I believe that the point here, Redman, is simply that a majority of games this season have not been played in 40 mph winds on a 35 degree day. In fact, to this date, none of the games have been played in this environment, yet the team is still bad. This lends itself to the argument that OP's original points are universal. Not inaccurate in any way... just lacking specific insight to our situation. As a wise poster once said "think before you post"

OK... lets have it, what's everyone eating for BUFFALO GAMENIGHT? We got Sabres/Habs We got Bills/Jets The only question is, what are partaking in for refreshment? Ye Ole' is having hot dogs, topped with diced fresh peaches, chopped scallions, and a delectable fruit chutney.

Disagree on 2 points: A. The win is not meaningless when we're still IN THE HUNT, boyeeeeee! B. History is scattered with teams who ride late season momentum into the next year 1. Case study #1: Balto Ravens- The year is 1999... and Quoth the Raven: Forevermore sits at 4-7 just as our current day B-LO Bills... now they could have 'opted' for the higher draft pick, but nay... nay... they marched forward and barnstormed the league finishing the season on a 4-1 run to finish up 8-8, and everyone was like 'watch out for Balto in the Y2K... watch out for them. Sho' Nuff they emerged victorious upon the golden arm of Trent Dilfer and won it all the following year. As they sat at 4-7 they could've said "lets lose out and get a choice pick..." but in the true fashion of the game, they used those games as a launching pad to change the culture from 4-7 to Superbowl Champs. 2. Case study #2: Stay Tuned to Ye Ole's Thursday HOOTINANNY, and Ye Knowledge will continue to flow -

It all starts tonight Zubaz... if the Ryan Fitzpatrick Experience propelled by Perry "Fossil" Fewell uncorks the whoop-azz tonight in PRIME TIME... the league will have to take heed of the mighty team hailing from Western New York! From 3-7 to Division Champs! Hosting a playoff game! Just imagine the euphoria! It'd be FANDAMONIUM! -

Zubaz... just think man... if Miami runs Wildcat all over New England on Sunday, and recent history says they will... we could play New England at the Ralph to pull within 1 game of the division lead... AND take the tiebreaker from New England, by handing them a 3-3 record in division. A win against the Jets tonight and it could be on like Donkey Kong! -
Less than 10 hours until Buffalo Bills football!!!! The division and the season are hanging in the balance! Thursday Nighter... whoooooot whoooooot! Who ya with?

The Saints just flat out disected Belichik tonight. Ole' Bill was flat out perplexed all night. That was one dominant offense. In retrospect, I'm impressed with how well our D played those guys.

While last year was an incredibly rare instance where 11-5 missed the playoffs, as prior to that only a handful of 10-6 teams ever missed the playoffs, I believe that this year is not comparable. Right now the 6th seed in the playoff picture (Pittsburgh) is sitting at 6-5. While there are, perhaps, many more teams in contention than last year, competing for that last spot, there is no way 11-5 does not get in this year. While I agree the Bills chances are highly remote at this point, they do exist, because at best 9-7/10-6 will claim that last spot. With all of the head to head matchups still to come between the log jam at 5-6 or 6-5 right now, there's a reasonable chance 9-7 will get in this year. That being said, the Bills once again are not in good shape for tiebreakers, having lost to Jax, Tenn., and Hou. Within the division, however, their tiebreakers could be favorable as if they run the table they finish 4-2 in the division with a sweep of the Jets. The Pats totally collapsing would be a stretch, but I doubt they win tonight against the Saints. And it's feasible the Dolphins beat them, as they've had their number of late. The bottom line is, the Pats have some tough games left, and they're not unbeatable this year by any means. A couple losses later... ya just never know. At least we're still in contention at this point and the games mean something. -
For those in this thread who seem to be enamored with Mallett, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. That being said, because of his transfer and everything, he's a red shirt sophomore at this point, and I see no reason he would come out this year. As the previous poster said, he would likely be drafted in the mid rounds, and he'll get a shot somewhere. I just don't see him amounting to anything at the NFL level. Great arm strength, but way too many bad decisions, missed throws, bad mobility, etc.

Thurman Thomas disrespected by two current players
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can picture Moorman and Lindell doing a little "messin with Sasquatch" type routine on ole' Thurman. Moorman probably got Thurman's attention and was like "Mr. Thomas, could I get your autograph? That'd be swell!" Meanwhile Lindell got down on all fours behind Thurman setting up for ye ole' "school boy trip" ... just as Thurman goes to sign the auto. Moorman goes "PSYCH!!!!" gave #34 a shove, tripping back over Lindell and planting squarely on his ass. Then Lindell and Moorman hovered over him, giving him a little taunt and saying "We got serious work to do here old timer!" Clearly... this is how it went down. -
Grippy, I believe if you take the time to reread my post you'll find sufficient provisions for your rebuttal. It's not about the win, it's about how the team played and the manner in which they ultimately won. Games we've won in the past few seasons rarely, if ever had this flow. This team went into the 4th quarter today and didn't go into a soft zone, they brought heat, time and time again. They didn't run the ball up the gut 3 times and punt, they took a shot for the TD. Not to mention, Perry had the stones to send Lindell back out there and take that 56 yard shot at a FG. You could see the look in Lindell's face when he nailed it... it was different. There's a certain confidence there that I haven't seen in a while. It played out much differently. Remember the Jets game earlier this year? Had we won this game in a similar fashion, I would take the win, but not hold out much hope that things are changing. Today was different. As stated in the original post... 5 games left... lets see if it continues.

I'm with you. We have to remember, he's still a young player himself. He looks MUCH better right now than he did when he first came in for Trent. He seems to be improving, and he's definitely got a little moxie to boot.
-
We'll have to see what happens from here on out, but today had a MUCH different feel. Not just winning, but the attitude the team took into this game. They were bringing pressure, playing aggressive... taking the game to Miami. When Fitzpatrick launched that bomb to T.O. and essentially sealed the deal, I had to say to myself... "Ye Ole'... I think Buffalo Bills football has returned..."

Agreed. I've watched this guy since he came to Michigan and now on to Arkansas. The guy is terrible. He makes terrible decisions, has no mobility, makes bad throws. He has a strong arm, but that's about it. No way he makes it as an NFL QB.

Ryan Mallet is HORRIBLE. I have watched this guy since he came in at Michigan and while he has had some nice games this year, he cannot move at all. He makes terrible decisions. He is far from a Big Ben clone. This guy is like Rob Johnson with much more limited mobility. Absolutely terrible.
