  1. Ahh...Penny. A favorite whipping boy of numerous TSW'er's through the years. Noodle-armed, injury-prone, can't make any long tosses, etc.
  2. Jets were out when BAL defeated JAX. I'm sure they would have liked to get in the playoffs, but are probably glad that the loss to MIA stuck it to NE*
  3. Could be flooding... http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?...e+Flood+Warning
  4. I bought a Daisy model 880 BB gun for the heck of it, 10 or so years ago. Something like 35 bucks. I was amazed at its' power. With the maximum 10 pumps, the manual says it will shoot a BB with a muzzle velocity of 685 fps, and a lead .177 pellet at 665 fps. Those figures are close to a standard velocity .22 Short. The manual quotes a max range of 291 yards with a BB, 284 yards with a pellet.
  5. If the Sunday weather prediction holds true, this will be a game of few passes. Or passes at risk. Stay tuned.
  6. I don't think that is the case. I don't know, but that would seem to be in opposition to normal employment contracts signed between a privately-owned, non-incorporated business (the Bills) and any employee (Coach Jauron). There is nothing that, IMO, stops Ralph & Co. working out a quid pro quo with another team. But that implies that another team hires Jauron in some capacity. Any way, I assume Jauron has a current, valid contract with a dollar figure and a host of clauses and perks. No idea about an extension, about clauses in same. If an extension was signed by both, Ralph honors it or offers a buy-out. If not, Ralph only has to pay off the existing agreement if he wants to jettison Jauron. If they both agreed to some sort of financial offset if Jauron takes other NFL employment, well so be it. Myself, I never agonize about the irksome things that may upset 7-figure earnings people.
  7. Whoever wins the toss better pick the wind in the 4th. If they have an ounce of brains. NE* can't be happy about the high wind forecast. If it comes - and it seems pretty sure - it affects both club's pass game, and that will hurt them more. Knocking them out of the playoffs would be a more satisfying ending to a bittersweet season. Like Gollem said: "We Hates Them.".
  8. Sure you do...slammed him for a hundred words or so then offered up a kind wish, followed by a finishing slap in the puss...
  9. You attempt humor, but can't detect it in return. Sad...
  10. Not true. I seldom finish my coffee. I will add that the McD I go to is one of their "training" establishments - they also provide free, the local newspaper. They never charge me the 3 cents tax (Pity? Maybe. I like to think they applaud my innate savoir-faire and impeccable good manners).
  11. You're pretty generous now that you have a rock. All I got was a $15 McD card to buy me 30 of my senior small coffees.
  12. Indeed they did. Speaking of Cobras, there used to be a Ford garage up in Niagara Falls - Jerry Hamams' (don't know if they are still in business). They ran cars up at the Niagara drag strip by the Air Force base - one was a blown 289 Mustang funny car, the other was a 289 cobra variant - the DragonSnake. http://www.cobragt40.co.za/Dragon%20Snake.htm I remember being up in NF sometime in 1967, and stopping by at Hamams'. They had 2 left-over 1966 Cobra 427s with no buyers (they were quite pricey for the times - 6K). Wish I had the money back then...
  13. It's show biz! This is 2008! Everybody's opinion counts!
  14. Detroit used to make specials for drag racing, and NASCAR. In addition to the Superbird and the Dodge Daytona, Ford made the Talledega Torino GT in 1969 with a bulbous drop-nose, and Dodge made the Charger 500 in 1968 (I think). It had a flush grille, and the back window was flush instead of recessed. Developed in 1964, Ford dropped their 427 SOHC motor into the Galaxie in 1966. It would have killed the MoPars - but NASCAR banned it. The tunnel-port 427 wedge Ford motors were beating Chrysler - which is why they produced Superbird/Daytona. Ford retaliated with the 1969 Boss 429 motor - huge intake passages; you could drop a baseball through the intake manifold side of the heads. It would have murdered the Chryslers - but Ford dropped out of racing then. The 1st Mustang CJ428's were sold in 1960 sans insulation for drag competition (The 428CJ being the 428 2-bolt main block, with large-valve 406 heads replacing the smaller 390 head). In 1965, Dodge made the D/Stock Dart, 273 c.i. without a stitch of insulation, in 1966 Mercury sold a stripped down 390 Comet GT with functional scoops called the C/Stock Comet. All three manufactures had all sorts of options available for competition. In 1968, Olds made a Cutlass version called the Ram-Rod 350, with ducted scoops under the front bumper and a cam profile with so much overlap it would barely idle - or so it was said. Even AMC kicked in a few items, notably the compact Scrambler.
  15. Yipes! Should be entertaining to watch pass attempts...
  16. Very nice. An uncle of mine came up from Fla. in his then-new '65 Falcon convertible. 260 or 289 V-8, 4sp, white on white, with the A/C option underneath the dash.
  17. Well..that's your opinion!
  18. 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible, with a 4-speed, locking differential, and 427 wedge with dual 4 bbl carbs. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsfo...0xl/758843.html
  19. You have to be cautious about disabling traction control and /or electronic stability control. They are tied into the ABS system, so defeating them usually defeats the ABS. And probably make the instrument panel light up like a Christmas tree. My guess is that your Prius would go nuts - it is a highly integrated vehicle. Snows are always a plus - the recommendation with ABS is to mount them on all fours, although I have used just fronts. I wouldn't do that on a car equipped with ESC...getting into a situation where it activates, and having tires with different tractive capabilities could make things exciting... Expensive iron with bigger rear tires - Porsches and the like, make do - but those are cost-is-no-object systems.
  20. They changed it - not just for Prius but on their other vehicles. They now tout the fact that you can turn it off as a "feature" I'm not sure what system they use - the lesser ones cut cut power to the drive wheels, the more sophisticated do some of that, but also can apply brake force to the drive wheel that is spinning, directing power to the wheel(s) that the system senses to have more traction. Some systems are never completely off - I believe Mercedes and Ford are of that type (and might very by model).
  21. I saw one in a newspaper ad - Dick's I think. It didn't appear to have a compass. Could it be that kids don't know what one is?
  22. They're pretty wealthy. To them the Lions might be like a pet goldfish. That reliably makes them - I dunno - 10? 20? 30 million a year profit? Enough to motor the yacht to the Mediterranean, and play a few games of chance at Monte Carlo or Biarritz. Take in a little skiing at Zermatt or St. Moritz with the Grimaldis and the Rothschilds. That sort of fun stuff.
  23. I saw a blurb on tv a few days ago. If your GPS was purchased from Walmart, you have just 15 days to return it. I was looking around about GPS units a while back. I noticed that there are units meant for trails, others for roadways, and some for both (expensive, AFAIK).
  24. Whitner hit him when he was already going to the turf. I was surprised a flag wasn't thrown. Ocho Dinko was short-arming passes and taking dives all game long. Recall TJ Housh yelling at him on the sideline. After his drama queen performance, he had a miracle recovery and got on the team plane that evening. He's out now - missed the CLE game and will miss this Sunday against KC - tweaked hamstring. I'm sure it's legit - I will say that he plays hurt, and has taken hellacious hits all his career. This injury is bad timing for him - he likes to dog it, but usually finishes strong. Its' messing with his desire to get traded.
  25. Thank you, Jerry! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
