I wonder if the NFL will swoop in for an unannounced blood draw...

If Rush was buying our Bills instead of the Rams...
stuckincincy replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly...what is "real money" these days? The Treasury Dept. is issuing 15 billion dollars of short-term securities for sale every day. Nobody is buying the long-term stuff. This Administration's deficit is 3 times the previous record, and they are printing money. The U6 unemployment rate (the honest one) is 17% http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t12.htm Hyperinflation is around the corner. Buy your durable goods now. I am. -

What will be the "spin" next year?
stuckincincy replied to LA Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. -
Yep! I know I chunter on about the B'gals. That's the team here, so I've been treated to their antics through the years. It has been instructive, though. They readily established the baseline about what not to do, ever since Paul Brown passed on. Though it saddens me to say - the Bills' organization is starting to emanate the same smell...

I think not, Sir. Since 1991, when Mike Brown took over after his Dad's death, and prior to this current season: They own 1/3 of the entire league's 0 and 8 starts. They have had 8 losing streaks of 7 or more games. Overall since 1991, they are 101 - 186 - 1. 71 of those wins were in the 2nd half of the season. Most folks here watch the B'gals out of curiosity, simply to see what they will do next.

Dumping Walker had to be a cash-saving move somehow on the face of it, else there was something else going on we will never know about...we know nothing about the contract language, except the signing bonus pocketed by the player, the duration, projected price, etc. Trying him at LT was odd, but I don't blame them for giving it a try. So it didn't work out - ok then. Walker may not be an All-Pro RT, but he was at worst, a reasonably competent, savvy vet at RT. Given their tackle woes, it's surprising that he's not back on the squad. I wonder if hard words were exchanged when he was axed. Dunno.

I feel your pain. Year after year after, we read the press about this or that others' teams LB making this or that big play and a difference. A good set of LBs - 3-4 or 4-3, really can get a team back into the mix. I'm not going to bother to research, but my seat-of-the-pants opinion is that BUF is one of the leagues' poor sisters in going after LB talent, at least ones with a bit of promise and of some size. They just don't seem to grasp the idea that while it is nice if the DL gets rb stops and a sack now and then, that the DL is there to push the pocket, harry the qb into an errant pass, reduce a rb's choices, and mess up timing and so giving the backfield an edge in coverage. And set up the lbs for a sure stop on a rb or short/mid zone passes to receivers, with a minimum of gain. I was really surprised that they didn't pull the trigger on Maualuga in the 1st round. He beat out Rashad Jeanty for a starting spot after a battle throughout the preseason at CIN - and Jeanty is a good LB (fourth on tackles last season for them; 2nd on ST tackles.) The Bills' D was crying out for a LB with impact - rookie or not. I shake my head at the Maybin pick. He may end up as dynamite, but IMO they shouldn't have picked for potential over current need. 2 cents...

Six year old suspended from school for 45 days
stuckincincy replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Back when I was in grade school, my retard parent. It was a rare lad that didn't have a pocket knife and had it in his pocket at school. But somehow nobody stabbed another. Imagine that. But that was in the times when the prevalent family unit wasn't an unmarried woman with court-ordered custody usually living on the taxpayer-paid dole. Back before the intrusion by government upon our population's innate morality. Well, one of the many outcomes of the "Great Society" legislation in the mid-'60's...stay tuned... -

Since Maybin is being swallowed up by NFL tackles

May I recommend the Desitin brand ointment?... -
This D is not "serviceable". What team have they forced out of their incoming offensive game plan as game time wore on? They have expressed their force of will on nobody, except poor TB and that blitz fest, and Mitchell going after Leftwich with an intentional forearm to the throat (Leftwich was livid that a PF flag wasn't thrown - so was I)...and every team gets films and got to see that. Mitchell was paid back in kind IMO. I posted after that cheap shot, and opined that was that he was a marked man. With all this "fire this guy and that guy" going on, if I were to can a coach, I'd can Fewell. Just play a conventional 4 -3, with safeties up and cbs back. Put in the nickel and dime as the situation presents. Perhaps execute a DB blitz from time to time. They don't have the personnel to fart around with the fancy defensive things. And I still scratch my head why Oman and Hamden are taking up two of the 53 roster spots. Nothing against them, but both are superfluous.

Off topic. This is about Maybin, not the what-ifs... -

I hope not. Maybin has little if any experience there. Don't put a rookie into a position to fail. If they think of him at a LB spot, work it out in training camp, not during the season. -
It's not irrelevant. You will almost never get a shot at the big prize without at least having a decent LB corps.

Wow! Some posts about players and possibilities vs. screaming rhetoric. Who woulda thunk it?

I'm a bit surprised that a late cut (9/5) by CIN, LB Darryl Blackstock, isn't on somebody's roster this season. He was a decent player on the field and on STs. He was active for 12 games last season, with 4 starts. He had a 4 game suspension for an OTC substance, and manned up and apologized to the team and the fans for that. He would be a 5th year vet - I suppose the minimum vet $$$ he would have to be paid works against him. That's a factor teams consider when they look for injury replacements, right or wrong. Culling through PS rosters is certainly cheaper. http://www.nfl.com/players/darrylblackstoc...ts?id=BLA327026 Note that with CIN and with AZ, he was active for most games.

I'd say none of them get canned. Least of all, Fisher. IMO, that would be as dumb as the previous axings of Schottenheimer (twice), and Wannstadt.

why the ravens suck trois!
stuckincincy replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He looked fair to me...got walked back a time or two. BAL was flowing their line to the left to help him out, though. That let CIN's DL keep pressure on Flacco with little blitzing, pretty much taking away his long passes. He lined up at RT from time to time, also. On one play there, he left his feet and dove at an OL's knees. He landed on the guy's feet. A rookie mistake - I'm sure his coaches spoke to him about that. -
