Well, you have to understand the context of my remarks...I hate Jay Leno lol

I blame both NBC and Leno for this mess. When Leno took over the tonight show back in the early 90s, he lost to Letterman in the ratings for some time before growing his show into #1. When Leno cited Conan's poor ratings as one of the reasons why this move was being made, I thought it was douche-worthy. I blame NBC because they pegged Conan and Jay's successor, and they should have followed through on that for a helluva lot longer than 7 months.

Loved the show....I can't believe they did this to the guy...Conan is a class act...can't wait to see what he does next. The only way I'll watch an episode of the Leno Tonight Show is if Conan's a guest! F U Leno

Reminds me of a lit class I took once. We learned about how in medieval times they would chop the sacks off of males so that their voices remained high like that. Called the castrados or something.

If you exposed a kid back in the 70s to tv nowadays, it would be TOTALLY different for them than what they were used to watching. Im not making a value judgment either way, but Cincy's point about kids being insulated from a lot of stuff back then, compared to today, is valid.

Cincy is 100% correct. I grew up in the tail end of the 70's and into the 80s. Childhood in those days just wasn't like it is today. I know exactly what he means when he talks about children being insulated back then. That's awesome you had a happy childhood, cause every kid deserves that. But times were different back in the day.

Wow...well, Conan is obviously financially secure for life, but I really wanted to see him host the tonight show for the next 15 years....I hope he finds a good fit later this year. I look forward to watching whatever show he's on.

My understanding is that it was the 11pm news casts that were complaining due to a 25% drop in viewership once the 10pm Leno show started up. Wouldn't that possibly have a trickle down effect and potentially impact the audience for Conan's tonight show? I'm just not convinced that Conan's ratings would have been this poor if they hadn't tried that prime time Leno thing.

He used a buzz word that I look for..."expectations". He says he plans to hold the players, the staff, and himself accountable, and I like that. Now that Martyball isn't coming, I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I just hope he hires a DC who can really get the job done on that side of the ball.

I've always used the Larry Brown comparison with regard to Marty. Larry Brown was a journeyman coach in the NBA. Always left teams in better shape than they were in when he found them, but could never win a championship. Then, when he was in his 60s and nearing the end of the road, he goes to Detroit and wins it all. I could see the very same thing happening with martyball....on top of that, I like Marty and I respect him, and those are two luxuries we've always had as Bills fans.

I wish this had never been reported...this is the most disappointed I've been in a very long time. I wanted Marty above all the other big names that were speculated about. I can't believe that he was there for the taking and Ralph put the kabosh on it....unreal.

I always take crap for it, but I was a fan of TD...I always felt that he'd get it right sooner or later, and I loved how he was able to bring in players who, at the time, were the talk of TBD and looked like great additions. Unfortunately several of his key decisions didn't pan out, but as I said, I'm confident they would have sooner or later. I think it was a huge mistake letting him get away.
