  1. I totally agree with you here. I wonder if Kelly, Thurman etc. actually care as much as they say (they sound like us most of the time). If they can actually execute a plan to keep the Bills here, I will be forever in their debt. Maybe there really is a handshake deal between Ralph and Kelly+investors, they just don't discuss it publicly (as is their right). At this point, all of my hope is pinned on Kelly, Thurman etc....those guys couldn't let a guy down for a 5th time..right?
  2. Nahh, I'd just spend the money on the golf course on those beautiful September/October fall Sundays
  3. True and every indication is that they used Avery's rap sheet or "pattern" against him, but if I was Avery I'd be pissed the NHLPA didn't back me.
  4. I'm really suprised there is no fight on this.
  5. I like Bruce Feirstein, some funny stuff. Enjoy... http://www.vanityfair.com/online/politics/...ion-leaked.html
  6. Yes, but on the last couple of PGH drives, when we needed to make a stop via pressure, it would have helped a lot. That would have given Kelly another chance, and Kelly had the offense revved in the ssecond half. Our D couldn't get off the field.
  7. I remember it well, my grandmother sent a care package of homemade chicken soup to the stadium.
  8. Balvenie Doublewood is a smoother one I like as well. Cragganmore is a good one. Not a Bowmore fan. I do tend to favor anything from Islay.
  9. I was thinking about doing the same thing. Waiting to see what else Congress has up its sleeve. Keep us posted regarding fees, if you would.
  10. I agree with respect to those two. If I'm enjoying a single malt they serve in a standard bar, it'll be LaGavulin or Laphroaig, and it'll be neat.
  11. Pretty good for home heating oil as well. I'm planning to lock in a 3 year contract in 1st quarter next year.
  12. Focus on the U6 number, far more realistic. Unemployment is 12.2% in this country right now.
  13. Without getting into his obvious failings with RISP or in close and late situations, he truly seems like the phoniest guy I have ever seen. Every move is calculated and fake. The best thing he did was say he didn't care about Jeter before the 07 season, it freed his mind to have a great year. In 08, back to the same schit. I can only imagine the ills 09 will bring with Madonna.
  14. Sacrilege!! You actually put ice cubes into your single malt? Whats the friggin' point? Neat, or for cask strength malts, add a touch of distilled water to open it up.
  15. You have to be kidding? I really can't believe the Yankees signed this douche for 10 years. I have to watch this **** for 9 more years...
  16. I missed that about Giambi, good find. Nevertheless, noone from MLB had contracts cancelled due to steroids. If Avery gets 8-10 games and a heavy fine for referring to an ex-gf as "sloppy seconds" I think the NHL is very wrong here. Personally, I would start testing the bounds of free speech on every occasion.
  17. They can have fun with that one...if the Yankees could not void Giambi's contract after Giambi admitted taking steroids, ain't no way Dallas wins this one. Far too much of a slippery slope for the union. Even if the union has no desire to fight for Avery, they have no choice. And I love the 10-20 game suspension that article talks about...WTF? For referring to an ex gf as sloppy seconds? This is going to be heavily challenged by the union. You may see a compromise...a paid leave of absence, but IMHO Dallas is going to lose on this one.
  18. The NHLPA?
  19. Undoubtedly that is true, but thats part of the reason why the union exists...to fight for players who are arbitraily suspended...like for saying something about an ex-girlfriend.
  20. Until the union gets involved.
  21. Only for criticizing officials...nothing else in my knowledge.
  22. AIG's business plan would have been something like this.... Stop writing CDS contracts. Close AIG Financial Products. Keep everything else the same. And it would have been perfectly accepted. The big three have far more complex problems than AIG for many reasons. Its just that AIG going bankrupt would suck in dozens of other institutions due to the CDS contracts and effectively cancel the insuance for many, many homeowners and businesses (remember AIG is the largest insuance company in the world).
  23. In fairness to the Big 3, they have bypassed the hybrid technology for fuel cell technology which is currently being tested in Westchester County. It is the more promising technology. And I really would not trade my Jeep Wrangler for any other car.
  24. But that severance package was A- Negotiated at arms length with the board of directors B- Often includes substantial portions of deferred compensation that the executive could have taken in past years (when times were good) but deferred for whatever reason C- May also include stock options that are virtually worthless The executive does not receive a check for $70 million It is jealousy...why does it matter if the CEOs of the big 3 took a private jet to DC? It really has no bearing on the company's overall financial health...its dimes in couch cushions.
  25. Why do you think executive compensation has gotten so much play when it is not even close to the problem? This country is overrun with jealousy over what others have versus what you have. Its completely ridiculous and caters to the lowest common denominator.
