  1. His rookie season he unseated Losman as the starter about halfway through the year, no? This is a make or break year for Trent and our current core because if we fail to make the playoffs again, Jauron and his coaching staff will most certainly be fired. With a new coach comes a new philosophy, and as seen in Denver, Kansas City, Miami, Atlanta, etc. often times there are various roster shakeups, and seeing as quarterback is the most critical position on the team, I think there is a very good chance Trent gets the boot if a new coach/GM is hired. If McDaniels was looking at options to replace Cutler (a Pro Bowl talent and rising star who has put up much gaudier numbers than Edwards) when he took over, what makes you think a new coach wouldn't come in and decide Trent Edwards isn't the answer?
  2. As said hundreds of times already, 2009 is a make or break year for Trent, our current coaching staff, and this core of players. If we fail to make the playoffs again this franchise will make drastic changes next offseason. I look for Trent to answer the call and have a breakout season with a full year of starting experience under his belt, the acquisition of Owens and Rhodes, the no-huddle offense, more Lynch, Jackson, Evans, Steve Johnson, etc. My main concern with Trent is that he stays healthy. If he does, this is a dangerous team that should make a run for a wildcard spot.
  3. JEEEE-SUS!!! North America is going to be in ruins when that monster T.O. is done with it!!!!1!
  4. I would think the injury of a solid backup in DiGiorgio would put more pressure on the FO to find a veteran linebacker. Seeing how they brought in numerous free agents at the beginning of the offseason, they must've seen it as a need already. I would imagine even more so at this point. Here's holding out hope for a Brooks/Burgess/Wilhelm signing in the near future.
  5. I voted yes. Read the other Vick thread on this board for my thoughts on the subject. "No...Drama from PITA" ... I resent that.
  6. LOL this is unreal. I would argue that he has somehow grown in popularity since being released by the Cowboys.
  7. I'm really having a hard time believing so many people are opposed to bringing this guy into TC and having him compete against our mediocre stable of QBs. Worst case scenario: he sucks. So cut him, problem solved. I can't fathom him being worse than !@#$ing Gibran Hamdan or Ryan Fitzpatrick (Kelly Holcomb 2.0), even two years removed from playing a down in the NFL. Would it give us even more exposure? Obviously yes. Could that be a distraction? It could be. You could also view it as taking pressure off of some of the other guys (Trent, offensive line, defensive line) as some people have viewed T.O. dominating the limelight. Vick is a very polarizing player, even moreso than Owens, and opinions are going to be split down the line no matter how much one side tries to argue their point. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, it would be a good move to at least give this freakish athlete the opportunity to come in and compete for a spot on our QB depth chart, which is less than stellar to say the least.
  8. I think Losman made the right decision. Instead of holding a clipboard on an NFL sideline all year, he took the road less traveled and opted for immediate playing time to prove that he can be an effective pro quarterback. In the NFL, he would just toil in obscurity as a second or third string QB, whereas now he is the marquee player in a brand new league. Under the tutelage of a seasoned offensive minded coach in Fassel, in a league that has a dearth of quality talent, JP could really shine. If he lights it up in the UFL, a team with a need at quarterback or an injury to their starter may be obliged to sign him. Did it hurt Kurt Warner or Jake Delhomme to star in the Arena League? Losman is still young enough to turn his career around. I like this move on his part.
  9. I don't think T.O. himself will be to blame if the team isn't any better at the four game mark. I expect Owens to be the most productive player on our offense, especially if the first few days of TC are any indication, as he and Evans have been on the receiving end of about 80-90% of Trent's throws. I think if we really are a disappointment early in the season, it will be in spite of Owens' productivity, not because of it. He will be a bright spot on an underachieving team, which may actually cause fans to fall in love with him even more.

  11. Is he worse than Ryan Fitzpatrick? Worse than the Chroise?
  12. The OP said that the Bills "have never been on their (ESPN) website in 7 different places". Common sense says no. There was no ESPN NFL page when the Bills were losing four consecutive Super Bowls, or when Bennett was brought to Buffalo. Flutie, although a big story, was not the celebrity that Owens is, and his coming to Buffalo was not as out-of-left-field as Owens. And the Bills certainly did not get as much exposure for choking in a miraculous playoff game as they have for signing the NFL's most recognizable player.
  13. Would it hurt to sign him to a one year deal and have him compete with our mediocre backups and give Trent some competition in training camp? As stated before ad nauseum, we could even instill a few Wildcat formations where Vick lines up in the backfield or takes a direct snap, much like how Miami plans on incorporating Pat White into their offense. Say what you want about Vick's abilities as a pure pocket passer, but the guy was one of the best overall athletes and homerun threats in NFL history. He ran for 1,000 yards and passed for 2,500 in the same season, for Christ's sake. Maybe Bobby April could find a way to utilize his gamebreaking ability on our top-ranked special teams unit. Who knows? Could it really hurt to try?
  14. I guess that makes one of us. I'd rather win a Super Bowl with a team full of thugs than miss the playoffs every year with a team full of choir boys.
  15. Yes, this time of year always goes by unnecessarily slow for me.
  16. Vick has had other legal/character problems aside from the dog fighting accusations. There was the time he was arrested for having a bong on him at an airport. The Ron Mexico incident where he gave herpes to some chick and lied about, flicking off fans, etc. However, I would be willing to bypass said incidents if he improves our football team. I also agree with all of your other points.
  17. I never said go after everyone ala the Raiders. However, if we have a need at a position and there is a free agent available who would fill that need, I say go after him. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Vick to back-up Trent or even compete for the starting job. Competition brings out the best in players, so I'm sure Trent wouldn't be any worse off. I personally would rather have a homerun threat like Vick step in than Ryan Fitzpatrick (Kelly Holcomb version 2.0) should Trent go down, which he probably will at some point this season.
  18. Isn't that common sense? Can you think of another time that the Bills were ever this big of a focal point on ESPN? Or any team in recent memory, aside from maybe the Cowboys last year or the Pats the year before.
  19. I completely agree. I wasn't arguing with you about the fact that Brooks would seemingly be a perfect fit here. I'm just saying that since we've made no effort to pursue him thus far (shockingly to some) I don't see why they would all of a sudden gain interest in him. They seem surprisingly content with Keith Ellison starting opposite Kawika and Poz. I guess we'll see now won't we...
  20. I personally don't give a shi t what kind of human being a player is; if he's good and helps our team be successful I'll take him. What has going after "character guys" done to make the Bills relevant this past decade?
  21. If we haven't contacted him by now, is there any reason to believe we will in the near future?
  22. Poz looks fuggin gigantic no homo
