  1. Agreed. I was confused and disappointed when we released him and replaced him with McIntyre. Barnes seemed like a solid fullback and a high character guy. Not really sure why we got rid of him in the first place, although if I remember correctly he had gotten injured during the Chargers game no? Not like it matters, there really isn't much need for a fullback on the roster. Both Barnes and McIntyre have been utilized almost exclusively for special teams duties.
  2. lolwut? I'd take a QB that can throw for 2500 yards and run for 1,000 more, an overall threat to score running or passing on every down over JP Loss-man every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Can you honestly say that Vick would be a worse option than anyone in our current stable of QBs?
  3. Oronde Gadsden is pretty much just remembered for that one crazy one-handed diving catch he had. Bill Gramatica for tearing his ACL celebrating a short FG. Woodrow Dantzler is only known for one insane return, maybe the most exciting kick return I've ever seen. Morgan Spurlock is also known for one kick return, since it was a milestone one. I was going to say Mark Ingram for being on the receiving end of Marino's famous fake spike play against the Jets, but he's made a name for himself for other unfortunate reasons since football...
  4. Team weaknesses: Conservative playcalling on both sides of the ball, zero pass rush, one Richard Manual Jauron, an incomplete linebacking corps, a brand new inexperienced O-line, lack of overall playmakers (fingers crossed on TO), an injury proned QB that looks to be turning the corner one game and then suffers endless brain farts the next. A clueless, senile cheapskate of an owner that simply has no ability to hire a successful coach or GM, horrible uniforms (WTF haven't we switched to the throwbacks full time???), losing primetime games in legendary fashion year-after-year............. !!
  5. This is a tricky one to explain because I don't want to mention really great players that have an amazing play in their careers people can always point to. I'm looking more for guys that when you hear their name, that play, that moment stands out above anything else they did. It'll probably be easier to just list my examples. Lots of postseason for obvious reasons. David Tyree - catching the ball with his helmet in SB 42 Scott Norwood - his miss in SB 25 Jumbo Elliott - his TD catch from Vinny to tie the Dolphins in the Monday Night Miracle Dwight Clark - "The Catch" against Dallas Nick Harper - returning Bettis' fumble and being tackled by Ben Garo Yepremain - the worst pass ever attempted in a SB vs. Washington Mathias Kiwanuka - his lack of a sack against Vince Young Bert Emanuel - his catch/no catch against the Rams that prompted a rule change Earnest Byner - "The Fumble" Freddie Mitchell - 4th and 26 Mike Jones - tackle on Dyson* ("one yard short") Joe Pisarcik and Herm Edwards - Miracle at the Meadowlands Clarence Davis - "Sea of Hands" Frenchy Fuqua - his role in the Immaculate Reception *I would have said Dyson too on that play, but he was the one that returned the Music City Miracle a few weeks before that. There are two more I have in mind, but I'll wait and see if someone else posts them.
  6. The problem wasn't that JP Losman was bad, the problem was that he just wasn't good.
  7. I have no problem with the suspension. Its about what I expected and I think its fair. Im also sure it has other conditions as well. So now the question is who will pick him up. And remember it only takes one. One owner to okay it, one injury, one garbage QB. It takes just one guys. And I think just before training camp one team and probably a couple of more will get interested in Mike Vick. And honestly would have been the benefit of any team saying they wanted Mike Vick before he was reinstated? There was no pressure to say so and why risk public backlash. Even if I am interested in Mike Vick I don't say so because there is no advantage I would have gained by saying so. Once he's officially reinstated teams will no longer have that cover to hide behind. I think we will see about 3 teams showing real interest in Mike Vick. My guesses... San Francisco 49ers Miami Dolphins Carolina Panthers Denver Broncos Seattle Seahawks Also, put Minnesota at the top of that list if Brett Favre decides against returning. Vick and Peterson would be deadly...
  8. Wood is actually most likely going to be our LG. Levitre, McKinney, and others will be battling it out for RG. Butler will be shifting to RT, while Walker shifts to LT, and like you said Hangartner will be manning the C position. As far as Edwards is concerned, he's one more year into the system, and is going to be allowed to really open things up. Now he's got the weapons to succeed and can build upon the foundation he's established. He wasn't outstanding, but he was efficient last season (6th in Comp %). TO does wonders for this offense. Lee has put up solid numbers since coming into the league, yet he hasn't had much on the other side of the field to compliment him. Now we have a proven guy opposite him who not only will take the pressure off of him, but will be a serious threat himself. We're throwing Reed back where he's best suited. I love him, but he's not a #2. He'll be an important peice to this offense however as he's one of Trent's go to guys, especially on 3rd down. I'm excited about the prospects of this season, and I believe whole heartedly that Trent will grow tremendously this season.
  9. I'm curious why you think New England would bother? After all, they've already got a clear starter, a backup QB they love (Kevin O'Connell), and, if they really want to go in that direction, a mediocre passer who can run with the ball (Julian Edelman).
  10. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case being involving the NFL's rights under its antitrust exemption. Basically, the NFL wants the Supreme Court to affirm its rights to control its interests as a single entity, not as 32 separate entities. This bodes to be very interesting. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-s...p&type=lgns Also, for your reading pleasure, here is a brief overview of the Sherman Antitrust Act to which the NFL received an Exemption in 1961: Link
  11. This ones a classic: And this is the best kick return ever most likely will only work in HS though:
  12. You guys are stuck in your traditional ways.... I love this. Brilliant move, imo. Thats makes the draft even more marketable. Also it helps out teams because teams are able to reset their draft boards and draft smarter. I guarantee you everyone involved in the NFL loves this. Don't you guys ever get tired sitting around watching the draft all day? Sure its exciting, but at the same time its lengthy. The 1st round will be super exciting especially since its in primetime. At the end of the night the teams will regroup and target their now "2nd day prospects". The 2nd and 3rd round will be just as exciting as the 1st round since teams will have an improved draft board. 4th-7th round will be just like it is on Sunday except with more viewers... I really don't understand you guys' beef with this new format. I think its perfect. I've always felt that the 1st round should have its own day and be in primetime. You guys will really enjoy this new way, just watch...
  13. Yeah and he was removed from the league for two years. I think that four games is completely reasonable. I don't find it ridiculous at all and when people like Leonard Little kill somebody, they only get 8 games of suspension (not to mention people like Ray Lewis who get in no trouble even though they were clearly involved in murder). I'm glad Vick's back in the league. He served his time and four more games after two years is completely reasonable
  14. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...n-for-winfield/ Five years, 36 million at age 32...not a bad haul for Winfield. I think it's a bit much, but the Vikes have had a shoddy Pass D for awhile, and Winfield has been decent despite that.
  15. A while back I posted a topic about how fit an NFL QB really has to be, in regards to my younger brother at Auburn. Now my question is this, generally outside of linemen, is it better to have a large body mass or more muscle? Now here's the thing, a lot of big guys have a lot of muscle mass, but they also generally have a body fat percentage of 15% or more. Then there's guys who are 5"11 and 175lb but have a body fat percentage around 8%, which is my younger brother. Which is better? I find to be a receiver it's better to not be as buff because you can run faster and have better cardio with less weight and body fat, but he wants to be a QB.
  16. What is your favorite trick play? Can be college or professional football i guess. Mine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhFnneoT3Fo...feature=related
  17. Basically the 4 games would be in addition to the 2 years he has already been suspended. So a 2 and a 1/4 year suspension for gambling, dogfighting, and bringing disgrace to the NFL and the Atlanta Falcons in particular? That's fair.
