question. These players are human. There's a reason why Belichick is best known for his paint-dryingly boring, "no bulletin board" material pressers, because what's the sense of stirring the pot? There is none. He knows some players get hot and bothered by what you say about them. Suggs just provided the Pats fuel for their fire. Again, how much is impossible to judge, but it sucks that he did say that because it'll be hard enough to win this game without anything negative being said about Brady. Michael Jordan was notorious for using the littlest things said as a huge motivation.
  23. Rex says, "it's a personal matter"... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/12/22/deadspin-rex-ryans-wife-foot-fetish-video-star/ Doesn't he know that congress repealed "Don't ask, don't tell"? Speaking of which, I find that it's much weirder that there are no gay players in the NFL. <sarcasm off>
  24. Oh great, it's hit profootballtalk... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/22/terrell-suggs-doesnt-think-tom-brady-is-a-pro-bowler/ Not only does it provide Brady motivation to play against Fitzpatrick's team, but the Pats' defense is sure going to have motivation to make plays against him too. I wish Suggs had kept his big trap shut till after our game this week.
  25. Dude, seriously?
