  1. The worst comment from Trint this time around was when he was asked about the interception off Steve Johnson's hands. "I don't know...I haven't talked to Steve yet." Can you imagine Brees, Brady or Manning getting an interception off of a WR's hands and not TALKING to him after the play?? If it was the WR's fault, call him out on the sidelines. Get him to focus. If it was your fault, walk up to him and grab accountability. If it was mutual, sit down with him and get on the same page. But for God's sake, what kind of leader "Doesn't talk to him?" There's no situation where that is the correct response. There's still most of a half of football left, Trint. And you're supposed to be the leader. I continue to beg Gailey for Fitz. Please Please Please...
  2. It needs to be a Fitz chant if you want to win games
  3. I would put Poz on the outside. He looked like he's bulked up and might be able to handle being on the point of attack. No worse than Kelsay anyway. Then play Ellison on the inside. He played well there Sunday and also looked bulked up.
  4. Yep. Agreed. And lest we forget that came against the Colts at the end of the year. In the snow. Best performance by a Bills QB at least since Bledsoe's few good games. Oh, but the apologists will say 'he can't hit the side of the barn' or 'those were the Colts backups'. Sure, they were. But Trent would have found a way to not play well in that game, and anybody that says different is watching the Bills play with their eyes closed.
  5. My thoughts are that the defense actually looked a lot better when Ellison was out there. The ILBs in a 3-4 need to cover those crossing routes, and Poz mostly gets eaten up by them. Maybe this should be a permanent change. He'd make a good backup. Or maybe Poz should be playing outside instead of Kelsay. Kelsay looked really awful at times today too. Completely lost.
  6. Okay, so I am not going to claim this cost us the game or anything, but as it turns out if we had all three TOs at the end we would have had about 40 seconds more to watch the futility of that last drive. But we did not, because we took our first TO in the second half when it was third and 30 and the play clock was running down. Really, what the heck is the difference between 3rd and 30 and 3rd and 35 at that point?? We're only trying to run a short pass and pick up a few yards to punt. Isn't it obvious the TO is more important there, even if you don't know yet how the game is going to end?
  7. I've been on record on this for a while now. Fitz needs to be the QB for this team. I whined about this all training camp and many here were just as snowed as Gailey by Trent's 'he's great in shorts and t-shirt' performance every off-season. Well, here I am again. Fitz still needs to be the QB of this team, and every week that this escapes Gailey makes me lose confidence in him.
  8. How did Mitchell even get hurt?? I heard he was likely out for game 1 about a day ago, but where did this sudden injury come from? Practice?
  9. The Bills will finish ahead of the Jets this year. And the Dolphins. The only team I think is outright better in the division is probably the Pats*. And Greenberg won't say a damn thing about it on the radio. But we can all take solace in knowing that at home he will be crying in his little boy cereal over his precious Jets only being better than the Dolphins this year. Just watch. Bills 33 - Dolphins 23 this weekend, and it won't be that close. Phins will get a late TD to pull within 10.
  10. Not a bad song. Nothing but education going on at that Clemson place, that much is for sure.
  11. Unfortunately, no. Being right this week about the Bills notwithstanding, these guys know nothing more than the guy three cubicles down at your office. They simply have the job of culling internet reports and making randon connections into a twenty word tweet every once in a while, and making suppositions based on the weaknesses of a team. Tomorrow, if a prima donna LT got released, Shefter would immediately tweet that the Bills had been in trade discussions with team XYZ about this player. There is nothing behind this other than Shefter keeping a list of teams that have questionable LTs vs. the fact that an LT being released. I really don't care that they both picked the Bills this week. They're both RIGHT, of course, we are going to kill the Dolphins about 37 - 24, but that doesn't mean they know anything more than you or I do.
  12. Miami Dolphins 7 9 0 .438 360 390 Buffalo Bills 6 10 0 .375 258 326 It's clear that one additional win makes the Dolphins a much better team from last year.
  13. Of course, everyone in the division comes to mind, but I put the Dolphins at the top still, and not just because they are the first opponent.
  14. Because, unlike ESPN, Vegas has money on the line with their opinions and actually pays attention to the progression of the teams when setting the line. An objective, "I have money on this" look at the game is the following: 1. You have two near-.500 teams from last year, separated by one game, who split their season series last year 2. One of the teams (The Bills) have gotten better, scoring the third most points per game in the NFL in the preseason, while the other, aside from the acquisition of one marquis headcase wide out, is probably worse. 3. The team that has improved is at home. I am shocked, being at home, the Bills are not favored here. I expect them to start the season 1-2, but this first game is going to be the win, and in my opinion it's not going to be close, quite frankly.
  15. Thanks for the link. Good article on Bell. I also followed the other link for 8 story lines to watch (Lions) and was interested to see Ko Simpson and Wendling battling for spots in their secondary. Maybe Wendling will get cut and can come back and save our ST. I also notice that they are going to cut at least one young DT - Andre Fluellen or Landon Cohen. They don't look like 3-4 players, and our D-line is probably set at this point, but interesting nonetheless.
  16. I liked what Simpson did last game as well, but I don't think he leap frogged Bell. I see what you are saying about returns, but given the absolute preponderance of return men we have and how pitiful the kick coverage has been, I think we keep Bell for kick coverage, something I don't think Simpson at his size is capable of doing; certainly not well. I also agree with the other poster that Bell will not make it to the PS, so it is a safer move to keep him and jettison Simpson. Chances are that Simpson does not get picked up and we can sign in later if we need him. Sorry that has to be done to the guy, but it's the safest move at the RB position for the Bills. Bell is going to be much better equipped to handle the load with his size if we need to call upon a 4th back than Simpson would be.
