  1. Since the preseason posts are lost... or at least inaccessible, I thought I'd post a reminder that Stevestojan bet sfladave1 $100 that the Bills would allow more than 40 sacks this year. I got in on the action for $50. The details were: Less than 40 Sacks (according to NFL.com) sfladave and I win More than 40 sacks Stevestojan wins 40 Sacks = Push Bets payable via Paypal. While it's still close, I'm feeling pretty good about the Bills giving up 5 or fewer sacks again *gulp* the top ranked defense. At least the Steelers are only eighth in number of sacks (we're 6th).
  2. That was really bizarre, and downright dangerous. (Go ahead, get a running start and take one free whack at our QB from the blind side!) All I could think of is that he must have been 100% sure the snap count was later and the play must be whistled down due to a false start by his teammates. Even so, you don't let a DE run unimpeded at your QB, even if the play is dead. Either that, or he was having a spiritual epiphany of the level that might make him spontaneously retire. Or he should have been brought into the lockerroom immediately for neurological (or psychological) tests. Bih-zarre.... I think, at very least, he might not be active for the next game, to send a message to his teammates.
  3. At the start of each game, I crack open a nice cold Sam Adams (and keep them coming if the defense is doing well). So far, so good.... Somehow though, if I find myself on a TiVo delay (buffered), I feel like I have been taken out of the mojo-pool and am no longer influencing the game.
  4. I agree with you; it's irresponsible and unrespectable to raise the issue without cause. But, to suggest that all the people writing for NFL.com and ESPN.com are journalists is pretty funny. I too am suprised someone hasn't thrown this out there to unscroupulously grab a a little spotlight.
  5. I'd love for the Jets and Broncos to both lose, and the Bills win. We'd be the 5th seed in the AFC, and three teams would make the playoffs from the AFC East, which is remarkable. It will be nice to see some AFC East stories if this scenario plays out. With 36 wins so far, the AFC East is already showing everyone it is a tough division.
  6. Is it just me, or does it seem like /dev/null has been posting A LOT recently to anyone else?
  7. In-Division ties: 1) Record 2) Division Record 3) Common Opponents 4) Conference Record ... This changed when the league changed to the 8 division structure and standardized so many of the common opponents within a division for each year.
  8. The next tiebreaker is common opponents, which we would win. Also, for multiple-team ties, you settle all in-division ties first, so we'd knock the Jets out.
  9. Well both the Bengals and the ref's have stripes on their uniforms....
  10. Um... No. The Bills are 12 yards per game behind the Steelers, 269.4 vs. 257.0, meaning that the Steelers need to allow 198.4 (12.4 x 16 games) more yards than the Bills in the last three weeks to have the same average per game. And, the Bills D is currently in third. The Redskins are allowing 261.6 yards per game, so the Bills need to allow 73.6 less yards to catch the Redskins. Last week's performance did distance the Bills from 4th place considereably though, now approx 15 ypg better than Denver. http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/DEF-...ar?sort_col_1=4
  11. For unknown reasons, after a good play on Sunday, Takeo Spikes again imitated the "Elaine dance" from the hit comedy Seinfeld.
  12. ...or maybe in addition to kicking the dog and punching the wife? Thanks for the stats Traveling.... I hope other teams reach the same conclusions when contemplating a trade for henry. I do think WM is a superior back, but the Henry deserves a lot of respect for what he accomplished as well. He's a middle-of-the-pack starting RB, and probably the league's best #2 (when healthy enough to play).
  13. Trumaine Johnson -WR late 80's
  14. And they've surrendered only 13 sacks over the last nine games (after giving up 19 in the first 4)! And have run back 5 kicks for TDs, by 3 different players.
  15. For all 3-team ties, any two in the same division are compared first (and one eliminated). For teams in the same division, record against common opponents is a higher tiebreaker than conference record, and so we'd beat the Jets if we're 10-6 each.
  16. NFL.com says 2 by rushing, 3 by passing, and 1 by penalty, but I swear I remember at least 2 by penalty (Posey lined up in neutral zone, and I thought the Schoebel offsides, but actually that lead to a TD, not a first down)
  17. And the Bills with 8 sacks!? Wow....
  18. Clint Malarchuk - sliced in the late 80's... has to be mentioned. I can't believe I didn't see it was hockey goalies until I almost posted. I was ready to throw out these others I remember watching: Mike Ramsey Mike Foligno Christian Ruuttu Uwe Krupp
  19. And you know, I'll bet Irregardless shows up in a US dictionary in approximately 3-5 years. The written word follows the spoken word; and the dictionary reports the written word.... Ain't it grand?
  20. That was a great story someone here posted (Mark VI?). That one and the Krumrie wrestling/hand-checking stories were by far my favorites from preseason....
  21. I completely agree. It's very refreshing. I'll have to go look up some 1st half / second half stats. I have the feeling they're pretty impressive.
  22. Does anyone else think he hurt his knee when Euhus dove into the back of it on his TD in the endzone? From his reaction then I thought he might have been hurt, and thought that's why he stayed down later later.... I haven't heard any news except the ACL comment here. Anyone know anything else?
  23. So, Willis scores twice and DB throws 3 TDs... I guess Lindell missed all of the extra points, huh? (5 x 6 = 30)
  24. While the heroism of Pat Tillman and others can be debated, it's a shame to take away the focus of a positive thread like this one singing Michael J. Fox's praise. He certainly is inspiring! I'd love to hear him speak some day.
