  1. Forgot about that one....loved it Kathy Ireland never looked hotter The Replacements was pretty good, too.
  2. Good job, Mike I prefer a defensive minded coach, myself, but if Chan brings in a legit, innovative, AGGRESSIVE DC, I'll feel much better about the move. Defense still wins championships, and I want a strong defensive team to return to Buffalo.
  3. Football movies rule, man...those three you mentioned were each awesome....I also loved Friday Night Lights, Any Given Sunday, The Program (his avatar), and Facing the Giants.
  4. I'm not excited about it, but I'm willing to give the guy a chance. What choice do we have? Even if I wanted to become a fan of another team, that's just not possible. I love the Bills for better or worse....til death do us part. I've found myself pretty optimistic almost every offseason this past decade, only to get kicked in the nuts by the team time after time. Maybe this offseason there will be absolutely NOTHING to get excited about, but the team will actually play well and make the playoffs?
  5. (His avatar is from one of the most badass football movies ever.)
  6. Maybe you're not doing it right? Try it the other way.
  7. Honestly, I don't know the first thing about the difference between tubes and solid state, except the two most important things: The difference in the way they sound (generally), and where to find out enough information to make an educated decision on which tubes to purchase for a particular piece of gear. Beyond that, I'm clueless It was pretty cool, though, cause when I bought my first tube preamp a couple years ago, I got to shop for some NOS ("new old stock) tubes from an online vendor who had TONS of cool stuff. I bought some RCA tubes from the 50s....still in the original boxes and everything....very cool
  8. Usually it's all about the "purity of the recording"....they tend to focus on really well-recorded material, and then have as little in the signal path as possible. That's why with most audiophile rigs, you'll have a huge disparity in terms of how different recordings sound. In the car, everything sounds about the same quality. Go listen to an expensive rig and you'll hear some things sound AMAZING, and other discs will be very in your face and unlistenable. To me, the best of both worlds is using tubed gear instead of solid state. I get all the clarity and a true representation of the recording quality, but with a warmth and richness that solid state gear can't match. It helps digital sources to become a bit more like analog, for me...kind of like listening to vinyl instead of digital. You can find a lot of great tubed gear for relatively cheap money these days...it's great
  9. Dude, of course the moustache would make a difference....it goes without saying.
  10. My main problem with basketball is that FOULING is a legit strategy. I think having the last few minutes of a close game be nothing more than a series of fouls followed by free throws, over and over and over again, to be mind numbing. I tend to ignore basketball until the playoffs start, then I watch a good portion of the games. I like the game, I just hate this particular aspect of it.
  11. Most audiophiles don't even use tone controls, lol....although that's starting to come back into play a little.
  12. Dang, now I have to try that lol BTW, your story reminded me of a film called "The Gravedancers". It's kind of a fun, creepy movie....check it out sometime!
  13. I expect you pro-soccer people to be participating in our World Cup 2010 thread in a few months!!!
  14. I hear ya, bro....I really thought this hire was going to get me fired up for the future, but now I'm not so sure. I'm willing to give the guy a chance, but the move itself does nothing to excite me.
  15. He's a much better college coach, but that triple option offense would be crap in the NFL
  16. I definitely would have a hard time getting excited about Chan Gailey....I'm still holding out hope for Marty ball
  17. Sloth!! You posted!!! Welcome back, my friend I don't have a concrete opinion on ghosts either way, but I definitely enjoy seeing "evidence"...sometimes it's absurd, but other times it seems intelligent and credible....I dunno, I just try and have fun with it. (Plodders rule!)
  18. I'm encouraged by the number of American players who are garnering interest from the European clubs. The more home grown players we can get into the big time, the better. We have a pretty good U-20 team, and I think the more they see American players making good money in Europe, the more attractive the game will become for them. As for the NFL, as long as it doesn't FEEL like there are only 11 mins of actual play, I'm cool....and it doesn't feel that way at all. Baseball, on the other hand...
  19. This is exactly what I expected when we had our own "disciple" of the 46 defense....but from what I remember, Greggo could never get the players to run it
  20. Honestly, I pay attention to a girl's upbringing now more than I ever did before. I don't come off as a traditional type person, but when it comes to values, and particularly marriage, I'm very traditional. I know I would never cheat on a girlfriend, let alone my wife. I won't get seriously involved with another girl unless I can say the same about her. I certainly wouldn't expect my wife to be going out alone with a guy friend or anything like that, but if she had well-established friendships in place before we met, I don't think it would be a huge deal to me. I can definitely feel for you with regard to your wife being deployed...that can't be an easy thing for either of you...can't imagine you would be marrying her if you weren't confident in how she feels about you, though, so there's a lot to be said for that. I think I'd tend to believe that her fellow soldiers would be more concerned about keeping her safe than they would be trying to get in her pants, though. I hope the year goes by quickly for both of you
  21. That issue came up in my marriage, and it was one of the topics of our counseling sessions when we separated. I work with mostly women, and I also have some long term female friends from back when I was in high school. Well, I thought for sure that the counselor was going to be supportive of platonic friends of the opposite sex, but she wasn't at all. She said that married couples should NOT have friends of the opposite sex unless it's another couple, or unless both the husband and wife are involved with the friend together. I remember the counselor looking me dead in the eye and asking, "what do your female friends do for you that your wife cannot?" It put me in a very uncomfortable position, cause there was absolutely no risk of me ever cheating on my wife, and certainly not with those few female friends I was closest to. I was feeling as if I all of a sudden just had to bail on and break off any and all contact with people I cared deeply about. I can understand the idea of not making NEW friends of the opposite sex when you get married, but having to just tell your old friends you can't ever speak to them again? That's just not cool with me. What I keep coming back to is this: Either you can trust the girl or you can't. Simple as that. If you don't have trust, you don't have anything...and I won't be in a realtionship like that again.
  22. Dang, those two hours went by too fast! Wasn't too keen on FPJ being in this season, but so far he's got the Keanu Reeves action hero look to him....could be worse. Love that Chloe is being featured! Love the assassination plot...love that the beautiful and sexy Katie Sackhoff is on the show... ...can't wait til tomorrow night!! "Shrimp on a stick....shrimp gumbo...shrimp sandwich...shrimp scampi...shrimp dumplings..." (Couldn't resist!)
