Man, I was so bored with the lack of sports that I gambled on nascar and tried watching. I just couldn’t do it. Salute to you people who like it but I just don’t get it.

I refuse to watch that movie. I heard his brother, Chris, basically just talk a bunch of crap about Buffalo because he was probably some dork who had no friends here. I’m completely fine with pointing out Buffalo’s weaknesses but you don’t put down Buffalo to the national media if you’re from here.

This is good for Allen that players are starting to respect him (how many votes) but honestly, what does it really mean? Baker was 50th last year and Goff was 32. It’s this boring stuff that makes good to great qbs. It’s why Mahomes and Allen have similar physical skills but where Mahomes kills him as a passer. Even the harshest Allen critics don’t question his physical skills. But it’s the consistency from play to play and recognizing coverages that people worry about.

I can’t believe their GM still has a job. And I totally would have kicked the tires on that guy for a 6th.

I never heard of a head coach not talking to the time at halftime. That’s weird. Gase is weird. He seems antisocial.

My theory is that people just move to Florida because of the taxes and beaches and just try to figure it out. And the humidity makes everyone 50% more crazy. awesome place to visit though.

Wow, that’s actually a really interesting one. Freeman had every physical tool and had a really good second season (5 game winning drives!!!!). And then he had 2 more seasons and was basically done. but again, I don’t think Allen is like any recent high 1st round prospect because he’s never had a history of dominance on any level. That said, he’s in about as good of a situation as any 3rd year qb can be in. If he doesn’t significantly improve this year, I’m quite confident in saying he isn’t the right guy. Freeman had a better second year that Allen. It’s really not that crazy of a comparison.

It seems like such an easy job too. Build up the line and load up on skill players. As much as fans talk about how bad Allen’s weapons have been, Darnold has had awful targets. That franchise is a joke,

Since I’m a big man and so rarely wrong, I am raising my hand to say I couldn’t be more wrong about Gase. Like I never thought he was a great coach but I thought he would be fine if he just developed Darnold. Since that adderall press conference, he was been a total weirdo. Coaches like him getting second chances before Eric Bienemy gets one are a joke. the sad part is I think Darnold can be really good but he is toxic environment. If not for that one SB 50 years, they would be one of the worst franchises in sports. What a joke.

I think he was too nice of a guy who tried to please his coaches. Some of his best plays where when he scrambled around and just launched the ball. He had a cannon. One thing I love about Allen is for better or worst, he doesn’t play scared.

Completely disagree. 1) Tyrod was essentially Alex Smith. 2) Mahomes is special. He had over 50 tds his last year in college. Allen wasn’t close to his level in a worse conference. Mahomes would have been great anywhere and in Buffalo, he would have played with an elite defense instead of one of the worst in KC. I still think if EJ could have had more of an Allen type mindset, he could have been a good QB. He had every tool you wanted but played scared and like a robot.

Really??? People love to overrated how bad the Bills were. Wilson’s rookie year receivers were golden tate (who had 600 yards in 2 years), Sidney Rice (who had one fluke year and then sucked pretty much every other year), and UDFa Baldwin. He did have Lynch. we had Spiller who had 1200 yards and averaged 6.0 ypc (still can’t believe he washed out like he did), Stevie, and a bunch of young guys. Wilson would have been a baller here.

Gotta admit the smartest this board has ever been was the amount of posters who wanted Wilson. It was actually really impressive. and I don’t remember that much Dak love but the guy was a baller at one of the historically worst SEC programs. again, college production doesn’t mean nfl success. But a lack of it is a red flag. These guys were really good college players. Whaley was completely handcuffed as a GM and a good soldier. Even with his EJ mistake (who was completely terribly developed), he brought in Orton the coward, Cassell, and Tyrod.

See this is the problem with trying to discuss Allen here. I’d argue I’m one if the most rational people on the board when talking about him. I’m using facts and past performance while the Allen (trying not to use soccer moms ?) are using projections that Allen has never hit. I’ve comparison of Allen to Elway, Big Ben, and a better Cam Newton (so laughable how underrated Newton is here). it would be completely phony for me to start propping up a guy who I hated as a prospect Just because the Bills picked him. I think he is a flawed prospect that fans are hoping (based on no real numbers) to be a better player in the NFL than he has ever been on any level of football. Again if he was on another team, people would be more willing to admit that he is a flawed prospect. I want Allen to be good but I wanted all Bills players to be good (except RI. He’s scum). But hoping and be realistic about him is entirely different. I don’t think Allen is terrible and certainly deserves this year. And I hope he proves me wrong. But you haven’t show me one shred of real evidence that shows he is going to a good enough passer to consistently carry a franchise. And of course this thread became all about Allen. Some can’t handle any criticism of Allen without making personal. I wish ex girlfriends defended me like some of you do to Allen. And I was good boyfriend more than 60% of the time. Appreciate the conversation and even though I disagree, have a good night boss. So there is zero worry that a guy who was picked at the highest drafted qb in franchise history didn’t dominate the MWC? allen college completion % 56.2 Allen nfl completion % 56.3 but that doesn’t mean anything I guess.

This is a fair post and I do appreciate the way you present your points. But I think you do let your biases get in the way. 1 - I think you are a guy who’s put down Lamar Jackson’s success (correct me if I’m wrong). You talk about Allen improving but why can’t a 23 year old MVP? 2 - so it’s not concerning that a qb who has never went over 60% passing on any level and has been very inconsistent has through 2 years in the nfl, been under 60% and inconsistent? At what point do you eventually say that maybe Allen just is not getting unlucky and there are some flaws there? and I get why, but if he wasn’t a Bill and say a Jet, what would the opinion of him be?

I think the take away is dome qbs struggle more outside of the dome. I think a good QBs is a good QBs no matter where. It’s also why Brady is the GOAT.

I mean Rivers might be washed up but he did just have 4,600 yards passing and pretty much is good for 4,000 every year. would I take Rivers over Allen long term? No. But for a year? I think Rivers would be an upgrade and Brisett is a huge upgrade over Barkley. Basically the only reason Pittsburgh wasn’t in the playoffs was because of maybe the worst qb play in the nfl last year. If Big Ben is average, they are a very dangerous team and he passed for 5,000 yards the previous year.

And just be consistent. I wanted another team to draft Allen because I wasn’t sold on him and hate prospects like him in the 1st round (I love guys like that in later rounds, it’s why I didn’t like the Fromm pick). ive grown to really like him as a guy but I struggle to just forget all the things I worried about him because he’s a Bill. It sucks.

To be fair, I never say him play in college. But I absolutely loved JuJu and wanted him so bad. I would say this with High picked receiver’s. Yeah but if there is was a favorable one, you’d eat that up. So to sum up mine and ESPN’s point. The Bills have a top 10 roster and coaching but we are worried about Allen being the answer. Sure you are. But I say this every time, I truly do hope you’re right because I gain nothing out of being right.

Well said. There’s some weird thing around Bills fans that “experts” don’t personally like Allen. It comes down to this. It’s really hard to believe a top 10 pick who didn’t make 1st or 2nd team in the MWC will become a great nfl qb. If he was on another team, we would think the same way. if he does, build a statue for McBeane because they are geniuses.
