  1. He'd be an interesting flyer rotational piece that could become more if he fit in well. But he's not someone I'd have paid 12m to.
  2. DE Malcolm Koonce re-signs with the Raiders - 1 yr, 12m
  3. I disagree with the ceiling thing. At least in terms of the player in this offense. I think his ceiling is why he was brought in and at the much larger price than expected he was signed to (signaling there was a market). The feeling is he wasn't really able to reach the potential that his metrics say he should be at - in large part to playing in a Harbaugh offense. And the type of WR he is what we've been missing. He has the potential to be great with Josh. Is that a guarantee? No. And I agree, on paper, it's nothing to be excited about and think it really moves the needle. Did I want more than this? Absolutely. But the potential is there. And the contract says they believe he hasn't reached his ceiling. https://x.com/TheJoeMarino/status/1899178144118059395?t=4IsfyTo5LSYcnuc1RjOQ2Q&s=19 https://x.com/Jones11_/status/1899187156113076585?t=t5_wbKX6esmAfmY_LCq_Kw&s=19
  4. I don't think you're going to see anything big at Safety. Reading between the lines of things McBeane has said - seems like Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop are the starters they want. Might see a cheaper vet as insurance. But I'm not expecting anything Chinn level. Though I'd be here for it. Cornerback is the thing i'd expect they'd target, with the Draft being deep in DL and having a massive hole at CB. Charvarius Ward is the next name I'll be saying "f-ck!" to if/when he's announced signing elsewhere.
  5. Joe was correct on Josh Palmer. But *very* incorrect about the price.
  6. Is it? Comes in less than Rousseau in both total contract and guaranteed money. I honestly expected a little more. I'm disappointed we didn't do this deal. But considering he's reuniting with his former Defensive coach and he went to a warm weather team (don't know if that was a priority for him or not, but it could have been) - we may not have had a shot.
  7. Damn, really? I'd have went 4 for 76 on Sweat.
  8. Everyone's been talking about him as a fit. Sal Cappaccio and Matthew Bove on their show. Joe Marino did as well on his Mock Offseason. The Cover 1 guys. I've heard his name as a potential FA target prob more than anyone else. 12m per is a lot more than I was expecting. But he obviously must have had a market.
  9. My gut says that there's probably some health concern over Benford getting two concussions in a week. They may want to see how he bounces back from that. Combine that with the Cornerback market being a little trickier than say a Middle Linebacker or a Slot WR and I think that's why it hasn't been done yet - when i'd assume he'd be one of the first ones done. Perhaps it still happens. But it wouldn't surprise me if they want to see how this season goes and worry about it next offseason. Especially if they go big game hunting at CB in Free Agency.
  10. True. So be both the contender and the team that pays the money. But when you're constantly focusing on retaining *SO* many of your decent to pretty good players (on top of having a big time QB contract) - you heavily cut into the cap in future years, making it difficult to spend the kind of crazy money it requires to get truly great players.
  11. To do what? Take the guy we just signed to a 53m contract off the field? Even if we moved on from Samuel (he's a 12m Dead Cap hit this season) and Dalton Kincaid - that's still not enough slot reps to make a Kupp level investment for. Unless, again, you want to cut into Shakir's reps - in which case, why did we just make the investment we did?
  12. Kupp is a Slot WR. We don't need another Slot WR. We've got Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir (Slot), and Curtis Samuel (50% Slot). Then we have Dalton Kincaid, who's also half or more out of the Slot We need to find replacements for or re-sign Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins.
  13. At this point? A LOT of the excitement is gone with Tee Higgins being tagged, Garrett staying put, and not landing DK Metcalf. Trey Hendrickson would be a big land, but I'd doubt Cincinnati would deal him to us. I'd love to see Josh Sweat or Khalil Mack at DE. D.J. Reed, Charvarius Ward, or Carlton Davis at CB. And with Metcalf, Higgins, and Adams out - i'm open to Amari Cooper returning. Though I don't know that he will, I do believe his lack of use was due to a wrist that needed surgery. Fully healthy, who knows what he'd have done last year. He represents the best available WR at this point.
  14. That's funny. I was taking crap for saying this yesterday. Low and behold - here we are. Once again, putting a lot of assets into a large number of pretty good players at the cost of great ones.
  15. Between the Von release and this we should have saved 20.2m today.
  16. Yeah, that's another thing I don't agree with Joe on. Last year, he was on a 1 yr, 2.6m contract. He's going to get more than a 400k raise. If anyone offers him 5m or more, i'm out on him. I like him, but I don't like him that much. 4.5m is my ceiling.
