  1. The dialogue was superb. And the BBC arch idiot that cancelled "Mulberry" before its' conclusion has a lot to answer for...
  2. Dorothy Sayer's character - Lord Peter Wimsey - nicknamed his big, fast Daimler "Mrs. Merdle"...
  3. They doubled up on CIN LDE Geathers, and also used a back in addition now and then. That left LT Clifton and then his injury replacement going one-on-one most plays against RDE Odom, who got 5 sacks, and WLB Maualuga with one. Rodgers didn't play very well, either - his running around gave CIN plenty of time to get a bead on him. I'd peg the blame for at least 2 sacks on him.
  4. The DA, his juniors, of that county should not incarcerate, and should duck under the cover of a grand jury decision. That way, they can say that the people spoke, and work on and possibly avoid a settlement paying for the hours of yucks by government employees playing fun games on private property. Personally, I'd rapidly offer 2K cash money in an envelope to the alleged perps (and a bag of doughnuts or some such - never underestimate the salutary effect of doughnuts) in exchange for signing a quit claim document.
  5. If activated on game day. Union rules...the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many.
  6. Heh. Nice chunk of jingle bouncing around and around in the pocket of a 21-year old. Let's deflate that figure, NG...how would you and I act at age 21 with $1,000 cash money burning up our pockets?
  7. Close. My ancestors were believers, as I am (and I have read the words of the many posters who express a vehement intolerance of those that choose to believe in God) and they were a small part of the Underground Railroad. One of the many small destinations out there then, for folks with eyes up in the night, following the Drinkin' Gourd. Later years, the State kicked my family off their productive farm, kicked out those good folks that a century before opened their arms and took risk, using the eminent domain hammer (and taking away their livelihood) so they could construct a Psych facility in a certain well-known suburb. So much to think about. Perhaps someday I'll expound about this whole race thing.
  8. So do I. He's in for a rough go, though. There's likely some payback coming for Fewell's blitz calls and Mitchell's high shot to Leftwich's face. All teams get the films and players settle scores. IMO, Fewell's tossing the gloves off and directing the troops to bust Leftwich into pieces means that TE is fair game.
  9. Me a mutt, or SKOOBY?
  10. Mitchell, right? Anderson got a tidy bundle.
  11. I don't put much stock in long ball, physical tools and such. In the few times I watched Edwards play previously - eh. I got to see the 1st two games this season. My impression is that he's woken up and is beginning to grasp the concept of command, the force of will to direct an offense. He certainly bounced back from hard hits, confidence unshaken in Sunday's game against TB.
  12. His td catch was a thing of beauty. A textbook presentation about how to get position for a catch...
  13. Crop rotation was not known to much of a degree then. The fields were getting depleted, so new territory was sought - along with (generally) cheap labor to work the land. I reject your comment about a "mythos", implying that the moral rejection of slavery wasn't an issue in the minds of many. There was no dearth among the US population at the time, that held strong views in opposition. Hence the resistance to the westward expansion of slavery. Certainly, the European support was with their own pocketbooks in mind. That view is historical and is still in effect.
  14. Those pesky medical facts...we hates them...they must be suppressed...
  15. My flying monkeys have left the Wicked Witch's castle and are searching for you to avenge your so-called "fix"...
  16. Hope so. As well as checking out other clubs' PS rosters. Every team has a potential gem or two there, because of the 53-man roster restriction. Of course, if you sign one, he has to be on the active roster. But that's the same for FA signings thst you want to play. Speaking of roster, it seems like BUF dodged a potential bullet by keeping 2 RBs on the roster while awaiting Lynchs' return. I wonder who gets the cut come game #4, especially since they will carry Poz on the roster?
  17. Venereal disease rates far above the norm?
  18. And in 1877, the Democrats agreed to break the deadlock in the Presidential election between Hayes and Tilden, and approve Hayes as President in exchange for the end of Reconstrution and the removal of federal troops, which resulted in the Jim Crow Laws. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compromise_of_1877 The KKK was empowered in their activities directed towards Republicans and freedmen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ku_Klux_Klan 3...2...1...I give this post maybe 3 hours of life.
  19. I don't agree. He had a good season (that paid off - CLE got something like 4 prime-time games the following season), but he really fell off.
  20. Thanks...nice to see God's Gift* at #10.
