Who tops your list of "he's just not cuttn' it?" Who d
Matt in KC replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chandler has been lumbering out there. I don't think he's 100%, and shouldn't be playing, at least not yet. Hopefully he's week/s away and this isn't his new normal. Grag - I'm thrilled at the thought of a pass-catching TE who is fast, but he really hasn't looked good at all. I'm fine giving the rookie time to develop, but I don't think he's ready. Can anyone comment on his blocking? The couple plays I've seen him block (literally 2 I think) have been underwhelming. Lee Smith I think is our best option right now. And we need to add another solid TE to this team. Why can the Bill not land a proper TE? ------------------- I'm willing to give Graham more time and chances. I've been disappointed with his hands, but am not sure if that's a streak, or just how he is. I need more data. From what I've heard, he's getting separation in games, just not being target most of the time. I'd like to see more of Easley too. I don't know if he's ready to be a regular reciever, but I'd like to see 5-10 plays a game, with a couple targets (assuming he gets open etc.). -
Why didn't we tag Levitre instead of Byrd?
Matt in KC replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was in favor of re-signing Levitre. I saw how we struggled for years and years with crappy o-line play (Trey Teague, Mike Pucillo etc.) and thought we needed to overpay Levitre because we didn't want to jeopardize the development of our young new QB. Knowing what I know now, that he had issues with his knee, and Manuel is coming along fine, not getting killed, I think we did the right thing. We still need a better LG, but I'm fine with Brown as a backup. -
Late Games: Love 'Em? or Hate 'Em?

I like prime-time, but not the Sunday 4:00 slot, it just kills my whole day. -
Congratulations to the Jackson Family - baby #4 for Fred
Matt in KC replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BB.com says the following: "Fred Jackson became a dad for the fourth time in the last 24 hours, but he’s at practice this morning" Holy cow! 4 kids in 24 hours? It's strange they didn't say quadruplets. . . . Congrats to Fred. I have very vey very little to go on, but I bet he's a great dad. -
Mario Williams - AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Matt in KC replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's there now, along with Aaron Williams tied for 3rd in tackles. I also saw these scrolling on NFL Network yesterday. -
Chargers sign CB Crezdon Butler
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he looked much better than Meeks and hope we weren't biased toward our draft picks if they were clearly out-performed. That said, I'm no expert, and perhaps Meeks will be better than Butler in a year or two. Also, who is Johnny Adams? -
**** that's hilarious!

Bolts sign cornerback Crezdon Butler Good for him! I always liked the kid. I wish him the best. I'm still surprised we didn't give him a shot, even with our DBs hurt. (Does Westerman, Jamaal really add more to the team?)
-
I disagree. As challenged as Brown has been this year, he looked much much better in pre-season than Legursky, who was playing against worse competition, and that was before he got hurt. "Addition by subtraction" is lazy thinking. Have you actually seen Legursky play better? If Legurski has to play, we're in big trouble. Next year's starting left guard is not yet on the team.

When you say you "plotted the date through two games in 2013 and 2012" do you mean all of 2012 or just the first two games last year as well? Did the first two games last year look much different than the whole of lsat year?

He's had 4 plays called an INT, but only one of them count. That's crazy. I'm starting to think this cat has 9 lives. . . .

So does Byrd play on sunday or not?
Matt in KC replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the idea is another team would then have to franchise him and work out a long term deal rather than lose him at the end of the year. So, this limits his suitors to teams that don't need to use the tag on another player. Or, like you said, a team in dire straights trying to make a playoff run needs to think he can help this year, which won't happen if he can't even play. -
Game On! What were you're greatest victories or tragedies?
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in Fantasy Football
When I won a few years ago, I traded a ton of picks with the guy at the other end of the draft so our picks were more regularly spaced. I picked #1, then we switched selections in the 2nd, 4th, 6th etc. (all even rounds) so I picked first every round. That way I moved up 11 spots every other round. I convinced him it was best for both us to not have to wait so long to pick, and gave up a 4th or 5th round pick I earned from a trade the previous year. This was a 2-keeper league at the time, so those were not premium picks, but it meant it was even more important for me to pick early to land guys that would make a difference. In his mind he was moving down 11 places in the 2nd for a 4th round pick, and the rest was so late it didn't matter compared with the strategic advantage of picking more regularly. Sorry about your fantasy QB this week... (though I was thrilled to see Brady struggle). -
JETS D looks really good ... Offense, meh ...
Matt in KC replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And to pick on Geno a bit more... he really seems to have questionable pocket presence. He missed several opportunities, or actively created a problem for himself by leaving the pocket too soon. I wonder if he's one of those QBs who will just not be able to stand in there after he takes a few NFL-caliber shots. -

