  1. It's so hard to watch Spiller's youtube videos and not think of why they can't give Spiller a chance and give him at least 10 touches. Why does the rookie Demarco Murray look awesome and Spiller (a year and a half in) look useless? I saw one Clemson play on youtube that would be awesome, have Jackson line up at RB with Spiller as the slot, hand it off to Spiller on a reverse with Jackson as the lead blocker. CJ Spiller's non impact on this team is just outrageous. Why is he not returning kickoffs? Dallas has a new (maybe weaker?) kicker and Spiller should be returning kickoffs today, right???? This kind of has the feel just like Gailey's blunder with starting Trent over Fitzpatrick. Or even his mishandling of Aaron Maybin.
  2. I don't think there's a harder game on today's schedule to predict than this game. Three things that I can hang my hat on is that the Bills have a much better season long resume coming into this game than Dallas, last weeks embarrassing game should have our guys fired up to prove themselves much better than that, and the 5.5 point spread is showing the Bills very little respect only a week after the opposing head coach was chest bumping on the sidelines. My prediction is that the Bills stop with the "moving the chains" philosophy and go back to the attacking by scoring touchdowns mentality.
  3. The Redskins game didn't even seem like it was against a real NFL team. In their last two challenges, the Bills looked bad in the second half of the Giant game and then laid an egg at home against the division rival Jets. They've used up practically all of the good will cache of the great start. Most everybody's holding judgement till after this next game. November is the NFL's "money" month. If you can't win in November then you'll no doubt be one of the average group of teams doing mental gymnastics to find your mathematical path to the playoffs in December which everyone knows will never pan out. This Dallas game will show us once and for all who they are. Do they have a pulse or are they just another middle of the pack team? We shall see.
  4. If Buffalo is average, what the heck is Dallas? Bills beat: Chiefs, Raiders, Patriots, Eagles, Redskins Cowboys beat: 49ers, Redskins, Rams, Seahawks Bills losses: Bengals, Giants, Jets Cowboys losses: Jets, Lions, Patriots, Eagles
  5. If this team doesn't beat Dallas, then I don't see them getting a playoff birth. Obviously it's possible, but let's be real here.... ...it's November, Dallas is a winnable game, this game will give all of us the answer on whether this team is in this thing for real or whether they aren't.
  6. Notice the short passes in the first drive? Notice the over compensation towards Freddie in the second drive? The first pass on the third drive was for four yards. What does this remind you of????????????? ...I don't even have to say it, everyone here knows what I'm talking about. The Bills have lost their identity in trying to get Fred the football (granted he was having success, but were not ground and pound) and having Fitzpatrick "game manage" by moving the chains with short passes and hoping for a game filled with third and shorts. Screw the third down. This team needs to start going for big chuncks. They need to have Dallas worry about covering the whole field. They need to have Fitzpatrick get away from the pocket and extend plays to give time to let the receivers separate. Use Jackson for outlet shuttle passes and screens. Fitzpatrick seriously needs to take off with the ball a few times a game. If they go back to who they are, the Bills win. If they don't and play it "safe", they lose.
  7. Excellent post. I expect the Bills to get back to their identity this week. Enough of the ground and pound stuff, they're going to try putting up a big number on the scoreboard. I've got to believe that Gailey's going to use Jackson less as a runner and more as a Fitzpatrick's bodyguard this week.
  8. Re-read the original thread. It's not about fans "whining." It's not about a Bills player "whining." The thread is about wondering what the reaction will be of the Bills players after witnessing the mockery. Buffalo players should not be "whining" or talking to the media about any of this stuff. But someone on the Bills should bring this up behind closed doors and acknowledge that this is a clear sign that there's zero respect for the Bills. I'd go one step further and tell them Rob's calling the Bills a bunch of wimps. Because you know he is.
