  1. Allen is a great player, most likely a future HOFer, but Mahomes is Michael Jordan in cleats. There’s no one in the league that plays the position better than that guy. I don’t think Josh could’ve taken the same KC team with those subpar weapons and made the AFCCG. We went from Tom Brady abusing us for over a decade, to Mahomes sending us home in the playoffs every time the two have faced off. The accolades speak for themselves, while our guy has none. No Super Bowl appearances, no MVPs, no All Pro nods, and is barely a Pro Bowl invitee (I know, the Pro Bowl means nothing). I do hope Lamar sends him home Sunday, even if that invites constant and annoying ball washing praise for Lamar. I’m just tired of Mahomes elevating that team when they should be in retool mode (last year) or in a down year (this season). He’s like The Terminator, or as Reid called him, “The Grim Reaper.”
  2. That doesn’t bother me as much as passing on AJ Brown and DK Metcalf a year earlier. I’m not sure Beane and co can properly evaluate receivers. Of course the same can be said for the rest of the league given how late those guys went, BUT you’ve gotta take a swing on one at some point and he’s never felt any of them were worth the value.
  3. From The Atheltic: Dear Beane, we need a young, big, fast and physical WR1 in the mold of DK Metcalf. Thank you.
  4. Ivan Pace Jr (UDFA) would’ve been a phenomenal late draft pick in retrospect. All other players who made this list were 1st-3rd rounders.
  5. The interesting part about the video is that when Josh decided to make the throw and Shakir had yet to uncover, the safety was in a position where he could’ve had leverage if he played the endzone rather than the man. Meaning, if he was watching Josh in his zone while keeping Shakir in his peripheral, it could’ve easily been an INT. Warner said based on where the safety was and where Shakir was running, he would’ve came off the read and hit Diggs on the crosser. I agreed watching the route develop on the tape and where the safety was at the time, but as we know Josh is aggressive. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don’t. Unfortunately that one didn’t and we’re back to waiting for the offseason.
  6. FIFY. If we want to say the DB was holding Sherfield’s arm on the first, okay, but it didn’t look like he was trying to fight him off and get his arm away (which might’ve drawn PI), but the second long pass downfield I feel most receivers in the league will come down with. When Sherfield got up protesting to the ref that he caught the ball, he gave me hope watching from home and then I see on the replay it clearly hit the turf and I’m like “dude, what are you arguing??”
  7. Final 2nd & 9 and 3rd & 9 really illustrate how Josh got out of taking what the defense was giving him versus wanting to go for the kill shot TD. Both plays had available receivers for potential first down yardage. But, as Warner says, up until that point he had played virtually perfect football. To beat another QB playing close to perfect, it would’ve taken perfection all throughout. The lapse got us. To be clear, I don’t blame Josh, I blame the sieve of a defense. It’d be interesting to see how often we disrupted their routes.
  8. It’s unfair to attack him personally. Fans have to be bigger than that. I maintain the game was over if he had nailed that kick anyway. No way was that defense stopping Mahomes from getting at least a FG. All that said, I think Bass is cooked. It was discussed yesterday that once a kicker’s mind goes into yips mode, they never recover to become one of the best in the league, which is what we need him to be given that contract. He may have another year or two where he returns to form and does well, but make no mistake, if the yips leave it’s only temporary, they’ll be coming back at some point and now that he’s missed a playoff game tie/winner he has that to further cloud his mind.
  9. A willingness to tackle doesn’t account for much if the play goes for a long gain because the tackle is missed. Without going back to look, I’m almost certain the 80 something yard run Breece Hall had in the opener happened because Tre missed a tackle at the LoS. He showed a willingness to hit Hall, but what does it matter if he can’t bring him down?
  10. Actually the All-22 from many games shows that he’s open far more than you’d imagine, but for whatever reason he and Josh don’t usually connect. They have little to no chemistry. In turn the defense doesn’t prioritize Gabe as a player that could threaten them. Perhaps that’s the real reason why he’s open, it’s not precision level route running.
  11. His play certainly fell off a cliff. Someone else said he was dealing with a shoulder injury.
  12. Could you imagine Tre being the last line of defense with a charging Derrick Henry running at him? Hyde has taken him down in this exact scenario, but tackling has never been Tre’s strong suit and you need sure tacklers at safety. I believe he’d have the mind to play the position, but not the physicality.
