  1. It true. I heard it as well. We could have had not named whitner, and thus 10 captains instead of just 6, including a center and a guard.
  2. Whitner was a reach for team captain.
  3. Good post. I've said before, the ACC is in a down cycle, in large part to both Miami and FSU not being good. Us 2 teams basically carry the conference. But, we do have the potential in the future to have 3 very good teams (FSU, UM, VT), and a handful of decent teams (BC, Wake, Ga Tech, Clemson). As for the SEC, you hit the nail on the head. No one is going to argue that SEC teams arent good, but its the arrogance of SEC fans that turns most people off to those teams. SEC fans are almost on par with pats* fans in their obnoxious arrogance. They think they are so great, and that their "so-great" conference should give them a title game berth, but they are so afraid to play any good OOC competition.
  4. Good to hear you and the fam are safe.
  5. It is important to sign your own, and i like the polian method. He's said before (i dont have a link), that the most important positions in his mind to the team are QB, WR, LT, DE, and S. Everyone else is replaceable. His keys are to spend the big bucks to keep the stars on your team at those positions, lock up your younger players early, and let the good but replaceable players walk, which is why he's let their LBs, CBs, and even Edge James walk for huge paydays after contract #1. The Bills have shown good promise in locking up younger players for cheap (butler, williams, peters 2 yrs ago). They've shown a willingness to re-sign DEs and pay them, and they obviously value the S position. They need to devote their resources to keep the other pieces, WR and LT. Crowell and Greer can be replaced without missing a step. Peters and Evans cannot. (i agree peters is underpaid, but i strongly disagree with his bonehead negotiating tactics)
  6. Evans should take 60 mil. Just personally, i think 7 yrs, 50-55 mil with 15-18 guaranteed will keep Evans in Buffalo. I also think that 6 years, 55-60 mil, 25 guaranteed will keep Peters here. If the Bills are serious about winning, both of these contracts should be paid out before FA hits next march. If we need ot let Crowell and Greer go to do it, so be it. McKelvin/Youboty/Corner can easily replace greer, and we can draft a LB early on next year. See, we dont even need a 1st round CB to replace Greer. We took care of that this year!
  7. On the open Market, Lee Evans will easily get a contract surpassing Berrian. He'd get a deal approaching that of Andre Johnson. (6 yrs, 60 million). I'd rather slightly overpay to keep a player like Evans than see him walk. As you mentioned earlier, the Bills need to keep their stars, and Lee is one of them. I'd rather see them keep stars like Evans, and let nice, but replaceable players like Greer and Crowell go.
  8. 1. Bobby is past his prime. Bobby also has virtually no input on the day-to-day dealings with the team. Jimbo Fisher is running the offense now, and Boby helps with some overall gameplanning, but he's not the main offensive brain like he was in 90's. 2. When it comes to recruiting, i see you are one of the lemmings that is blinded by "star rankings" and ESPN's "class rankings." Color me less than impressed. FSU was pulling in top-5 classes early this decade and this got us nowhere. Along with the changes in offensive coaches last season, the scouting/recruiting on the offensive side got an overhaul. They dont simply work their way down the list starting with the 5-star prospects. The staff, especially Rick Trickett, has targeted specific players and goes after them. Trickett runs a zone blocking scheme on the OL, similar to denver and atlanta, meaning he's looking for a different type of OL than normal. 3. If you dont pay attention to the ACC very much they you have no credibility when toss out like blanket statements like, "Miami is the only team going in the right direction." Miami is roughly at the same point FSU is in their rebuilding. They didnt even make a bowl game last eyar, and have roughly the same upside as FSU, with 9 wins being their absolute max. Truth be told, miami will probably only win 7 this season.
  9. Christ. Get a clue. The ACC is in a real slump, but you not noticing the real fact that FSU is headed in the right direction is nothing more than simple FSU-UF rivalry hatred. You can be anti-FSU. I dont care. I'll freely admit that i am anti-UF, but i at least dont try to pass my UF hatred off as "real analysis." If you think Miami is the only ACC team headed in the right direction, its because your swelled SEC chest is blocking your vision.