  9. Thanks, I was hoping for some backup on this! I also really hope that Fitzpatrick finds his "wheels" again. He was good for at least two first downs a game using his legs. The coaches need to re-watch the first few games of the season and GET BACK ON TRACK. This running Freddie and having Fitzpatrick "game manage" is a loser, it's choking our team, and it's not what got us the winning record we have now.
  10. What they also need to do is perfect the shuttle play to Jackson. On certain passing plays, if the linebackers fall back into coverage then Jackson would be asked to fake a block move and step up into space for the shuttle pass. It worked for Kelly and Thomas and it should also work and be successful for the guys we have now.
  11. I totally agree with your assessment. The Cowboys game will be the "bell weather" game for the rest of the 2011 season. Either they beat the Cowboys and put the petal to the metal...or they lose and become just one of a group of about 15 mediocre NFL teams who'll be missing the playoffs this year. At least we won't have to wait long for the answer of what kind of team the Bills are. For me, the key for the game will be if Gailey let's Fitzpatrick become the focal point of the offense once again and if he does, how Fitzpatrick responds.
  12. Again, this isn't a "whining" thread. You guys are missing the point. It's a thread about feeling embarrassed for the Bills and wondering if you were a player on the team, how you'd handle it inside the locker room. Whining is what Tomlinson did after that Patriot playoff game, or what fans do when they are angry at an opposing player for showboating too much. I'm not angry, I feel embarrassed for them. I want to know if the players and coaches are angry at the many signs of blatant disrespect shown by the Jets, and if they are, how they channel it moving forward. One thing they can't do is talk to the media about what they're going to do. Just keep it internal and unload on Dallas this weekend.
  13. You're confusing the issue. I haven't heard one player whine as they should not say a single word about it outside of the locker room. What the leader should do in the locker room is tell them that when head coaches start chest bumping on the sidelines, it means that it's proof teams have zero respect for you. Parcells and Belichick would milk the most inane comment made from another team for all it is worth all week and you're telling me that a head coach chest bumping is no big deal? Sorry, but I'd rather side with those coaches "they're questioning your manhood" approach. This is a big deal and if the Bills players don't see it that way we are a bunch of wimps.
  14. You're crazy. Players do and should get pissed off at this stuff. If they don't then I wouldn't want them on our team. It would mean that Ryan and Tomlinson (who was obviously parroting what his coach had been telling him all week) are right. We are a bunch of spineless wimps.
  15. A lot of fans are wondering what the Bills should do against Dallas. Well here's what I think they should do. I think the Bills have gone away from what was making them so successful earlier in the season. That was having Fitzpatrick and the receivers as the focal point of their attack. The more Jackson was having success running the football, the more the Bills have been going into a shell and turning the once confident Fitzpatrick into a "game manager" type QB. This is the problem. He isn't a "game manager", he's a legitimate passing QB. The Bills should feature Fitzpatrick throwing to Johnson, Nelson, Spiller (in the slot) and Jackson on screens. When Jackson isn't on a screen pass, he should be chipping on Ware to give Fitzpatrick plenty of time to throw it to the receivers. They should be going no huddle and give Fitzpatrick plenty of options to audible out of bad play calls. The Bills should try to overwhelm the Cowboys with their offense, then when they're up by a few touchdowns, they can then let Jackson run with the football and start taking time off the clock. We need to get Fitzpatrick back to what he was or this season is over. I know the football purists think I'm wrong, but if Jackson is the focal point we lose.
  16. You need to go back re-read the original post. My only emotion was embarrassment. It wasn't anger or even being upset. I was merely pointing out the actions of the Jets and what impact it will have on their motivation in their next meeting. If it were me, forget three weeks from now, I'd be ready to drop 50 points on Rob's face in Dallas this Sunday. Just because he's Rex's brother. You don't have a problem with Rex chest bumping on the sideline, fine. I think if you were a player you'd be in the minority. If I were a leader, I'd call a team meeting and use this as the defining moment of the season. I'd tell them that this week in practice, Rob Ryan is calling all of the guys in that room the same old Buffalo Bills who are nothing but a bunch of finesse-plain' wusses. Let's go beat them to a pulp.
