  1. no, you're lazy.
  2. Why would something on the Buffalo News not have a link?
  3. I see what you're saying, and ultimately, I agree with your conclusion that if Jauron goes, the next HC could be anybody. I'm just wondering about how these hires were made. Keep in mind that a lot changes over 50 years. I don't know who was making the decision to hire half these people (I came of age in the Levy years), but the hires since Levy seem to be fairly easy to explain. Wade was the DC and was an obvious choice at that point (and was successful, too). Greggo was a hot coordinator who was picked by Donahoe. Same with Mularkey, whose offense was coming off a down year, but was someone who Donahoe knew from his time in Pittsburgh. Jauron was clearly Levy's choice. So, of the four post-Levy hires, I wouldn't attribute any of them directly to Wilson. This next one, however, probably will be the most Wilson-driven hire since Marv, and that is why it could be very interesting to study Wilson's tendencies.
  4. So what did you learn? What does this say about whom to expect next?
  5. FWIW, ESPN has Orakpo as the third-highest DE, behind Maybin from Penn St and Brown from FSU. Although they look like they may be tweener types, they're the same size as Orakpo. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/colu...&id=3787089
  6. Does anyone else think this huge screw-up could have been mitigated if the pilot had only said "I'm not certified to land" instead of "I'm not qualified?" They do have different meanings...
  7. I think the evidence is pretty strong against this conclusion. Matt Light, who made it in 2006 and 2007, failed to repeat this year. Marcus McNeil likewise made it in 2006 and 2007 and not this year. The Steelers' LT, Marvel Smith, is a one-time Pro Bowler, in 2005, and never repeated. Willie Anderson made four straight, but now hasn't been back in two years. I think tackles have the opportunity to stand out more than guards, meaning voters are more able to determine year-by-year who the goods ones are.
  8. I thought this joke dated from the time of the anthrax letters.
  9. Mr. Bot, what do you know about the DE and C from Penn State? The C was named first team All American ahead of Mack.
  10. Oh yeah, I'd say there are some exceptions.
  11. He's written about the irrational belief in the intertwined fates before, but I'm still not that means he's a fan. It may just be civic pride. I actually read that story when it came out. I e-mailed a friend who works at ESPN to complain that I have to go to the Atlantic to find Easterbrook actually writing about football. Why is he so obsessed with intergalactic combat?
  12. I put in a 5 and got a text box. I wrote it depends on if Jauron is coming back.
  13. I know he's from Buffalo, but is he a Bills' fan?
  14. Demarcus Ware wasn't the Bills' pick. Marcus Spears was.
  15. No one. Of course, if you already paid full price for the ticket, things might be different.
  16. Better point in the article is when he calls the team "practically uncoached."
  17. I've got to disagree with this. The D got off to a slow start, but after that, they were amazing. Three straight 3 and outs in the fourth quarter, including one where the Jets were starting just outside our red zone after a turnover. The D could have quit at that point, but they stuffed Jones on a huge 3rd down. And all of that is just another reason the playcall was bad. Given how the D was playing and how Moorman was punting, on top of how Lynch was running adds up to ugh. We've debated this before. A lot of people on this board are critical of the D because they don't come up big in big moments. Well, those were some very big moments Sunday, and on four 4th Quarter possessions, they held the Jets to a total of 18 yards. And it's only because of the offense that we're not talking about how "big" they were.
  18. It's not that nobody is assigned to him. It's that it becomes the quarterback's responsibility to be alert to him. On Edwards' concussion play, he was supposed to be aware of Wilson, and he said afterward that it was his own fault for not getting rid of the ball quicker. The key is that as long as Peters knows his assignment (lets assume it was to pick up Pace) and Losman knows Peters' assignment, then Losman will know if anyone is assigned to Elam and can accordingly.
  19. BillsNYC, Until Shefter confirmed the contract, did you not assume there was one? That was what everyone was saying, and there was no reason to think it particularly implausible. So, if you thought before yesterday that Jauron could be fired, then you could still think so today. The fact that it was just signed yesterday means it could have been an option contract, and the fact that Ralph didn't know if Jauron signed an extension or not could have been legitimate. If that is true, though, that just makes Jauron an even bigger dick.
  20. Please. The word Collinsworth used was incompetence.
  21. There was that possible overdose that wasn't that was again. He had 25 million reasons to live, though.
  22. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12142008/sport..._end_144174.htm Dick Jauron, not Shaun Ellis Shaun Ellis , looked like the one who was smoking something at the end of today's stunning Jets New York Jets victory over Buffalo. The Bills coach inexplicably called a pass with two minutes left and his team in complete control that resulted in a J.P. Losman fumble, which Ellis recovered and returned for an 11-yard touchdown, giving the Jets a 31-27 home win. ... Buffalo (6-8) got the ball with 4:20 left and Marshawn Lynch (21 rushes, 127 yards) making the Jets' defense look invisible. Lynch carried the ball four times for 17 yards before Jauron wrote his own pink slip. ... The play call left both sides shaking their heads. As Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud walked to the locker room he said, "Just run the (bleeping) ball" to a teammate. "All I can say is, 'wow,' " Favre said. "There are several things on that play that make you scratch your head."
  23. Just saw his name on the stat sheet. I thought we didn't bring him back because of a career-ending neck injury. He was never a great player, but I always liked the guy.
  24. Did anyone else know Coy Wire is playing for the Falcons? Interesting.