  10. Agreed. I've been saying for a month now that Clemson will be their usual 8-4 self again this season. They're always a tease, and this season they were extremely overhyped. They either start 7-1 and finish 8-4, or stumble out of the gate 1-3 and end up 8-4, prolonging Tommy's inevitable departure. No one has done less with more talent than him. I've got a feeling that he'll be joining pops before too long...in the broadcast booth. As for the ACC, its all cyclical. The ACC is in a down turn right now, but we'll get out of it. FSU will be back on the national stage before too long, and i expect Miami to be back up again near the top as well in the not too distant future. VT got embarrassed, but thye'll be strong as usual. And in all seriousness, dont count out UNC. The tar heels have been a laughing stock team for a long time, but I think Butch Davis will do some real good things with that program. I dont see them contending for a national title anytime soon, but they will be surprisingly good before too long. It wouldnt shock me at all to see them go to a bowl this season.
  11. This has been common practice in the NFL with franchised players. But don't let those facts get in the way of your rant. For someone who despises DBs, you are/were in quite a hurry to give the farm to one.
  12. the only "singing" mickey is doing with Jason Peters is "mmrgfh hrrgfgh mfffhgh <gag> <slurp>"
  13. Lots of the computer models still have Hannah making landfall further south, closer to georgia and south carolina. http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/track...el.html#a_topad
  14. As someone said in the other thread, the Sunday 4pm game tends to be "free Dallas Cowboys sunday ticket" game. We dont have too much diversity here in Tally. We get TB/Atl on Fox and Jax/Mia on CBS. And then Dallas at 4pm.
  15. You overpay for a Jason Peters. You DO NOT overpay for Jabari Greer. While he's a nice little player, that all he is, a nice CB who plays decent as a starter, but is much better suited for nickel back. Someone next offseason will toss Jabari a boatload of cash to start, and we'll have Youboty/McKelvin to step in and start.
  16. Dont even bother, eball. You should know by now that no matter how bad we need a certain position, if the pick isnt along one of the lines, its a bad pick and our draft was horrendous. Like if we make the playoffs this season, it will be in spite of the whitner/mckelvin picks, and ONLY because of the 2007 draft.
  17. Sweet! Me and my girl did the same thing last weekend when Jim was in Tallahassee for Fay.

  19. stay safe CBB.
  20. Its a 3 hour difference. Normally their games start at 1pm pacific. Now they are playing at 1 eastern.
  21. Apparently, there are numerous people here that knew this exact fact. They just decided not to mention they knew it until 3-4 years later.
  22. i'm wiht the Murphy to IR crowd when Peters finally does report.
  23. Schobel skipped voluntary OTAs. As in, he didnt have to attend. Schobel, regardless of pro bowl appearances had averaged 10 sacks a season over the first 6 years of his career. Thats called production. He has shown solid production over his entire career, and was rewarded as such. If Jason Peters has another great season, he'll get his money next offseason. He just signed a new deal 2 years ago. He can wait while we lock up players like evans. And no matter how you spin it, he was told that there would be no negotiations if he wasnt in camp. And he wasn't in camp, therefore no negotiations. Its quite probable that the Bills were willing to renegotiate at the beginning of camp, but when he stupidly refused to report to camp after a while, they said "eff it, you're arent getting a deal now until next season." Peters needs to stop being a selfish prick and get his ass to one bills drive. Or fire his arrogant prick of an agent and get his ass to one bills drive.
  24. No. Translation: Tim Tebow is an absolute garbage passer, and is nothing more than the product of a gimmick offense. He can get by on his running ability in college, wheres he's bigger and faster than most. When he gets to the pros, everyone is going to be just as big and fast as him and he's going to get destroyed. He's got nowhere the elusiveness of a Vince Young.
  25. I feel the best chance for Spragan and/or James to stay on the roster would be to get their name changed to Anthony Thomas. Not only will jauron keep them, they'll probably start in week 1.
