  1. Add ex-CIN QB David Klinger to that list. He never had a chance. Thrown in as a rookie behind an OL that couldn't block a gimpy gnat, he got pounded to a pulp. Owner Brown turned down Ditka's offer of the entire NO 1999 draft for Ricky, to select Akili Smith (who but played 1 year at Oregon). Urban legend here has it that then-HC Bruce Coslet was...beyond...livid. He also got pounded silly, too - but he was a tough player who deserved a better fate. He lasted 17 games - and I smiled when he got cut and walked off with $4 million of Mikie's cash.
  2. If it is indeed a hoax, the tv networks might take a swipe at him - some eschewed their commercial time to keep with the story. I doubt is they would be successful against him, but they could squeeze his wallet hard to defend himself, I suppose.
  3. I had a (very) passing interest years ago, intrigued by a statement I read... "very few properties actually sell for their tax liability value." The deal was that you would purchase the liens from municipalities etc. at a good discount, then threaten the owner with foreclosure unless they paid up. IIRC, the thing I read about was for properties in FLA. But what are the potential liabilities...what if you took possession? Had to pay costs associated with a foreclosure? Ended up with a public nusiance property, an environmental nightmare? This was before the internet, and I wasn't willing to put in the time to investigate such.
  4. Would that be in those times between your several system crashes?
  5. I deny them, with very few exemptions that I specifically allow. If a site demands them, I just do without. Don't you think that the State collecting tracking information about your internet usage is a chilling thought?
  6. The CNN videos want me to enable cookies. Just like this Administration. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...9081002743.html
  7. You might be thinking of 2007, and QB Ben Mauk. He was an authentic football maniac...great fun to watch - he tossed 31 tds in '07. he'd turn down a sure 15, 20 yard pass if he though he could nail a longer one, all the time. And ran around like a chicken with a bucket of boiling water flung at its' fanny. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Mauk
  8. "New York, I Love You - that looks like it might be good. Seems to be along the lines of 1971's "Plaza Suite", and more recently, "Love, Actually". "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" is one I'd like to see, too. I like the cast, especially Arkin. "Where the Wild Things Are" - report back!!!! Oh - click on this. Trust me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUMwu_gXK7Q
  9. Has it opened yet? I didn't see in tn the listings here yet.
  10. Thanks! BTW, I saw "The Brothers Bloom" on PPV this past weekend. Good flick.
  11. MY T-W guide for Versus shows "World Extreme Cagefighting"...must be some minor leaque hockey - they still can fight.
  12. I don't know who that is...
  13. Somebody on the radio opined that the kid might have accidentally released it, then ran away and hid. Another said that there wouldn't be enough helium in that contraption to heft the weight of a six year-old.
  14. In 1992, Barns & Noble reprinted the US Army Survival Manual FM 21-76. A very nice book - wild plants for food, shelters, fire building, wildlife, directional finding, desert, tropical, sea and arctic survival and many other topics. Photos of poisonous snakes and plants and edible plants, how to read the clouds. Useful and interesting to read. It's about 10 bucks. ISBN 1-5661-9022-3
  15. He co-starred with Laurel.
  16. Fiddlesticks!
  17. It would be a sight to see... Here's a link about the (in)famous 10-cent beer night the Cleveland Indians held in 1974: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Cent_Beer_Night Another fun-filled promotion was in 1979 at Comiskey Park - the Disco Demolition Night: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night
  18. See my pre-season posts...
  19. I agree.
  20. Yup. The birds are coming home and roosting all over. The indoctrination worked.
  21. It would have to be an irresistible offer to Mikie. Ocho Dinko is reborn after his two years of sulking with short-arming and route running faux pas. He realized that a) He was going broke. He has 4 kids spread among 3 baby mommas and he agreed to pay heavily...he didn't ignore his obligations. He's never been a civil problem. Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't caberet at the clubs. b) The owner was willing to let him rot on the inactive list before he would trade him and take the cap hit. Dinko has a lot of big money game performance clauses in his contract. And his endorsement ad contracts dried up.
  22. Thanks - folks like Wooden come along now and then, to our betterment.
  23. Huh? I've heard a lot about it. Pregnant women are a media darling.
  24. Who knows? Perhaps this player was going to have a $$$ contract clause kick in. I've seen improbable cuts occur because of that. I know zero about SD. Perhaps they have a current bench player they think can perform as well or better. Dunno.
  25. The Bills have systemic maladies. Seymour would be but a (high-priced) patch. One finger stuck into a dam with numerous leaks...