  17. Have you seen this now? Shefter fires back at bills I haven't seen Shefter with this much egg on his face in a while. What a terrible excuse! "Oh, they talked about it over the summer..." Clearly his recent report suggested that they talked about trading for him recently (since he lost his starting job), which is patently untrue, anyone even casually following the Bills would know at this point they are going to ride with the QBs they've got, especially after they've ALL played pretty well in the preseason. So in an attempt to back track on his made up report he is now saying it happened earlier, and that's what he "really" meant. In other words, he's been caught lying and doesn't like that the Bills called him on it. He better watch it or something small like this where he is trying to jump out in front of everyone is going to ruin him
  18. No. Brown's shown absolutely nothing so far and there are going to be a ton of young QBs waived. It will be fine to pass him over to the PS. I'm quite sure this is the plan. The three will be Edwards, Fitz and Brohm. And even if I am wrong and Brown gets picked up, who cares? As the other poster said, Brohm has more potential anyway. He's still a young guy, so either choice is going with youth. It's not like we're deciding between Brown and Chris Redman or someone like that.
  19. My opinions... Fitz will be on the team. They will pass Brown through to PS. Yes, he will make it through waivers. He hasn't shown much and too many other young higher drafted QBs are going to get cut or waived. Gailey will want all three of the veteran QBs on the roster from Day One. They all have played equally so far this preseason. Mitchell is not going to get cut. They will keep him over Moats or Ellis. Moats may get sent to PS. Ellis probably gets cut outright. They need three ILBs = Poz, Davis and Mitchell. Hardy may get cut, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay and Roosevelt or Jones sent to PS. They'll make it through waivers, lots of WRs out there. D. Nelson is going to make it over Jones / Roosevelt too. Coleman is going to make the team. Again it may come at the sacrifice of Ellis or Moats. Chambers may get cut in favor of a waiver wire OL pickup, as you suggest. EDITED because I forgot about David Nelson.
  20. The article states that Trent has won the job. Has this been announced? I haven't given up on the 2010 Bills yet, but if they announce that Trent wins the job, I will have to. Has anyone heard this? I thought Chan said the competition was still open.
  21. This is a really dumb trade for the Dolphins. They learned nothing from letting Welker go a few years ago. These types of guys are invaluable. Sure, they were short at CB, but you could sign someone as good as Sapp. In the meantime they lost a really valuable cog. When Marshall is throwing one of his fits and Bess is injured or having a down year, they'll really be kicking themselves. Oh, well, better chance for us in game 1.
  22. Point taken. I am on one of my rants again. I'm not as bad as Ice, but I do get fixated on getting Edwards out of that spot. Sorry to those I annoy with the mantra. Anyway, my stance on the heckling is this. I'm with you guys - though I might've said in a post earlier in the thread that I would heckle to get Trent gone, I really wouldn't. I don't even cheer or boo loudly at the games. I'm sort of quiet fan, and that includes (mostly) quietly and not vociferously seething when I disagree with decisions the team makes. Once in a while, I vent on this board, just to get it off my chest, but that's about it. Heckling at a practice (or even a game) would be something I wouldn't really even think about doing. I do stand with Chan on his coming to a player's defense, whether I think that player is any good or not is probably irrelevant, as you say.
  23. Let me be clearer, as I thought afterwards what I wrote might get interpreted in that way. I love Gailey so far. And of course I know he watches film, a ton of it, I am sure. I am just surprised he is ignoring it. If he watched the film from last year, he should have made Fitz the #1 going into camp, as he earned it based on last year's performance, and let him lose the job if he thought that was what was going to happen. In fact, if he is a player's coach as he seems to be by these actions, I am astonished this did not happen. It can't feel good to know you will be the best at a position one year and not be guaranteed to have first shot at the job the next year under this particular coach. Does anyone deny Fitz was the better player last year? Despite the fact it was a different offense, you can't come in here and act like last year with these same players didn't happen. This is what I am confused by. Those were real games. As everyone has been indicating, this is merely PRACTICE (he said, channeling Alan Iverson). And, just to continue on Gailey, I think we can all see this running game is going to be sick this year. Like best in the league sick, I think. The offense is going to score points based on the running game alone. But here again, if we would just start the right QB, we could win games, maybe make a playoff run with that running game. Instead, when third down comes along, we have to watch drive-killer Trent throw it into the ground or get sacked. I pray the right decision gets made before it's too late to save this season.
  24. Did you watch any football last year? Trent most certainly has done enough to lose the job already, and many of us are increasingly perplexed by a new head coach who seems to think this is a clean slate. If you took over a football team and the owner signed Jeff George to be the QB, would just watch practice and say "gee, he seems good. Nice strong arm." and ignore all of the game film available on him from the past that would show you he sucks?? Because that is what Chan is doing right now, relying entirely on practice and not watching last year's film to know this guy can't play. And I guarantee it is going to cost us the first half of this season again. Then Trent will get pulled or injured, we'll be something like 2 - 6, and Brohm or Fitz will lead us on a run that will fall just short of the playoffs and everyone will wonder why those guys didn't start from the beginning. I just can't believe there are people here who are not seeing this.
  25. I love what Gailey did from a team perspective, but I do hope the heckling told him something about who is hitching his wagon to. I have to say, I've been a Bills fan for 25 years and I cannot remember ever truly disliking a player that has put on our colors. That is, until Trent Edwards. Nobody wants to root for a guy with no courage. I remain committed as a fan of the team to continuing to root for someone else, anyone else, to win this starting job. I don't go to practices, but honestly if it took heckling like that to get the point across, I'd do the same thing. Again, though, I totally support what Gailey did and if I was part of that group in the stands, I'd expect nothing less from my head coach. Doesn't mean those hecklers aren't right though.
