  1. Just curious, did you sweat off the Bills during their drought? That was 17 years. I get not following the team and stuff but then you don't really know the how and why about things happening. It's not meant as a ding. Just pointing out when you say they don't know what they are doing you are assuming a lot and you don't know the details.
  2. It's like this. When you are in a hole, do you sit there and say woe is me, or do you start climbing out? Most people only have a cursory knowledge of the Sabres: PLAYOFF DROUGHT! And from that they assume everything about the team is horrible. It isn't. They have good players. They have drafted well. They were 9th in the league in scoring. Their problem is much like the Bills last year; they are bad on defense and give up too many goals. So they are adding better D and players with grit this year. Now they did lose a scorer in JJ Peterka that they haven't fully replaced. The wild card is Josh Norris who they traded for last year. His rep is as a scorer but he's been injured a lot. Do you remember the Bills drought? This is the same thing. The Bills were never the worst, they were just bad enough. And one magical year, they caught a break and broke the drought. I'm hoping the same happens this year. But being miserable all the time just gives me an ulcer and doesn't have any impact on what happens on the ice.
  3. The Sabres did what the Bills did: they identified a problem on their defense/goaltending and put all their focus on it. They couldn't land any sexy name scorers but they got a lot better (and meaner) on defense. I've been saying the Sabres needed a Rob Ray on the team, and I think they are finally thinking that way, probably from Lindy Ruff's insistence.
  4. The hole is not at large as you think it is. But I'm not surprised that everyone has their panties in a wad. It's all you see and hear in the media. Going by 2024 numbers, Buffalo scored 269 goals which puts them 9th in league scoring. JJ scored 27 of those goals. If Buffalo gets 13 goals from all the new players added, that includes Norris, in 2025, they with have 257 goals, which would rank at #12 last year. That isn't a big drop. But now what is all the defensive improvements lower your goals against by 20 goals? Your +/- actually improves.
  5. They actually did a lot...on defense. Kind of like the Bills did. If you can't get more scoring, you get better at not giving up goals.
  6. Those knockoffs use the old Houston Oilers blue. I can spot them a mile away.
  7. I think a major gambling scandal is inevitable.
  8. I was at that game. What a turn of events.
  9. He looked pretty happy most of the time. I'm so glad a photographer managed to catch that expression so we can build an entire narrative about what he was feeling. Because it never gets old. Yeah, the Sabres didn't need a top 4 right shot D-man and a gritty third liner to replace the creampuffs on this team now.
  10. UFL delays college draft to early September - NBC Sports https://share.google/7OWuleYj8BeWjbZwS
  11. I was at the last Bandits final. I didn't bother to look. I was busy celebrating. That Athletics article never actually cited any instance of Terry doing something that hurt the team. It was basically: a) he's around the team a lot. b) unnamed sources say that isn't good. c) "hamster wheel."
  12. Terry is not much of a public speaker. But he might be in his box watching. Especially one who kept their favorite team from moving. Short memories.
  13. Proof? Your assuming the Sabres aren't making any more moves than the Peterka trade. Actually Terry spent like a drunk sailor when he first bought the team.
  14. How many owners have any clue about running their teams? Bob Kraft? How's he doing with the Pats now that Brady left? What you said is probably true about 80% of sports owners. Bottom line: The Bills are still the Buffalo Bills because of Terry & Kim Pegula.
  15. I find it slightly weird, and very on-brand for Buffalo, that Terry Pegula is hated for the Sabres more than he's given credit for how his other teams do. The Bills are awesome, the Bandits are a dynasty and the Amerks have deep playoff runs every season. Why do we always focus on the negative? Lol, it's probably a good thing he's only focused on the Sabres.
  16. Or just moving on from underperforming assets.
  17. I don't think it's as small as you think, but whatever. We won't agree.
  18. I have no doubt working remotely can work. Heck, I work remotely. But you have an anxious fan base and you have to think about the messages you send. Not having Jarmo at the presser was a misstep. Kevyn's whole demeanor was unsettling. Okay, you got me. It's totally possible that Black River Entertainment is a money loser. But based on the success of their lead artist, and the songs they own publishing for, the APPEARANCE is they are successful.
  19. I can only speak about record sales. Ever hear of Kelsea Ballerini? Her last album debuted #1 on the country charts. Also Black River Entertainment also holds publishing rights to 36 #1 chart songs. Keeping things factual is not defending anyone. Certain people have a problem with accuracy when it doesn't feed their narrative.
  20. Yes. That doesn't sound like he's "all in" to me First I've heard of this. I take you know people involved? One person I know who supposedly has some connections said most of the overruns were self-inflicted by Terry making changes and adding things last minute. Have your heard anything like that?
  21. That's the hope behind bringing in Jarmo Kekäläinen as an adviser. But I got a weird vibe from Kevyn Adams from the presser yesterday.
  22. For the record, that "silly" record label is actually successful.
  23. Unfortunately the Sabres are Terry's special plaything. He's in meetings and speaks with Adams daily. Is he just there absorbing info or is he injecting himself in the team management process? It's not clear. I kind of doubt it. He's not even looking at minority shares like with the Bills. And he is facing an expensive rehab of Key Bank Center in the near future.
  24. Mostly true. A deep-pocketed new owner might not blink at an $850 million penalty. It means that a significant number of Canadian fans don't want to risk a bad scene crossing the border. The 15-20% decline is verified. Keep in mind hockey isn't like football where games are once a week and usually played on Sunday. Hockey games happen on work nights. So you count on fans that live within 45 minutes to come out on a work night. If you're Canadian, do you want to risk getting hung up for hours, if not longer?
