  1. It was a bunch of things, but getting blown out by 3 mediocre teams in a row tells me that the main issue which derailed this team during that three game stretch was mental toughness. They simply were not mentally present in those games.
  2. This team never recovered from the first Jets game. They simply did not have the mental toughness to handle such a "big game" loss. Then the injury situation kicked in and it was all over. From the Jet game on it seemed that there was always a mistake being made on offense that stopped drives. A dropped pass here, a missed throw there, a missed block, a penalty. These are simple things that just don't happen on the Pats or Packers. What this team needs to work on is their mental toughness. Hopefully they can add a couple of very good veteran free agent defensive players who know what to say and do after a big loss. That loss killed the whole team's confidence. If I were Chan, I'd tell them that confidence is 90% of the NFL game and that if they ever what to get to the top level they need to get over their disappointments, work twice as hard the next week and never again allow yourself to lose your confidence.
  3. I'd almost rather they go the way of selecting a guy like Riley as the final lock down player at the LT position with their first pick... ...then have Merriman and Barnett work some PR magic (and of course have Ralph open the checkbook) to get a couple of very good free agent LB vets in here to lock down the LB corps. Then the rest of the draft (rounds 2-7) could be used to work on adding much needed depth.
  4. Sorry for being a spoiler, but I saw it here... http://www.gbnreport.com/2012projection.html Video here (looks the part)... http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=84123&draftyear=2013&genpos=OT I thought I'd shake things up here...LOL All kidding aside, the Bills will be in a prime position to take a very good LT or OLB prospect from where they'll probably be selecting. Man would our offensive line be impressive if they took a big kid like that!
  5. The same things were said about Aaron Maybin. Spiller has looked very very good at times and shown some very special talents, that's why they need to give him the rock 75 times. We aren't going anywhere and Fitzpatrick looks like he's punch drunk throwing the ball. Give CJ the football!!!!
  6. I had high hopes for him and the start he had this season was ridiculous. I know he's had tough breaks like a horrible defense leading to him possibly pressing the issue, injuries to key team mates and big drops in crucial games but you've got to rise above these things. He's been so careless with the ball. What the heck happened to that "off the charts" guy at the beginning of this season! What a weird season. I know it's off topic, but I hope the Bills give Spiller 75 carries these last few weeks. Enough with giving Choice the ball. This team is so stupid.
  7. I've been a huge fan of Fitzpatrick's, but if he continues his downward spiral (or even if he's just merely ok) even I'll be looking at the QB position in this next draft. If the reason he's been so shaky is because he's playing injured then the Bills should sit him and level with the fans so we can at least understand what happened to the guy playing so awesome the first part of the season. With that being said, the Bills will no doubt be picking around the 8-12 range. My question is, given the parameters of a healthy Fitzpatrick not looking good these final three games, what would you be comfortable with the Bills giving up to get to the #3 selection with someone like the Rams to get RG III? If he looks as good as advertised going into the draft, the most I could think of doing is 2012 1st, 2nd...2013 1st and 2nd. That's a hefty price, but I really believe that's the type of decision the Bills will be facing. It could possibly cost even more. I don't even know if I'd pull the trigger on the trade I just proposed. If Fitzpatrick doesn't look very good from here on out then I would be very interested to know what their thoughts were draft-wize of this RG III guy. BTW, I'm fine going with best LT or LB! I just was wondering how badly we want a franchise QB, because the price is gonna be very very high.
  8. I said to hire someone like them as a consultant (for most likely only a few months). I'm fully aware that Buffalo is not going to get any "big name" person to take over the operations for any sort of extended period of time.
  9. How about putting touchbacks at the 25 or 30 yard line? That would even out the kickoff team's current built in advantage so if they wanted to pin them deep they'd have to work for it.
  10. Unfortunately, that will be a hefty price. We're talking something like trading the Rams our 2012 1st and 2nd and 2013 1st and 2nd. It could be worth it if he's a true franchise guy, but that's what we're looking at. I agree with them that the Jaguars (with a new head coach) are going to dump Gabbert and pick another 1st round QB. There will probably be about four or five teams looking for a QB ahead of the Bills.
  11. I don't trust Nix anymore. The Spiller pick and Gailey's 4-12 and soon to be 5-11 season tells me that he completely blew two of the biggest decisions he's had as the Bills GM. I really would like to have a guy like Parcells come in as a consultant. He has a lot of connections and might know of a hidden college coach gem who'd be willing to take on this head coaching challenge. Plus, I'd like to know what his opinion is of the roster moves he'd make. Advice from a NFL team builder of this magnitude would be well worth the hefty charge.
  12. You mean the guy who if he were the GM of the Carolina Panthers would have taken Blaine Gabbert over Cam Newton? No thanks. Mayock lost all credibility with his man love of Gabbert. What the Bills should do is fire Nix and Gailey, promote Whaley as GM and have him hire a football consultant like Parcells or Dungy to provide an outside opinion of what the needs are to get this team back to winning again.
