  1. From what little I've see of the PS games so far - the new ST rules have teams in a state of confusion. Kick-off or punt, I'd be hesitant to toss away a juke 'n jive returner. Plus, you have to consider a player's contract, cap, payout etc. Like Ellison, I don't know what his contract calls for, but money counts - it enters into decisions about axing this or that player.
  2. Fantasy football rankings reach the same mythical status as many other rankings!
  3. Many variables... The preponderance of C2 coverage BUF plays, what was the opposing offense's field positions?, what was the game score differential at any point in time?, "handing off" coverage, touchdowns given up vs. completions denied... I think, when trying to rate CBs, you have to also somehow factor in their effectiveness on run plays...tackles, assists, being in a position to cause a runner or blocker to juke or change directions. As well as taking the chance now and again, of "jumping" a route...and some glory-bound CBs abuse that IMO. I think CBs are hard to rank or rate. I sure can't do it well.
  4. I read somewhere that teams used a heavy blitz to combat MIA's "wildcat. I can't verify that - I watched no MIA games. AFAIK, Glanville just quit pro football after 1993. He did some tv, and is in the college ranks now. Colorful guy - when he was with HOU, he and CIN's Sam Wyche would take delight in running up the score against each other...some sort of personal fued I guess.
  5. Look on the bright side. The number of Death to DJ threads should ebb this week.
  6. This is a real Clash of The Titans...
  7. CBS sportsline or nfl.com game center is up-to-date. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gamecenter/li...0090815_CHI@BUF
  8. Lindell kicked off out-of bounds. CHI on their 40. Chi punted to BUF 6 yd line
  9. RuPaul. That would certainly liven up the post-game press conference...
  10. 32 teams...for decades...disagree with that. Why is that?
  11. S.W.A.T. sting with cuffs at the ready? They already know you're angry...
  12. Paying cash to stop killing. And continue with commerce. That's Life in the Third World. Terrible but that's what is done. Paying protection happens. Chiquita is based here. And I've followed the ins and outs of this for some time. Their competition is Dole, and we know about House Speaker Pelosi and Dole Co's hq in her district and her putting in minimum wage rise exemptions for Dole interests. Sorry about the sap comment. You are being gracious, referring to it as indirect. I beg your pardon for my snot comment.
  13. Sorry - I get the propaganda mixed up sometimes.
  14. Yep. He runs that offense. No question whatsoever why the other players put out effort.
  15. Consider the credibility of your link. Then seek further, especially the numerous WTO rulings against the EU. "60 Minutes" has quite an agenda. Remember their episode about GM truck gas tanks, and when it was proven that they installled explosive devices to pimp their point? Or their phony Audi "runaway' piece? Or their attack on Jeeps? Don't be a sap and buy into their political Marxist leanings. See also Consumer Reports.
  16. Was Kimo there? "Just give it to 'em" never happened. The "Music City Miracle" never happened. The worker who swept the snow away for a NE FG never happened. The "Immaculate Reception" was legit and the ball wasn't touched and dead. There was no skate in the crease when the Dallas Stars eliminated the Sabres and was awarded the Cup. IIRC, the Big Cheese didn't want to spoil the moment, or some such. Pucks going through the netting count. Palming, charging, and traveling didn't matter if your name was Michael Jordan.
  17. Then, there are some that feel that 4 of the last 5 SBs were...pre-ordained. Like the Jerome Bettis Victory Tour Final Game Against Seattle...
  18. Absolutely. He has a decent arm, but better yet, superb instincts. He ducks out at the hint of heat coming his way, motors about and has WRs with heads on a swivel trained by the PGH staff to cut off their patterns and come back to make a catch for positive yardage.
  19. Yep. The machines are a godsend for older folks, or those of any age who have skeletal concerns and ripping tendons and the like who just want to maintain flexibility. You can go easy, go aerobic if you like without pounding the sinew and joints. I'd add that I've read for years and years that most exercise devices don't get used once the good intentions wane. Something like 90% get dumped out the door - dunno. There's a consignment chain here is Cincinnati that moves these devices on the cheap. I used to know some of the crowd that runs it. Pfft. Vipers. But you can buy cheap. Watch for the garage sales, too.
  20. Who knows? DJ's an older man, been in the football biz for a long, long time. He's made a good amount of money through the years. Some folks were surprised that a 73 year-old man - John Madden, hung it up. Or wonder why, that at age 65, Marty Shottenheimer might not want to go back and try to coach some wise-*ss 23 year-old multimillionaires that are mostly concerned with partying, driving around in goofy cars with hilarious wheels, and getting their knobs licked.
  21. No. There is no "starting" OL yet established. Sad but true. They traded a player, cut some. They would be nuts to simply anoint a starting line based on draft selection or off-season trades or acquisition. Having that extra HOF game is a useful happenstance for a team that chopped up their OL. They can with hope get some insight, and begin to set the starters in game 2, instead of the usual game 3. Get some idea about bench players. That they choose to use this no-huddle thing when their OL is up in the air, still mystifies me.
  22. He was an amazing athlete. Spent his last season in CIN (didn't round into shape until game 5 or so - haha). CIN went nowhere of course. But he was still cat-quick off the snap, and demanded double-teaming. I don't remember why he parted ways with BUF. I always like to repeat how a poster here years ago described Adams... "A blitzing linebacker who happens to be built like a rhino." When he left the CIN team, he bought into one of those PT Barnum arena sports things or some such. Haven't heard anything about him since.
  23. Sam Adams made the cover of Sports Illustrated: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/cov.../9953/index.htm
