We lack talent at RB. Also Zach Moss suffered a serious injury before proving he can handle the load. Brieda isn't anything more than a reserve RB with speed. SF has a great system for RB'S. Hard to feel confident he can recreate that success here.
Teams bluff all the time in the draft. Motive unknown. I would do it just to mess with the Jets. Then laugh when they trade up thinking some team is trying to steal their guy.
One of our better drafts in 2012 Buddy Nix said before the 2nd round that Jonathan Martin was the best player not selected in the 1st. When the Bills pick came in the 2nd Martin was still there. The Bills took Cordy Glenn.
Rewind to 2018 when news came out about the Bills trying to trade up for Josh Allen and not Darnold or Rosen. Fans were losing their minds.
Travis Etienne would be a fantastic pick. Hopefully the Bills don't give up too much.
You wonder if the 49ers are comparing Jones to Tua. Neither player is physically gifted. Jones ran the offense as well or better. I believe WR's at Alabama preferred Jones. The Shanahan's liked Kirk Cousins over the more talented RG3. Could be a similar scenario.
This topic has come and gone dozens of times. It's a league. They make the rules. No one is stopping non contracted members to form another league with different rules.
A lot can happen in a year. Almost anyone we draft at 30 will be a part-time player unless we strike gold. If it's Zaven he'll likely play the role Alexander played his final season. Played about half the snaps. After next year a lot can happen. Edmunds might be gone and Taron Johnson is a UFA. Who knows how much nickel we play.
Just draft the best player on the board. The rest will work itself out.
Some of the dropped INTs from the video they posted really shouldn't be considered dropped INTs. Some of them were either contested plays or no chance of an INT. Not really sure what their criteria is.
Some were right in the Dbs hands. Allen is going to have these plays because he believes in his arm too often. But I wouldn't have him change a thing. There's more good than bad.
Basically. And there is no reason to believe Oliver, Edmunds, or Epenesa can't make a huge jump in play. Still a lot of story to be written, but we need at least one of these players to be more than average.
I think the problem is the contract. He's getting at least a Milano deal. More likely closer to $15 million per. I don't think as of now he's that player. Most would love him at the money he's at, but this is the last year for that. Time is now to decide if he's a future leader of the defense or not.
