He'll have his hands full today and I'm not worried about him in the run blocking today. I still think after this season to put him back to right tackle and draft one of the good players at left tackle out of college, like the guy from Wisconsin Joe Thomas.
-
Agreed. There has not been anyone else in my opinion who comes even close to him on the play by play. He made it more exciting than anyone. I was sorry that he didn't continue to do it. Did he stop when Hulk Hogan went to the WCW?
-
Hulk Hogan. But I didn't understand why he had to switch to a bad guy in the mid 90's.
-
I'm thinking the same thing. I'd like to have him as our middle linebacker for the next four years. He's been reliable ever since he's put on a Bills uniform. He's cut down on his penalities this year, that has made a big difference. Was yesterday his best game in as a Buffalo Bill?

I remember coming to the board before we had user names in 1996, and in 1997 we were pretty bad. But I think you are right, there wasn't this much gloom back then. I think we getting tired of losing. That's all there is too it.

Next year, we understand what needs to be addressed and the offensive line at three postions needs to be upgraded if we are go0ing to get better. I'd like to see Peters move back to right tackle at the end of this season. There are some guys coming out of the draft that are good left tackles. It would be a very good idea to draft one of them.
-
From what I witnessed when I was watching, the left side of the line played pretty well, but Pennington well, I think maybe we need to put someone else in there. I don't think he's ready. He got beat for two sacks. I saw Brad Butler come in at the end of the game. Maybe they are giving him a chance to start next week.

I agree with the first and last. Tripplett hasn't done very much yet, but I'd like to see him with a tackle next to him that can make plays. Williams is still developing and McCargo is hurt. We knew that Price was going to be a number 3 or 4 guy. Brees was going to New Orleans almost no matter what, that was the guy that the Saints targeted. McFarland has question marks and Clements is our best corner. OL, well that is something that hasn't been addressed since.... can someone help me out on that?

gandy out at LT, peters to LT, reyes benched ...

Change is good, however, this is a major change. I think moving Gandy to left guard and Peters to left tackle is a good move. But Pennington, a guy that hasn't played at all moving to the right tackle? Oh my, I wonder if we are going to max protect a lot of the time. If we continue to lose, I am still pulling for Joe Thomas out of Wisconsin to come in and play left tackle for us and move Peters to the right side again. -
I'd rather have Joe Thomas, left tackle from Wisconsin. That guy is going to be a solid player. It would be nice to have another Will Wolford.
-
The offensive line did not play well. We gave JP not a lot of time to throw and Willis had a good game getting what he could. This line is not going to get the job done. Next year this is our number one priority to get fixed. It starts with left tackle and then work your way across the line. Peters at right tackle is good but I would leave him there.
-
3 years is probably about right. This was a rebuilding year anyway you look at it. But the problem I have with all of this is that we aren't improving week by week. I think that's what makes this frustruating.
-
I think that looks about right but obviously we won't know unless they play. I think we will win against Green Bay. If we do, will anyone be talking about a possible run to the playoffs like 2004?
-
I agree, McGahee looked like he was in top form today. He didn't get very many holes to run through, but he made the most out of what he had. He ran hard and played like the back that we know he is.

Anyone still think we can afford to lose Clements?
BB2004 replied to daquixers_is_back's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that I think Clements is a good player and someone that would be good to keep, but I think that Clements is going to another team as soon as this season ends. Unless we make a deal for him soon he'll be the number one guy in free agency for the teams that need a cornerback. -
I thought Merz was alright today in his first start in the NFL. He gave up one sack that he just got beat but for the most part I thought that he held his own.
-
He hardly played. I am a little confused by the pickup because we have defensive ends on the team, but hey maybe he'll make an impact later in the season.
-
I'm not sure how I would feel if my team blew it like they did. On a positive note for them Matt Leinhart looked very good for them last night, definitely the face of their franchise for the next 10 to 15 years.
-
I'm not sure that was hard to figure out. Anyone who knows football knows that is not enough against one of the best teams in the NFL. However, the fumble by James really shocked me. Holding on to the ball for another 2 minutes might have been the difference in that game.
-
At this point putting in Holcomb is not a good idea. JP needs to learn at this point and needs to finish out a 16 game season as starting quarterback. Unless he is really making mistakes consistently, the I think the guy to replace him would be Nall.
-
Sounds like a rumor. If it does work out, I think it would be a good move for both teams. The Bills most likely will not re-sign Clements at the end of the year. McFarland is a good player who will stop the run, which this team needs a this point. If this trade somehow went through, I would like to see what would happen with our run defense.

I WASN'T GOING TO POST, BUT I'M TOO FURIOUS NOT TO
BB2004 replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, that is some post. But I agree with almost all of it. Reality has sunk in and this team is far away from being a contendor. Marv Levy gave an honest opinion on how long it would take and he did say that it will be tough to move the team in the right direction but thinks that it can be done with time. I think when it comes down to it, this season looks similar to last year. The difference is that we have a younger group of players. Its also nice to see that a lot of our draft picks this year are playing. -
I'm not sure we have the defensive tackles right now to compete with the better guards in this league. I like what I see from Kyle Williams but he can't do it by himself. Our defensive ends are more suited to play the rush. Denney is probably our best defensive end against the run.
-
I think a lot of times when we're winning it's a lot easier to ignore the weaknesses. Now that we are losing they are getting more exposed. Mike Gandy would be a good backup left tackle for us. Not a starting left tackle for us.

Bears 17 Bills 13 Close game coming down to the last play on fourth and goal.
