  1. If the room rates are equal, I'd choose Embassy Suites. I wouldn't pay too much more for their included breakfast... it is a hassle having to deal with the crowds and the food quality is rarely very good (although it's better than the Hampton breakfast). If, say, the Courtyard was $10 less per night, I'd go that route. Otherwise, I'd choose the ES.
  2. Agreed, I thought it was a snoozefest as well. Then again, I had no rooting interest (positive or negative) in this game. With NE* and Seattle participating in the last few games, I always had a team to root against (although it sucked that last year, both teams couldn't lose). Honestly I'm tired of seeing the same damn teams from the AFC make it each and every year. It's always either NE*, DEN, PIT, IND, or BAL.
  3. I'm glad to see they boo'ed Brady.

  5. I worked for three months in Hartford as a development intern with an insurance company about 12 years ago. Worst experience ever. The cost of living was outrageous. There was this snobbery that radiated from the place that I couldn't quite put my finger on until I left; a hybrid of the worst personality traits from Boston and NYC. I also felt like there was very little to do unless you had money, or wanted to make the trek to NYC or Boston. My assigned mentor wouldn't give me the time of day. The company had just gone through a merger and my first meeting on the first day was about layoffs. Needless to say, I didn't return, and I haven't looked back. To contrast, I interned in Cleveland the next summer. Not exactly known as a popular place to live. However, there was tons to do (Rock and Roll hall of fame, pro football hall of fame, Indians games, Cedar Point, etc), the people were great, job was fun, and everything was dirt cheap. I loved the experience.
  6. And as fans of a team that was constantly involved in relocation rumors to LA and Toronto for years... it just makes me sick. What if this was Bon Jovi and the Bills? The (slight) thing that makes me feel better is that St. Louis "stole" them from LA in 1994. Granted, they came from Cleveland... but that was a LONG time ago.
  7. Not a fan of Terry voting in favor of relocation. Gotta think that Ralph, had he still been around, would have voted against it.
  8. The jet is currently in Buffalo... http://flightaware.com/live/flight/XSR960
  9. Russ sent Ralph's old Taurus to the airport to pick him up. George Seifert was also part of the gang. They stopped at Applebees on the way to the stadium for a 2 for $20 deal.
  10. I'd really like to know who other than Rex thought this was a good idea. Terry? Kim? Whaley? Russ? Someone else had to sign off on this! Because honestly I see zero upside with this and only tension between the rest of the defensive coaching staff and the two Ryans. Please prove me wrong, Rex.
  11. ... and we all thought nepotism vanished once Ralph passed and Littman was gone. Guess not!
  12. Nantz has lost a step. I don't know if it's us getting stuck with Dedes and Wilcots all season and just not watching Nantz or what, but dear lord, he sounds like he's a senior citizen that can barely keep track of the game anymore. Put Nantz out to pasture on The Masters, pair Ian Eagle with the #1 color guy, and just get rid of Simms. Peyton's probably looking for a job after this season...
  13. Unless something drastic changes next offseason, the cap is going to still be an issue and while I like Gilmore, I'm not sure I like him at the salary he is going to command. Honestly, if the front office is looking long term, and knows that it won't be possible to re-sign him come 2017... why not try to trade him while his value is high, and in the process, save $11MM in cap space this season? If the deal is good (early round draft pick + a decent player in a position of need like LB), why not? I feel like every DB that leaves Buffalo and signs a big contract never ends up living up to expectations anyway... Byrd, Greer, Clements, etc.
  14. Teams sorted by XP percentage. Bills are #30: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2015/#kicking::18
  15. I have defended Carpenter in previous threads, but I think with the season over with, it is time to bring in some competition for this spot. If the 'best available kicker' is still around in the 6th, I would not mind spending a pick to improve that position. I despise everything about Belichick, but he is right in putting a lot of importance on this position.
  16. I love how they pour ALCOHOL onto him as though that's going to put the fire out... geez. I know everyone whines when they crack down on aspects of tailgating, but idiots like these guys have already ruined it for the vast majority. This isn't about keeping the experience 'PG', this is about preventing things like car fires in the parking lot and wasted Buffalonians beating the crap out of opposing fans because they've had too much to drink. There are ways to avoid the sterility of corporate football (MetLife, Gilette, etc), have real fans attend games, and still maintain a safe atmosphere. Lambeau is a good example of this. The Ralph is an embarrassment.
  17. Fitz threw it right to him. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once and awhile...
  18. There were several issues this season (penalties, lack of mental concentration, etc) that didn't crop up last year. With this year's talent, I have to think that a veteran leader would have been worth 1-2 additional wins.
  19. It left a leadership gap on the team that hasn't been filled since. I'd rather have a third down back that's a leader as opposed to a kickoff specialist...
  20. Mularkey was no picnic either. I will never forget Son of Satan discussing the ban on negative signs being brought into the stadium on his radio show... even Ralph thought that policy was nutso and Donahoe's ridiculous behavior towards fans was a big reason why Ralph took the Team President title back after he left.
  21. ... and that is why I, along with many others, are so pissed at Rex for squandering defensive talent. LB and DL are now huge needs for us because we need players that fit into Rex's system. Meanwhile, our OL needs a ton of work to prevent Taylor from getting killed, and at the very least, we need a decent backup QB because Taylor is going to take a beating given his style of play. Somewhat OT, but Whaley offering that contract to Shady is going to prevent us from getting some of the above in FA. Shady has been good but just look at what Williams and Gillislee are doing... We are now looking at 2017 as being the earliest we have a chance to make the playoffs... and the defense is the primary reason why.
  22. I am fine with Taylor being the guy... but my concerns are as follows: Durability. His legs are a huge asset but man I was very nervous with some of the shots he was taking in a meaningless game this afternoon. This has been a consistent concern over the course of the season. He's got to learn when it's smarter to slide or throw the ball away rather than putting his body at risk. Third down decision making. I don't know if this is Roman or Taylor, but in most of the games he's played in, there have been some stupid decisions made on third down. It's been a combination of bad play calling, poor decisions on who to throw the ball to, and the like. It's late on a Sunday night but with a few games fresh in my mind I could point to a few situations where I was scratching my head. Locking onto receivers. This is somewhat related to #1 but I'm still seeing him lock onto his first choice of receiver on a play, and just bolt with his legs if that one player isn't open. In the middle of the season, this was often happening where Sammy wasn't the #1 read, and he'd get himself open but Taylor wouldn't notice. He's gotten the ball to Watkins more, which is good, but on the replays today where they were showing his eyes and he would end up running the ball... he wasn't scanning the entire field. This worries me a little bit.
  23. I have been waiting almost ten years for the Bills to visit Seattle... moved out here in 2006 and this is the first time since 2004 that they'll be out here.
