  1. He was just signaling the first down.
  2. He throws a very well-spoken and articulate spiral... ?
  3. This is a Greg Roman special with the playclock running down to 1 on every snap.
  4. Their overall run defense fell off a cliff this year. Not sure why given their front seven - definitely not a good look for him, but he should be able to coach up the line.
  5. You're spot on here. I asked elsewhere, "What is our identity on offense?" and got zero responses. Daboll talks about being "multiple" which seems to mean, equally bad at everything, not great at anything. Allen will be better for surviving all of this, but I suspect his talent won't truly shine until he gets to work with a better, sounder OC and a simplified approach.
  6. Thank you for this. The poor vs. rich argument, for years, has masked the REAL redistribution of wealth from young to old that has been going on for decades. This country chose pensions over progress in the 60s and 70s and we're still reeling from it.
  7. I can't believe that's even debatable.
  8. Not the least bit offended, just surprised by how out of touch the comment was.
  9. And again - if you're moving up and down the draft board to match the value, it's fine to draft for need - where you run into trouble drafting for need is when you pass up value where you're picking, i.e., where you take a need position that you could've gotten later.
  10. More likely they release Campbell and he'd be a phenomenal add for us - honestly prefer him (as a player and for the price) than Yannick.
  11. Agreed - but what’s clear is that THEY WERE NOT COACHING FOR A FIELD GOAL.
  12. The play sequence came up in McD’s pressure and he made a frustrated face and admitted they were playing for the touchdown not the field goal and said “we’d like to have those calls back.” Something went wrong there - not sure if Daboll called the wrong play (including the check), the wrong personnel were on the field, or Allen screwed up - but it was clear they were not aiming for the field goal. Something got botched but the strategy was the correct one from a coaching standpoint if McD is to be believed - and everything leading up to that play is consistent with the idea that they were trying to score a passing touchdown.
  13. Beane was referring to the remake of the offense last offseason as a “rebuild” IIRC. He took ownership for bungling the offense in 2018 and acknowledged the need to rebuild the offensive line and WR group.
  14. The thing is Dave, Murphy did that all year - he was selling out the run and chasing sacks all year. He repeatedly lost contain. Shaq isn’t as explosive off the snap but at least he sets the edge and for whatever reason, Shaq is super explosive when he gets near the ball carrier - he’s a slow starter and fast finisher. I’m not saying it’s either/or necessarily. But Murphy is a liability IMO. The risks he takes don’t justify the upside IMO.
  15. How does any of that ensure that we land Josh McCown?
  16. That's kind of an odd move if he was well thought-of at OBD. Also, he looks like a police sketch...
  17. I don't necessarily want to get rid of him. I just want him to set the edge ONCE. He drove me nuts this year with the peeking inside.
  18. I don’t necessarily want to cut him but he never once kept his contain this season and that’s likely because he was pressing and gambling because he knows his explosiveness is sapped from the injuries.
  19. Patterson is a good comp - except from what I've seen he has legit ball-tracking skills. Watching clips yesterday I thought he looked like a combination of Patterson and Steve Smith. He goes and gets it. I could be wrong but he doesn't look too raw to me.
  20. Actually Frank "Skates" Gore wins that award this year. Yes, I suppose McK might have fallen down during his 70 yard nearly-untouched sprint toward the end zone... I mean, it was basically set up as a punt return with one guy to beat... but sure, he might've fallen down.
  21. Agreed. That PC was an A+ performance by both of them. Beane admitted he screwed up not giving Allen a better line and weapons in 2018 - he basically said that outright. The "rebuild" he referred to was this past offseason's attempt to right those wrongs. Gotta give him credit for owning that, and he recognizes that Allen "doing too much" is a direct consequence of not giving him enough playmakers he can trust. That PC was night and day what we saw in years past. Literally 180 degrees away from Whaley's epic "I'm not privy to that" faceplant. Today was a good look for OBD. (BTW Sullivan's tweet shows a stunning lack of self-awareness or judgment. It's one thing to think that to yourself - but to tweet it out? What an all-time ass.)
  22. Weird - they just requested permission to interview Garrett (who is technically under contract) - did they panic when Ruhle got scooped up?
  23. There's that McKenzie play I've been ranting about - would've taken it to the house, most likely, but Josh throws it into the dirt. Frustrating.
