  1. Money. What would make you think otherwise? And the statement's verity remains...
  2. No reply - I am trying to be decorous. Self-imposed
  3. Jeeze... It was a family matter, a local matter in which the local police investigated and didn't get bent out of shape about. Go pick on the mass of youngsters that discover some jingle in their pockets, and then go hound the bars, if it helps... Youth makes mistakes almost by definition. They err, because neither money or love can give experience. We all gotta get that, alone. Most, by far, figure things out as time wears on. Neither you or I were there. He apologized (and I don't think for an instant he had to do that in the first place).
  4. Right...like that self-serving Peanut Farmer who still mucks things up anywhere and anytime, that stiffed the Shah of Iran and enabled the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and it's Shiite campaign of terror. Jimmie's hands are dripping with blood... No thanks. No deja vu.
  5. Ask Jim Leyland and some Pirate players about his playoff play. If you claim he is one of the best ever, don't forget his immense petulance and selfishness and lifting his leg on others. All before the 'roids... Just a thought.
  6. With his forearm rising to the knee. I know I raise mine up when I'm falling rather than brace my body hitting the ground...same as Vince W. Doesn't everybody?
  7. Well, he could go back to the land of his collegiate fame - with court permission. My guess if he does that, he'll be fished out of the Monongahela River sometime in the future. "Don't Cry for Me, West Virginny"...
  8. No...not like CLE. I read somewhere recently, that nationwide the rate is less than 3%. Certainly there were unscrupulous lenders - but the basic question folks should have asked was: Why would someone lend me money with 0 or near 0% down? It wasn't so long ago that less that 20% was sub-prime. At closing, APR and payment schedule are prominent. Only a miniscule number of buyers fail to understand those numbers. A good number of folks went in wide-eyed, buying property that their financial strength could not support. I personally know 2 folks that bragged about how clever they were to get a large house with zip put down. No idea how they sit now - but they rolled the dice themselves. Regarding Henry: He won the game if he's off the hook with only spending less that 800 bucks for his occupancy. Cheap livinng. I'd speculate he got a sweetheart deal...name recognition, potential earnings and the like. Not to start a political row, but perhaps one could liken it to the Clinton's deal on their posh place in NYS, in 1999: NY Times article: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75AC0A96F958260 The old adage... "An ounce of pull is worth a pound of push", still rings true...
  9. Maybe he's just a Caballero...
  10. Paid off less than 800 bucks on a $360K property. He must be one of those poor schmucks victimized by predatory lenders that some Congressmen are wringing their hands about... http://www.wlwt.com/news/16278073/detail.html
  11. Those who don't steal the work of others?
  12. That's a Hank Bullough quote!
  13. Are they one of the "card" places, that want your name, address, and phone# in exchange for discounts on some items?
  14. What...no whole grain!
  15. I remember that moniker.
  16. Which makes me wonder when one of their crew spills his guts for a book deal. Or spills privately, to the crowd calling the gambling shots.
  17. No - Loblaws and the Bells' outfits were competitors. IRC, the Bell's name spread slowly, as they bought up or lent the name to smaller stores and delis. Many were originally, privately-owned Mom 'n Pops who initially joined the I.G.A. (IGA was jokingly referred to back then as "I Gyp Anyone", because their prices could not compete with the likes of A&P and Loblaws). I know about Schmidt - I'd wager your Mom and me know a few names in common. Hop into Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine...Red&White stores.
  18. AFAIK, such - like CIN had in their contracts - got shoved over the cliff with the new CBA. Dunno...
  19. Loblaws is a Canadian company. They changed their WNY store names to "Food Arena" in the late '60's. S&H Green Stamps was their sales shtick. AFAIK, the Bell's chain arose out of the old I.G.A. (Independent Grocer's Association). Red Stamps IIRC - maybe Plaid Stamps. I forget which. Rockpile knows a lot about the WNY food biz...perhaps he will chime in.
