  1. And...props to the D.
  2. Now for the nine-minute drive.
  3. Can you imagine what will happen to this board if Chroise wins the game now?
  4. Does anyone know if we deferred the toss?
  5. "It will be hard for the cash-strapped Bills to eat the extension" is not news. It's opinion. I think we've all pretty much assumed already that the extension was signed.
  6. Here's another perspective on what Big Three workers make that's not as favorable: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/10/business...tml?_r=3&hp
  7. Just to add to the Dr.'s wisdom, Bill Belichick was 36-44 when the Patriots hired him.
  8. So you know, that's about as great a list of FA QBs you will see in your life. A true franchise QB absolutely never hits the open market.
  9. Depends what you mean by "pass this off." Will they use it as a marketing tool? No, they have too much respect for the fans' intelligence. (stop snickering.) Will they use it as a basis to keep Jauron? More likely.
  10. The Bears were not continuing to move downfield just to kick a shorter field goal. They were also trying to score a game-winning touchdown. The Bills had no need to score a touchdown, because a field goal would suffice. So, the only incentive for the Bills to move downfield was to kick a shorter field goal. Different incentives, different strategies.
  11. Don't take this as my agreeing with Jauron, but a couple differences in the situations: A Bills' field goal wins it. A Bears' field goal only ties it. Bills were averaging over 5 ypc rushing. Bears were averaging only 3. It's familiar, not the same.
  12. Every time you hear an athlete say something, think about what else he could've said. Only then determine if it's worth anything.
  13. I do think three years removed from TD Ralphie may be willing to part with that kind of control of the team. And for the cash? Probably not enough to get Cowher, but maybe a top assistant. Ralphie will realize eventually that if you're already spending 120M on the team, you might as well go the extra 5M for a coach that can win. Simple math.
  14. They didn't teach us that yet.
  15. I have my contracts final Monday. You have a valid claim. Just because the ad says "as is" doesn't override his other claim that it works great. His failure to live up to that condition still qualifies as breach of contract. A reasonable understanding of the two terms together would be the player works but may contain a scratch here and there. Law school!!!!!
  16. I think that's the right line of thinking. "Come on. You've been buying tickets to 43 championship-less seasons, why stop now?"
  17. If you don't buy tickets to the 2009 Bills, be prepared to buy tickets to the 2010 LA Starlets.
  18. That depends. How bad do you think this team is? After the first Miami game and the Jets game, did you leave with the impression that the better team won? I wouldn't pin Edwards' interceptions on Marv, or the team's inability to get a suitable backup to Reed with a second round pick on Marv. Be nice Bill.
  19. Mike Jenkins, if he's still available.
  20. He has a 4-0 record. Think of it this way. Say Jauron is making $1 million a year now. He and the Bills know if his contract expires after he leads the Bills to a 13-3 record and a first-round bye, somebody will pay him $3 million. So, the Bills come to him when they're 4-0 (actually, this all happened when they were 5-1) and say, "We'll pay you $2 million now and you don't have to worry about a collapse down the stretch." Tada! That's how you bargain with leverage.
  21. This wouldn't make sense. Why would Jauron sign an extension that only takes effect if he gets a huge bargaining chip? People who sign incentive-triggered extensions don't do so right before they reach free-agency.
  22. Mods, administrators: Can I propose a message board rule that we ban the phrase "Parcells-type"? There is one Parcells, and he works for the Dolphins. He is not a type.
  23. We run a system? Pray tell, what is it?
  24. I would start with Spags. He unquestionably took a mediocre defense and made it great. With McDaniels, you have to wonder what he would be without the receivers and Brady. (Well, we know what he is without Brady - five more losses than last year, and counting). Spags lost Osi and Strahan and is still running one of the best defenses in the league. And he's aggressive. When was the last time the Bills were aggressive? We should find a roll for Turner Gill. Maybe Gameday Coordinator.