  17. I guess that's one warm weather team with a solid QB that won't be in on DK Metcalf now. Adams with Nacua is a scary thought though.
  18. If they had an offseason that was less than this mock projection - this place is going to be unbearable.
  19. Creating Space: Josh Allen Extension: 11.8m Saved (Done) Greg Rousseau Extension: 9.8m Saved (Done) Connor McGovern Extension: 4.2m Saved Von Miller Cut: 8.4m Saved (Done) Ed Oliver Restructure: 8.7m Saved (Done) Dion Dawkins Restructure: 9.8m Saved Dawson Knox Restructure: 6.3m Saved Approximately 49.3m Under the Cap Re-Sign: RB Ty Johnson: 2 yrs, 6m (Done at 2 yrs, 5 m) FB Reggie Gilliam: 2 yrs, 5.5m (Done) WR Mack Hollins: 1 yr, 3m (Lost to New England Patriots) TE Quintin Morris: 1 yr, 2.5m LS Reid Ferguson, 2 yrs, 3m (Done) Free Agents Signed: DE Josh Sweat: 3 yrs, 60m CB Charvarius Ward: 2 yrs, 30m WR Josh Palmer: 2 yrs, 10m (Done at 3 yrs, 36m) DT Bobby Brown: 2 yrs, 7m DE Deatrich Wise: 1 yr, 3.5m NFL Draft (with trades): Round 1: DT Darius Alexander (Toledo) Round 2: DE Jared Ivey (Ole Miss) Round 2: WR Jaylin Noel (Iowa State) Round 3: S Kevin Winston (Penn State) Round 4: CB Dorian Strong (Virginia Tech) Round 5: RB Jarquez Hunter (Auburn) Round 6: TE CJ Dippre (Alabama) Thoughts: - Joe is usually much more conservative than this. When I put on the video, I wasn't expecting he'd have Josh Sweat and Charvarius Ward on his list. Both players I would be really happy with. Though I'd bet Sweat will cost more than 20m after the deals to Garrett and Crosby. - I'd like to see something a little more at WR then Mack returning, a 2nd Round speedster, and Josh Palmer. But he makes a good argument for why Palmer would fit this offense well. - I wouldn't re-sign Morris and I'd probably pass on paying Gilliam that much. - I agree that with the roster as it would be after his moves in Free Agency, we wouldn't have room for 10 Draft Picks. So he probably would move around a bit using those picks. All in all, a fun video by Joe and an offseason i'd be relatively happy with. I really like what I've seen from Josh Sweat and how he could fit in with this Defense, opposite Groot. And a Christian Benford, Charvarius Ward starting duo would be a big step up from last season.
  20. Here's the thing - there isn't 32 quality starters in the NFL. Let alone quality backups. And when it comes to the Top Backups, they choose to go to the following situations: - A team that has nothing at QB where they might at least be able to compete for a starting job. - A team that has a Top Pick and will select a Rookie that may not be ready Day 1 and they can be a bridge. - A team with an often injured QB - A team that has an underperforming young starter that could be pulled. - A team that has a weak veteran starter that could be pulled. We check literally none of those boxes. Josh is the MVP and thus far (knock on wood) doesn't miss time. A quality backup looks at this situation and says "I have no chance to see the field". Because of that, we're always going to have to settle for the Mitch Trubisky's, Kyle Allen's, and Case Keenum's of the world.
  21. Garrett and Diggs want/wanted out and either made that known or went nuclear publicly to make that happen. Cook wants the Bills to pay him. There is no comparison there.
  22. You're putting words in my mouth. That's not what I said. What I said is it is slightly concerning or eyebrow raising to see him tie up such a slice of the pie in future years on bringing back so many of these players. Especially given that his MO that he has been raked over the coals for years over is re-signing good to pretty good players at the cost of bringing in great players. It's starting to feel like more of the same. And I'm far from the only one worried that he's falling into the same patterns. We'll see what happens. Hoping for the best. But add a Benford and/or Cook in there and we're taking up a large portion of the pie in the later years where we'd be pushing the big numbers for bigger pieces via Trade this year.
  23. Gotta be honest - I'm a little concerned when it comes to the Cap. Extensions in a vacuum provide more this year. But if we're getting someone big, we're going to have to push the big numbers into years that follow. And Bernard and Rousseau are guys I wouldn't have put on the books for bigger numbers in 2026, 2027, and so on. If we extend Benford (as we should) and/or Cook - then we're really cutting into things in future years. To me, one of the things that we'd need to do to get one (or more) of the bigger ticket items this offseason was probably not re-signing most of these guys. And he seems to want to bring them all back.
