  1. The opening drive: 10 plays, 82 yards, 4:56 minutes of possession. NO 7, BUF .
  2. Every teams' defense (theoretically) adapts over the halftime break based on first half performance - time to think things over. The defense you face after the opening kickoff is different that the one you face at the start of the 3rd. Again, I would never defer unless wind was a factor. I won't pass up the opportunity to catch the opposition before they get their "game legs" working. I also think it's wrong to send the message to the players that you are playing "strategery" games.
  3. Pick up DD Dorsey. He was in a fierce, down-to-the-wire battle with Brian Leonard for a roster spot in CIN. He's also a fine ST player.
  4. I would only defer if wind was a factor, so as to have at my back in the 4th. If not, I take the ball. Defenses are reactive to what I do. I own the snap. On the first series, defensive players are tense, and their bodies have yet to unlimber and get into "game groove." Teams scoring on opening drives isn't uncommon.
  5. I watched the Fresno St. - Cincinnati game this past Saturday. It was a great coaching battle - FS couldn't allow Cin on the field with their kinda weak defense (Cin had something like 16 minutes of possession and scored 4 times), and Cin took the body blows from FS's fine rush attack and played near-prevent pass defense all game long. Hard to believe that Fresno St. is 1 and 3. Their RB Ryan Mathews should toss his ring into the NFL draft . His long gain was 11 yards, but he carried 38 times for 145. That kid shows pro moves and savvy.
  6. All is good. Point taken about Brady*... you never know.
  7. Have your QB under center and with a quick count execute a quick hand-off to an up back 4 or 5 times That usually teaches a 3 - 4 a lesson. Unfortunately, today's OCs don't have the walnuts to do that anymore.
  8. Wow! You swiped my avatar and my profile text. That must be a TSW first. Your praise is humbly noted, but what did I do to deserve such an honor from you? EDIT: Why didn't you copy my sig lines?
  9. That's right. The Mideast Islamic nations buy technology and sophisticated hard goods abroad. That is their Achilles heel. They won't x-ray or otherwise inspect every piece of specialty pipe they buy, for example. Bad lubricants. Bad hydraulic fluid. Since those ISO 9000x standards showed up, folks accept that CoA - Certificate of Analysis from a supplier - it gave a basis for money recovery or lawsuit , and the purchaser relaxed or eliminated in-house testing of received product. The Iranian processing facilities define the phrase "confined space". It wouldn't take much. And a trusted but co-opted Irani plant worker armed with knowledge could destroy everything. Find a man, upset about his government, one with a disease that he cannot escape from. Get him a job within. Money always talks. Spirit his family out and assure income and anonimity.
  10. That 3rd (or 4th) player on the progression is almost always open - short. I say keep Roscoe in and let him do his juke 'n jive thing to get the 1st down.

  12. Why? I'd imagine that it would be fun to see. All qbs have decent hands.
  13. I'd spike the gatorade with gin after the half. That should get 'em going.
  14. Thanks for the link!
  15. I didn't know that you could keep it open. Not that I would, anyway.
  16. ??? I just clicked on it. It's working.
  17. Nice try to spin off the subject. I also saw glimpses of his play in other games. IMO, he was playing like a college qb, not bad thing for a team with numerous problems. He was a 7th round selection in '07, so I don't think he has anything but the minimum contract for the position and his 2 years. He then, would be a cheap pick-up. Anybody could match his tender price, if that even applies. They didn't come calling. You seem to think I have something against the youngster because I expressed my opinion. I certainly don't. If he turns out to be MIA's next Marino, good for him.
  18. It's odd then, that 31 other teams weren't pounding on the Chiefs' door during the off-season to be first in line to buy Tyler's services...
  19. Here's the latest... http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/09/29/cr...ry5349005.shtml
  20. He played against CIN in the teams' who-could-care-less '08 final game. IIRC, it was a low-score dog of a game, and Thigpen did squat.
  21. When will you be leaving us?
  22. Well, it certainly isn't Maybin...