  13. Which is why I’m NOT a fan of trading up for a position that isn’t QB, regardless who Beane thinks he can reach. We need more young players on cost controlled contracts. There are numerous guys we could’ve picked in the 4th round the last two years that would’ve been a core starter or great depth. Every non-QB we’ve traded up for, there’s been someone who goes later who’s either just as good or better. Trade down if anything.
  14. Very true. I don’t know any kicker who went from having the yips, to being one of the best in the league. Once one goes through that, it’s over. Guaranteed to crop up again at some point in the future. Kicker is an isolating job, I wouldn’t want it.
  15. It would’ve been the most unlikeliest of Bills teams to win it all, which is why I held out hope they’d do it. I don’t know if they would’ve gotten past Baltimore next week, because that team is better than KC when they’re clicking on all cylinders. 49ers are thought of as a powerhouse, but get beat by most physical AFC teams, so I would’ve liked our chances against Purdy. I also don’t think the roster will be as strong (or deep) as the current rendition for awhile.
  16. He was in camp and made a few plays. Also supposedly an elite gunner. I wish I was a young safety prospect in the upcoming NFL draft (or now). Theres no other team I’d pick than one that might have two holes at the position.
  17. If you watch the games you’ll inherently be pulling for one or the other. I was the biggest Giants fan when they beat the 18-0 Pats. I had never been so emotionally invested in a team that wasn’t the Bills.
  18. I wish we were up by less than 3 in the :13 secs game.
  19. I never bought into him being the best. I thought he was probably the purest and craftiest route runner, but he never had physical attributes a defense had to fear - size (average), speed (above average), hands (excellent?). He’s a high level possession receiver and should’ve received a 2 year pay raise - not one for almost $100M - given his age and malcontent history.
  20. Notice you won’t find any quotes from Diggs since he declined to speak with the media. When everyone was clamoring to give him an extension a couple years ago, I didn’t want to do it, but understood it made for a happier player. What I didn’t like was that it was a 4 year, $96M extension. Should've given him a 2 year extension/pay raise at most given his age. His MIN contract would be expiring right about now.
  21. He and Allen just don’t have good chemistry. And I’m sure he feels the same way as his mother, that he’s an “afterthought” in the offense. You know they’ve discussed it with each other.
  22. My Super Bowl rooting order: Lions 49ers Ravens Chiefs #anyonebutKC
  23. I guess I should’ve mentioned I’m not in favor of trading up for any position that isn’t a QB, so my responses are a bit biased from that standpoint. Loved what Kincaid brought to the team, but didn’t like trading up to get him. Hated trading up for Elam too. I feel there’s always players that go after the infatuation who prove to be just as good or better. Of course the trick is hitting on that player. But in regards to trading up, if I compiled a list of 4th rounders we had the opportunity to draft if not for the trade up, you’d cry. If Dallas had selected Kincaid, I was all for trading back and accumulating lottery tickets. I’ll admit that LaPorta wasn’t even on my radar, all I heard was Kincaid and Meyer being the top two premiere TEs. Kudos to Detroit for picking LaPorta ahead of Meyer in the 2nd.
  24. That’s the problem, you don’t know if you’re mortgaging picks to select a future all pro, a middling player, or a bust like Quentin Johnson (yes it’s early but I’m calling it already). Good receivers can be had all over the draft. Picking at the top gives you a better chance to hit on a great talent, but you also run the risk of selecting a JAG. For a team in need of youth on cheap contracts, I’m just not in favor of mortgaging picks for a lottery ticket. Just for fun, these were a few difference makers selected after 28: 2 Deebo Samuel 36 AJ Brown 51 George Pickens 52 DK Metcalf 64 3 Tank Dell 69 Cooper Kupp 69 Terry McLaurin 76 Chris Godwin 84 Nico Collins 89 4 Amon-Ra St Brown 112 5 Stefon Diggs 146 Hunter Renfrow 149 Tyreek Hill 165 Darius Slayton 171 Puka Nacua 177
  25. I feel opposite. This team needs an infusion of youth on cheap contracts, you can’t get that trading away capital. Difference making receivers aren’t only found at the top of the first round, it’s easier to identify one in theory, but they get selected pretty much throughout the first to the fifth round. Just gotta hit on the right one(s).
