Blast from the past: Review of the first CD player - circa 1983

Dude, if you want a great preamp, check out Dr. P at Mapletree Audio Design. He's a retired engineering professor who runs an audio shop out of his home office, and his stuff is great! -
Frogger: You're ahead of me, cause I still haven't allowed myself to get into a relationship since my marriage ended a while back. It's not an easy thing to establish and maintain trust in a relationship these days. I tell you what, though, I'm 100% with Pete on this one...if I can't trust the girl, she's gone. I will NOT live my life like that ever again. I'm not going to perpetually second guess my girlfriend, always being fixated on whether she's being true to me or not. On the flip side, while I can certainly understand why you have insecurity issues due to your past experience, this girl doesn't deserve to be affected by them. She deserves a fair shot, so make sure you're seeing things objectively as best as you can. Yeah, breaking up sucks...it hurts like hell, and we've ALL been there, bro. But what Pete said about single is something you need to be reminded of over and over. Being a single male has a LOT of benefits, and it can be a great life if you make it that way. We don't NEED to be in relationships, so you should take your time to find the one where you are able to trust her without hesitation, and you don't have to sit there always wondering what she's doing. You never want to believe it or even think about it when you're in the relationship, but that doesn't change the fact that there really are a LOT of girls out there, and at least a few of them can be trusted Some people on here may give you crap about bringing this up on a message board, but don't even worry about it....your Bills brothers are here for you, man! PS. Don't sit around the house tonight....get out, call some bros, watch some football, drink some beer, and don't even worry about your woman.

Cool....it's definitely one of the most interesting and best produced series' I've ever seen....I loved every minute. David Schwimmer actually impressed me, too, cause I usually find that guy pretty lame. I won't give anything away, but it was one of the last few episodes that really hit me hard emotionally. Really amazing stuff...

I've been waiting to see this film since I first read about it in the middle part of last year. It's written and directed by the same guy who wrote "The Wrestler". It didn't get a lot of press, but I know there are a lot of other TBD'ers like me who love sports themed films....particularly one that involves the NFL and the experience of the fan. It just came out on DVD, but the cool thing is that it's a new release that is also available via Netflix streaming. They don't often have newer ones available instantly, but this one is. I'm going to check it out this weekend, so if any of you guys do, please chime in with your non-spoiler reviews. Big Fan

I can't believe they didn't put a pic in that article I wanted to see what it looked like! -
Hannity is a douche just like Maher
-
Exactly.
-
LOL, so did I
-
Maher is an arrogant prick who advocates socialism openly....not my idea of entertainment.

SAme here, man....Spidey 2 really surprised me. I enjoyed the struggle between Peter Parker and the "burden" of being Spider Man...very cool stuff. Thought Spidey 3 was awful. I agree on the time frame thing....people who love this franchise will have expectations of the next film, which they thought was going to have their favorite actors back...they made this much more difficult for themselves than they had to, but I guess we'll see if the gamble pays off. Maybe they already have a goldmine of a script in their possession, who knows. -
wow, that must be a very cool set of memories for you, man...good stuff

I definitely respect the way that Leno preserves the art of stand-up comedy, cause I'm a huge fan of that form of entertainment, too. But like others have said, Leno just isn't all that funny. I can't remember a single time when I tuned into the Leno Tonight Show because of Leno. I don't often watch it anyway, but there are plenty of times when I check the line-up for the show. With Conan it's different....I've been a fan of his since his very first show in 1993 and I'll watch his show without having any idea who his guests are. I love humor that can have elements of both wit and childishness, and he's a master of that. Anyway, I hate that NBC has completely BOTCHED this transition. Conan deserved a chance to build his own legacy with the Tonight Show, not have the carpet pulled out from under him less than a year into his reign. I hope Conan finds a way out of NBC and can go to a medium (cable?) where he can be fully appreciated. I know not everyone likes Conan, but I do, and there are many others who feel the same....tv without him would not be the same!

I remember Raimi was upset because he felt some of the creative control was taken from him for the last Spidey film....after I heard that I felt better about being a fan of his, cause I really didn't care for Spidey 3. That being said, this looks like one of the dumbest decisions ever if Raimi was interested, yet the studio pulled the same type of crap again this time (or worse). You have three of the top 18 highest grossing films EVER, and you decide to pull the plug? I'm all in favor of a reboot if it's good, but this decision is a huge surprise to me...I know superhero films are huge nowadays, especially spider man, but I don't think I'd be putting the director between a rock and a hard place when it comes to making another film in my bread and butter franchise. If Raimi was out regardless, then that's one thing....but I get the impression he wanted to stay on board for a 4th. -
I tell you what's really been pissing ME off lately, and that's relish! I say we ban it!

That's awesome, man....to me, that's the best thing about the internet...there are all sorts of very smart people making very good audio gear from their work benches. My DAC is from a company called Tube Audio Design, which is basically a guy working out of his basement, but the stuff he builds is top notch. My preamp is a great little tubed piece from a retired engineering professor....his company is called Mapletree Audio Design. With all the access to online forums and consumer feedback, we're able to review a lot of these products and many of them really become substantial enterprises. I love finding small business gems!

have you called Stereo Advantage and asked about their return policy?

Martyball is still my #1 choice....not sure how I feel about Brian Schottenheimer yet, but I'd love having Marty in town.

If his kids were young and dependent, and this was a career and not just a "job", I'd totally agree with you. I think sometimes you just get to the point in life where you have to say, "F-it". In fact, waking up the next day and realizing you have to pound the pavement to find something new can be a real kick in the arse and serve as a source of motivation. Nobody was encouraging him to quit his job, he felt the need to do it himself. Therefore, I support him fully and wish him all the best in completing his venting session tonight, and then spending tomorrow seeing what life has in store for him next in terms of employment. Besides, chances are if he really wanted his job back, he could sit down with the owner and explain the circumstances...obviously tipster's been through it the past few days.

So wait....why is your wife slow again? Seriously, sorry you're going through all that drama, man...who knows, walking out on a job you hate may end up being the best thing for you. Hang in there, my Bills Brotha!
