  1. No, the goal you pick to defend in the 1st is the one you defend in the 3rd. It doesn't change after halftime. Before this deferral stuff came into being, when the wind was going to be really a factor, smart teams that won the toss gave the loser two kickoffs in exchange for the wind at their backs in the 2nd and the 4th quarters. People make cases for getting the ball first, defending first and so on, thesedays.
  2. They've assembled a decent defense the past few years. I still can't believe Maualuga lasted into rnd 2.
  3. As well as the little-called "Illegal Penetration".
  4. Yup. The NFL is "what have you done lately - as in that last play".
  5. Off-topic, mavent...seems your comments in August about Cedric Benson and the CIN OL were a bit off.
  6. They won 17 - 14. CIN screwed themselves out of 14 to 17 points, also.
  7. Corner kick?
  8. Bills only have one time-out left. Coincidence?...or not!
  9. I toted it up. Between him and Moorman...14 punts for 636 yards so far.
  10. Quack, quack?
  11. Looks CLE erred in trading away their decoy WR...
  12. Let's have a show of hands. Who's hoping for the excitement of OT?
  13. 1st qtr. TOP: Dead even at 7:30 for each.
  14. Yep - those are real fightin' words...
  15. Wife 'n me are going to see this tomorrow. I'll report back. http://www.esquiretheatre.com/film2.htm It's sad that school children no longer are tasked to memorize poetry - that deepest soul of, and vitality of our language... I'm not being a snob here, btw. EDIT: We did not go.
  16. Recent phenomenon. On any given day when I attended grade/high school, my guess is that 60% were downing PBJ sandwiches for lunch. If there were reactions, all we kids would have known about it. I attended school when polio affliction was a big, big thing. If peanut allergies were out there, they were off the radar by a long shot. The nation's parents then would have correctly rallied in same fashion against polio and spoken up big time. But they didn't. What changed?
  17. Weapons of Mass Destruction - go for it!
  18. I have those, also. I also have a good weather radio. It is very loud and clear. It has a light that illuminated the ceiling. We have perhaps 4 or 5 tornado warnings per year here in SW Ohio, along with numerous severe thunderstorm warnings. It's located on top of the armoire in our bedroom - about 4 feet up and away from the side of the bed my wife sleeps on. It can go off and scream bloody murder - she doesn't wake up.
  19. C'mon folks - the Nobel Prize voters were just making amends for the racial hatred exhibited by the I.O.C.
  20. ...and two years ago, some here were crowing about him being the NFL's best coverage LB, citing (I think) passes defended.
  21. Can't say it it's the worst ever. But it is a good match-up of...top...picks.
  22. A 5th round rookie...probably no time with the 1st team weekday practices...who has zero knowledge of the tendencies of opposing offensive players. Were I an OC and saw converted safety Harris line up as a starter, I'd be greedily rubbing my foreparts together like a fly contemplating fresh dogsh*t.
  23. It shows. If I got an expansion franchise, my first picks are Punter Kicker Center Linebackers Other OL players. Guards first. Then everybody else.
  24. Were I an opponent, I'd love to explore his pass coverage skills if he got tossed in at LB. Will he notice the nuance of a back drifting out? Can I have my tight end make a quick chip block, take a step outside then inside? Can he beat that TE? Will he get beat because his mindset is to go after my passer and let me get an easy reception? LB duty is different than DE duty. If they contemplate him as a LB, they better educate him with several weeks' worth of practice at the position.
  25. They have decent linebackers. Spikes lost steps with injury and age, but he didn't lose any smarts or moxie.