I was pretty impressed with Geno until the end, except for his deep throws. He looked better than I expected... until the end. I saw it how you did. I didn't think the Jets defense was great, and said to myself: "it was Pettine who was aggressive, not Rex!" I liked their run defense better, but our scheme, and even the coverage by our young guys better. Oh, I thnik he's good enough at staring! I'm so glad Geno isn't on the Bills. I just don't like the guy! -
Awesome! I think you should have posted this in the "Just sent an email to the Bills voicing my displeasure " thread. If you do, be sure to mention your buddy has been a season ticket holder for over three years!

Game On! What were you're greatest victories or tragedies?
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in Fantasy Football
------------------------------------- I took the following 1-2-3: 1.8 Arian Foster 2.5 Matt Forte 3.8 Frank Gore I have never selected RB-RB-RB before. I took Gore in the 3rd because I didn't like the QBs (Rogers and Brees gone; Brady and Manning taken right before me). After week 1 I thought I'd screwed up not taking Welker (taken the pick before my 4th round pick of Cruz). BUT - last year's champ made it to the draft late and the computer auto-drafted for him, not taking a RB until the 5th round! He just traded Calvin Johnson to me for Gore. No one else was in a position to part with a quality RB. So, Buftex, I guess you just have to wait to see how it turns out. And I agree; do not overreact to the first week or two. -

Brady will be solid again, I'm afraid. I'm curious what rhythm Peyton settles down into after a few weeks. If you landed Welker, I don't think you missed out as well. Those two might really light it up this year. Brady+Welker sounds better to me than Peyton+Randall Cobb (or whoever). Who did you take in rounds 1 + 2? And I'm assuming congratulations are in order for last year if you're picking last year. -
Go ahead, try to say "Stupid Superstition" five times fast.

Congrats on Cook! ----- For my drama, I left Cruz on my bench this week in favor of Bowe. Now I need a big Monday night from Foster and Garcon, bu tthink it's unlikely to be enough. -
He did very well indeed. One other punt was inches away from being perfect, hopping right over the pylon.

Mario Williams has Plantar Fasciitis too
Matt in KC replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I very much have a problem with post #2 ("cry baby Jairus Byrd"). And I now understand why the original post was made. I typically appreciate Alphadog's posts, and hope I didn't come off wrong. Public Service Announcement: Mario's been having foot issues that may or may not come back or affect him. Other players may also have injuries of various natures that may or may not affect them before and after this game. That is all. And never mind, really. I usually don't criticize threads. If people want to discuss whatever, let them go ahead. For me this just epitomizes the off-season drivel I'm tired of... Sorry to be a game-day grouch. I am psyched for some real football!!!!!!. -

Matt in KC replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is old news. I know why NFL.com is posting it: hype and generating clicks. I wondered why you were posting it here. The comparison was the word "too" in the title. As I posted: Are you worried Mario can't play, or implying something about Byrd (in yet another thread)? There's nothing here. If I hadn't heard this before, it would be worth mentioning. Understanding you hadn't heard this makes it make more sense to me. But now that you know this came out quite awhile ago and the team isn't concerned about it, do you think there's anything left here besides the same old "Byrd's a baby and Mario's not" nonesense that's aready been beaten to death? -

Matt in KC replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This injury has a full spectrum of manifestation; it might be a big deal, or not. It's lazy hype to do this kind of comparison, even if we could tell how far down the spectrum each player is. So, to this topic, I offer a big fat So What? Are you worried Mario can't play, or implying something about Byrd (in yet another thread)? There's nothing here. I say move along, and let's focus on football instead of armchair medical blathering....
