  1. I still believe that the coaching staff will decide next year what is best and how JP development is coming along. The ranks of insurance agents and car sales forces are littered with QB's that went into the game too early. My only hope is that when TD says "He gives us the best chance to win" he is really behind that statement and not starting Drew just to save face. I really don't care who is starting as long as it's the best QB we have on our roster. It took Elway (drafted 1983) 15 years before he won a super bowl, although he had lost the first 2 that he had participated in. In hindsight, ice would say that he saw this coming, yet in 1992 he would be screeching like a howler monkey with hemaroids that Elway must go, and until (insert any alternate here) gets playing time, the fans of Denver will never get a Ssuper Bowl victory. All I'm saying is relax, and let it play out.
  2. Actually ice is very rational, he has said that Bledsoe is done and we cannot win or even think about winning a super bowl until JP is in the drivers seat. That is all well and good. His claim that once JP begins taking snaps as a starter we will begin in earnest our quest for the holy grail. This may be true. What he is setting the table for is that he has told us that until JP gets his starting snaps we are fools to revel in any false sucess we see by Bledsoes hands, since that is not who shall ultimately lead us to the promised land, rather, an average QB who leads us to mediocracy. Looking at his projections, he states that until JP is given starting snaps, he cannot improve....absolutely correct, since no rookie qb has had his first start in the super bowl, ice has got himself covered, he cannot be wrong on this point since no starting QB in a Super Bowl has ever won on his first start, that being the super bowl. If we look even deeper, we see that of the winning QBs in super bowl history, most had been starters during the season that they played in the super bowl, again, ice is right, starters go to the super bowl. What he misses is the speed in which it takes a QB to be Super Bowl ready, look at the winning Qb's in all the Super Bowls...now look how long it took them to get there, Len Dawson was on his 2nd team and had waited 5 years before starting, Bart Starr...do you remember him? anyone know how long it was before he started? 4 years for Starr. I'm sure ice's demands that JP must start now are from his desire to see the team do well, but the fact is not all super bowl caliber QB's are thrown into the game and start the first year, Elway was a starter his first year, it took him quite a few years before he finally attained his first ring, Favre didnt start until his second year, Brady didnt start until his second year, Dilfer started 2 games in his rookie year, Brad Johnson 8 starts in his 5th year, Warner 0 starts in his first year, Namath started as a rookie, super bowl 3 years later. The reverse scenario, where a rookie QB is thrown in early (first season) and dissapears from the NFL is a more lengthy list, but a few off the top are Leaf, McGuire, Blackledge, and Couch. Anyone else can go do the research to flesh out all the others that were first round picks that were thrown in too early and failed miserably. I have to put some trust in the coaching staff, specifically Sam Wyche and Mularkey in knowing what is best for JP at this point. He will play when ready, and until then, he can prepare every game like he could go in at a moments notice.
  3. Loosely translated: "We were trying to win the game, but we were hamstrung by these ridiculous uniforms we are forced to wear" Said interin head coach Jim Bates. When we came out for the second half we realized that there were no fans left in the stands, since the Blue Plate specials would be starting in less than an hour. "We mailed it in from there". But with 2:05 left in the fourth quarter, Feeley attempted a pass to running back Travis Minor on the Miami 20 yard line but was intercepted by defensive tackle Pat Williams, who had eaten 317 hamburgers at halftime, Williams returned the interception to the end zone where he was rewarded with a large baked ham from the remaining dolphins fans.

  7. 144229[/snapback] If there is a chance at getting a copy of the comeback I would love to get that in DVD if possible. I had to sit on the front porch and watch through the window since the comeback started after I went out to get errands done (yes, I too didn't believe they would come back), I have yet to see the game from beginning to end.

  22. Ok, if I can recall this correctly, it was a game they played way back where for a charuty event, people would bake cakes and donate them. The for every "walk" there would be maybe 20 spaces, and 20 people, each paying a dollar. The people would walk around the spaces and then stop on a number, they would then draw a number out of a hat, the winner "takes the cake". This was like 40 years ago at a church bazaar (Mount St. Marys in Kenmore), I was just a little kid, but I never remember ever winning any frickin cakes
  23. Absolutely not!!!!! How can MM properly make decisions for the team in that fashion? Ask ice, by sitting in a bar in Tulsa, he is able to see that JP needs to get in now or all winning seasons for the Bills will be postponed for each missed start. You hit it right on the head! MM and the coaching staff see JP every day, they know what he is capable of and they have a pretty good idea what his knowledge of the game is when he is in the team meetings and film sessions. You have to trust the coaches on this one. JP will get plenty of time under center when he is ready, have a little patience and let the coaches evaluate the talent.
  24. IMO, the reason the new Qbs are desirable is one I have stated several times whenever I stopped joking around. That is Fre agency has made the tandard, pocket passer extinct. Because no team is willing to sign long term big money contracts to lineman, a mobile QB is desirable. Look at the late 80's,early 90's, The Bills had a solid line, that was allowed to jell together, they played several years together and were a very close knit group, even with injuries, a new guy could step in, and in the case of a free agent signing, we had depth, and we just moved on.. Kelly was never considered a mobile QB, he could take his time and pick apart a defense. Fast forward to today, because of the salary cap, the offensive lineman are frequently seen changing teams because most teams will not keep a line together for a 3-5 year period. It just costs too much to keep a group together. Those Bills teams were built with a strong cohesive offensive line that was working together for 3-5 years, and if one took off or retired, the replacement just stepped in. Todays QB must be mobile enough to step up or roll aout away from pressure since the units are not quite as polished as they were several years ago, thus we see the success of McNabb, Culpepper, Favre and Vick, while pure pocket passers like Blesdoe, Green and Collins/Gannon have looked to be on the decline. Just my opinion