  13. This kind of collapse supersedes the waiting "one more year" option. This collapse is epic.
  14. Forget just Edwards. Why not fire Nix, Gailey and Edwards after the Bills lose to Miami this Sunday.
  15. I know I'll be flamed for this, but I just don't care. I have to get this off my chest. I really don't want the Bills to have to blow it all up once again. I want as easy and simple of a transition as possible. The reason is because the Bills do have some really good pieces already in place and with a good draft and free agency period, they should be playoff ready. But they need a new head coach. Chan Gailey simply is the offensive version of Dick Jauron. A very good career NFL coordinator but someone who simply does not have the connectability, instincts, drive, personality and passion needed in today's game with today's players. Has it been all Chan fault? No, injuries haven't helped, but Gailey is definitely part of the problem. A few injuries does not account for the total and epic lack of cohesion and focus in every phase of the game. He's a relic who does not understand a whole new modern game and a whole new modern player. There's something about Perry Fewell which tells me he will be a very good NFL head coach some day. Passion, drive, dedication, communication, youthfulness, relatability. I truly believe that he's our Jim Harbaugh. He's had 2 full years of experience working within an organization that's run by one of the NFL's best. I don't care that the Giants defense has been very shaky this year. I just don't. I think Fewell is the perfect fit for what this Buffalo team needs right now. I think this one move would be the key (along with players staying healthy in 2012) to stopping the merry-go-round once and for all. No "name" coaches are coming through that door at One Bills Drive. I can't take another year of Chan Gailey. Since you can't change the roster, you must change the message. http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Defensive-Coordinator-Perry-Fewell/851a661e-321b-4222-a256-22ce34f814e1
  16. Actually the Fitzpatrick deal is that of an average salary for a full time NFL starting QB. If the Bills lose the rest of their games then all bets are off regarding IF they take RG III if he were there at their pick. I'm a big supporter of Fitzpatrick, but he really needs to be solid these last group of games to squash any talk of drafting RG III with their first pick. Though chances are that even if the Bills did lose out, they still won't be in position to draft RG III. Which is ok since we are so desperate for a pass rusher.
  17. Wow, Great Blue North has 7 LBs going in the first round... http://www.gbnreport.com/2012projection.html Draft Upshaw in the first and a LB that falls to us in the second. Sounds like a plan!
  18. Mike Mayock made a complete fool of himself with his Gabbert man love fest before the 2011 draft. At the time, I said it here that I had lost all respect of Mayock after hearing his analysis regarding Newton vs Gabbert. I'm a huge supporter of Ryan Fitzpatrick and I still wanted the Bills to take Cam Newton if he was there. There was something very suspicious about Gabbert's ascension to the top QB status. He looked very ordinary, his numbers were very ordinary and he came from a gimmicky college offense. His agent had such strong connections to the draft gurus that that it felt as if Mayock and Casserly were part of the hired staff of Gabbert's PR team. It seems as if everyone on TV is bought and sold so my advice is to avoid anything coming from the "big name" draft gurus. Casserly once said on NFL Network that 9 out of 10 NFL teams prefer Gabbert over Newton. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that! First off, it was clearly not true and if he really believed it to be true then this man should never hold a job as an NFL analyst ever again.
  19. While Fitzpatrick has had his fair share of off the target throws, he has had an awful lot of key drops by his WRs and RBs. He threw a dropped game winner to Stevie in NY and Spiller dropped a sure TD pass last game also. All we need for the playoffs in 2012 is a defense and have the offense clean up their sloppy act.
  20. The money's all gone? Soros ends up the big winner? Hmmmm...look's like a great plot for the Ocean's 14 movie.
  21. So you believe Attorney General Eric Holder's testimony in this case to be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
  22. Still with the potty mouth. How old are you? I'm questioning. You do know what a question mark means, right? No one is stopping you from burying your head in the sand.
  23. Is this Obama's Watergate?... http://biggovernment.com/awrhawkins/2011/12/01/breaking-news-on-fast-and-furious-obama-knew-in-may-2010/ It all starts with Obama and Holder not liking the gun control laws here in America. So with supreme power, politically motivated, and in the hopes of changing the laws, they hatch a plan to sell a couple of thousand to the most dangerous and criminal gun users on the planet? One of which was used to kill a government agent? How many other people have been killed by these guns? Either this is illegal or our country is basically toast.
  24. You don't have to go that far back. Ben Rothlesburger and Eli Manning had very good defenses and neither are on the Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Aaron Rogers level. They're the in between of the silly extremes you've outlined over and over and over again in this thread. Of course Ryan Fitzpatrick still has more to go to prove that he's as good as Ben or Eli, but the Raider and Patriot games this year were proof that he does have that potential. It's funny how good Fitzpatrick looked when he was given a healthy dose of short fields off of turnovers. Same thing with Ben and Eli, their teams were not asking them to start every drive at the 20 yard line. This team needs to build a good defense, plain and simple.
