  1. Since thus far, it appears you don't have a clue what you're talking about, let me try to help you out. What got the Patriots into cap problems that year was that they got Ted Washington late in the pre-season. This was what created the problem. Belichick saw an opportunity to improve the team and he went for it. Milloy didn't want to take a pay cut (and I have no animosity with him over that), so the Patriot's exercised their right to cut him. Since the Patriots did win the superbowl last year, it appears the Belichick didn't handle things that badly for the Pats. Only Lawyer Milloy can say if his choice was the right one for him.
  2. AKC, Have you read Patriot Reign by Michael Holly????
  3. Apparently you did not read or chose to ignore that the field is protected from freezing with heating elements underneath. So your field will be hard, favoring the Pats comment is foolish. P.S. Don't worry, Belichick thinks of everything. I'm sure there are plans already in the works.
  4. Perhaps you can provide links to some of those "objective outsiders"?
  5. I think one of Belichick's strengths has been his lack of sentimentality with respect to his players. This has been a key to his success in the salary-cap era. It is definitely in contrast to the Bill Parcells/Red Auerbach kind of thing, but it's hard to pretend your players are part of some kind of family if you might have to cut them when they get too expensive. I think that's one of the reasons Troy Brown has been playing so much defense, to justify his salary.
  6. You obviously have no clue what you're about. Milloy was cut for salary cap purposes and the Pats went on to win 15 in a row (including two against the Dolts) and win the Super Bowl. Law refused to help the Pats get salary cap relief, got injured and the Pats still are 14-2. I haven't heard a single rumor about Seymour not wanting to play. You're confusing him with the Jet's John Abraham. That would be completely out of character for Seymour. Light took less money to stay. Bruschi did the same. Dillon agreed to a pay cut to play here. Anyone who's playing strictly for a contract is not welcome here. They're more than welcome in Indy however. Before you throw crap against the wasll, you should probably do some homework.
  7. Bill Belichick to Play Cornerback Against the Colts Charged with the task of developing yet another game plan to shut down Peyton Manning and the explosive Indianapolis offense – but this time with a defensive corps racked by injury – Patriots head coach and reputed football genius Bill Belichick has decided to start himself at cornerback in Sunday’s divisional playoff game. “I can come up with a game plan to defeat anyone – I’m that good and everybody knows it, especially Peyton Manning,” said Belichick. “But I at least need remotely competent players on the field who can execute what I draw up. With both our starting cornerbacks out, as well as Richard Seymour, we don’t have that. Heck, we’re so depleted we’ve had a freaking wide receiver playing DB for months. Manning will have a field day with that group, regardless of the ingenious game plan I throw at him. That’s why I’m shedding the hoodie this week and putting on the jersey.” Belichick, 52 years old and 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, hasn’t played football since 1974 when he was a center and tight end at tiny Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. “So what that I’m 52 years old and have never played cornerback in my life,” said Belichick. “No one knows the Xs and Os and fundamentals of the game like I do. I guarantee you I’ll be in the right place at the right time. Age and size don’t matter when you know the game like I do. I know how to play the game of football better than anyone ever.” Belichick also pointed out that he was a lacrosse co-captain at Wesleyan. “Sure, it’s been 30 years, but lacrosse teaches positioning and lateral quickness, two things that will make for a very successful debut at a defensive back,” he said. Belichick’s game plan for Sunday will feature heavy doses of Corey Dillon on offense to control the clock and keep Manning and the Colts’ offense off the field. Then he’ll unleash himself on defense when Indianapolis has the ball. “Peyton Manning has never beaten me and I don’t expect to let it happen now,” said Belichick. “On paper, he should handle our secondary fairly easily, regardless of the scheme I put in, but he hasn’t had to deal with the likes of me in the secondary yet. Soon I’ll be known as a genius both on the sidelines and on the field.” sportspickle

  10. I thought I'd start this conversation here since there are so many random posts out there in which people are projecting which players will make the final 53 man roster. Guys with "POTENTIAL" generally do not make the final roster. Guys with "POTENTIAL" are lucky to find themselves on the practice squad. Guys with "POTENTIAL" generally do not displace vets unless the guy with "POTENTIAL" has completely outplayed the vet and shown himself to be invaluable during mini-camp and the preseason. Every player who makes the final roster is going to be expected to contribute in some way or fashion - if it's not with the first team, they better be able to do something on special teams. An exception to this general rule would be someone like Losman - a first round draft pick they are grooming to be the quarterback of the future, who could, however, step in with the first team and contribute if there was a need. There is no way that an NFL team would pay a guy with "POTENTIAL" the league minimum (for rookies, it's $200k+) to sit on the bench and do absolutely nothing during the game. The only players you might see on an active roster who wouldn't necessarily be expected to contribute right away are draft picks (Losman, Sape last year, etc.) - the team already has a vested interest in these players by paying them signing bonuses and using a draft pick on them. This is definitely not the case for undrafted rookie free agents - they are a lot more likely to find themselves on the practice squad initially or booted all together regardless of their potential. So, for those who think Jason Peters' POTENTIAL is going to be enough in and of itself to earn him one of three TE spots on the active roster, it just does not happen that way. Even someone like Luke Lawton has clearly shown more during the preseason and camp and still, all we hear about him is that he'll probably make the practice squad. Sure, having a TE the size of Peters is exciting. No one is denying that Peters' sheer size and alleged speed present some unique opportunities for a team - but Peters physical attributes and talent will not be enough for him to make the final roster (unless we keep 4 TEs) because he just has not been able to pick up the offense during camp. Because he doesn't have the mental part of the game down, his size on the field could in fact become more of a liability than an attribute - a big guy his size in the wrong place at the wrong time could cause some serious injuries to our own players! So please, enough with this "POTENTIAL" thing already. "POTENTIAL" does not beat out experience and performance in determining who will make the 53 man roster.
  11. I'm soo sick and tired of the people here that underestimate EVERYBODY that we're playing. The Jaguars, Raiders, Jets...the list goes on and on and on. I support the Bills as much as anybody in here, but u guys are the idiots that get ALL your hopes up before the season starts and when they fall below ur expectations, ur the ones that are the first to bash Drew, or bash the Coaching staff, or bash somethin and come up with dumb excuses. Stop underestimating and think realistically. We're a GOOD team right now, but i don't know if we're an AFC Championship team as of now. Only time will tell. As of right now i think we're an early wild card team probably at best. Theres still a lot of things to get done before the season starts.
  12. ok well schobel and williams are up i would sign schobel release williams "hes too old" and sign greg ellis or john abarham, then try to find a younger DT. what would u do?
  13. And if McNally, who has certainly proved himself in this league as one fine offensive line coach, believes it may ultimately serve the team best, then why not give it a try? Does McNally have control over the offensive line or does someone else?