  17. The other stuff (their manhood and pride) is what's most important to NFL players besides the money they're getting paid. It's true. This classic Parcells and Belichick button pushing has been used till it's worn to the nub. I would use Rex Ryan's chest bump celebration as motivation to give his brother some serious payback this week. Leave a nice calling card in Dallas that the Bills are coming to kick the jolly fat slob's ass in NJ in a couple of weeks.
  18. Stevie hasn't done anything like that since then. He was wrong then and he deserves kudos for knocking it off. Players chest bumping is fine. It's when the head coach chest bumps that it crosses the "in your face you losers" line. I don't remember Fitzpatrick running up to a Patriot DB and mocking him like that. You may not have a problem with the Jets doing what they did, but my hope is that the Bills players simmer on this game until it boils over starting with them unloading on Rex's brother Rob's team this week.
  19. The only way to beat up this bully is to go into their territory and punch Revis and Rex in the face. You don't do it in the media, you do it with all 53 players full understanding that in three weeks time, they're going into NJ and punching Revis and Rex in the face. That they're going in there with the sole purpose of embarrassing the Jets in front of their fans. They can do it, but they have to ALL buy into what the intentions and expectations are. No phony confidence, but the real belief that they're going to tear them up.
  20. George Wilson or Nick Barnett? Point is, that there should be at least one guy in that locker room who could get away with doing something like this and the team believing them. I agree that Fitzpatrick doesn't have that kind of toughness aura (he does kind of have a Montana-like persona).
  21. If I'm the Bills leader, I make yesterday's game the turning point of this season. I close the door and tell everyone in the locker room that we won't lose another game this year. Tell everyone to not say a word about outside the locker room about what they're going to do to Dallas, Miami, Jets, ect... But that they WILL do their talking on the field and it won't even be close. The last thing I'd say is that we'll make make Rob's team pay this week for Rex's chest bump, we'll make Revis pay for those remarks in a few weeks by running a heavy dose of sweep plays to his side. This team is better than this and my hope is that this game unleashes an angry Bills team on the rest of their schedule.
  22. I was just providing the observation of the clear adolescent-like mocking by a divisional rival and what ramifications if any, in the rematch in the next few weeks.
  23. Thanks for the differing "live" perspective. Fitzpatrick had a horrible game which pretty much meant ballgame. I fully expect the Bills to do some crazy blankity-blank next week. Rob will be going to school on how easy it is to beat down the Bills offense this week courtesy of his brother Rex. Chan has to start adjusting to whatever the Jets did and now other teams will be doing.
  24. The Bills played fearless football the first few weeks of the season. Remember how fun they were to watch? What happened was that the whole team from the coaches on down to the players look like they're afraid of their own shadows. The more that we've been trying to "feed" Fred the football in the ground game, the more this offense has lost it's multi-dimensional attacking style. Time for the Bills to go back to spreading it around and getting not just Fred, but EVERYONE the football and make the Cowboys defend the entire field. This Cowboy game rest entirely on the offense getting it's act together. If they don't, their season is over.
  25. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d823d1676/article/lt-jets-not-worried-about-bills-pretty-ball Revis clearly wasn't concerned about who would hear the mockery since there was a CBS camera filming him and he was screaming at the top of his lungs. Sad truth was that he was right. Question is now, what do the Bills do about this next time they face them? Sanchez runs up to McKelvin in the endzone after a TD pass and mocks him with the overly dramatic "excuse me ***hole" hands up brush by move. Rex Ryan chest bumping Holmes. The laughing and guffawing on the sidelines. The Bills were openly mocked at home to a divisional team that clearly has zero fear of them since they did this knowing they still face each other in three short weeks. Sorry, but I can't ever recall seeing this kind of brashness before. As a fan of the Bills, it was truly embarrassing. What will the Bills do about it? Are they afraid of the Jets? If I were Chan I'd show the mocking on a loop in the locker room during Jet week.
