It goes a long way, a coach has to be respected to get the most out of his players. And i accept your withdrawal. -

You have to start somewhere...Not all coaches begin their careers under hall of fame coaches. -

I believe Jauron will be a good head coach. He is a very smart and football savvy person. He got a raw deal in Chicago because of a new GM or he might still be coaching there. I really don't see why there is all this negativity towards him. The Bears players that played under DJ all liked him as a coach. I think Buffalo is in a good position with the choices down to Sherman or Jauron. -
I want someone with HC experience to be hired by the Bills, but I really like Payton. Are we even going to get a chance to interview him?

3 of 4 SB's does not make a dynasty!! If they maintain their playoff appearences for the next 4 or 5 years and win another SB title, then they may be considered a dynasty. As of now, it's a mini-dynasty at best. So all you former Giants fans who bought your Pats gear when they started winning can quit your bitching..... -
They couldn't get George Costanza to quit!!

I thought it was interesting when Ralph said that if your lucky enough to reach 80 you have nothing to gain by being dishonest and he is speaking the truth (I know its not the exact quote, but something like it). Does that mean that all the lies and deceit is gone after this season? will we know who has what injury? will we give up that 2% secret advantage? only time will tell, but we need to fill this coaching vacancy ASAP. I want a coach with some experience, no rookie!!

According to D&C, MM quit because of the

Rumor has it that MM booked airline tickets out of Buffalo, but in an attempt to fool everyone drove out of town. At least one of his trick plays worked!!! -
The Handling of Losman By The Bills Organization
ricojes replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't say that i wanted Aaron Brooks in camp next year, i said a veteran like Aaron Brooks. But AB has 120 pass TD's and 13 rushing TD's in his career, but he does have 84 int's. on the other hand KH has 37 pass TD's and 1 rush TD with 37 INT's. so YES i want another veteran QB in camp, but it doesn't have to be AB. -

I agree, I think JP will come back strong next year. The Bills really need to strengthen the defense and take the pressure off the offense. Against SD and Oakland the offense could have put up 40 and still lose. Plus we still need to build up the O-line. I hope Marv knew what he was getting into, this is not an overnight fix!!! -

Open competition in training camp is the only way to go. But bring in another veteren QB that mayl be released this off season, someone like Aaron Brooks. JP needs more competition than Mr. 500, Kelly Holcomb. -
I Am Sick Of Hearing That GW Was A
ricojes replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
why worry? if GW becomes a great HC, good for him. That doesn't mean that he was anything but lousy with Buffalo. Not many first time coaches excel and it becomes more of a learning experience. And working under Gibbs will only help his coaching career. So not worries, the Bills had no choice to fire GW for being a bad coach. Doesn't mean they dropped the ball if he evolves into a great HC someday. -

How soon we forget...GW was an awefull HC, simply out of his element. He is a great DC, but that's it. -
The TBD'ers need Maxie, we keep losing personnel in which we can make fun of their names.... Bledsloe Donablow Who's next....TBD'ers would have to grow up without Maxie.

Sounds like New England's philosophy. High Character smart players. Damn I wasn't sold on Marv as GM at first, but he's winning me over.

I hope I'm half as sharp as Marv is if I reach 80. This guys great. Great to see Marv back.

Here are some questions posted to Chris Mortensen this morning on ESPN: Brandon (Buffalo) Would the Bills be better off starting fresh by firing Mularkey and replace him with one of the recently fired head coaches with more experience? Donahoe is only part of the problem... CHRIS MORTENSEN I didn't think Donohoe was any of the problem and I think Mularkey should only be removed if there is a strong philosophcal difference. If I were a Bills fan, I'd be alarmed by the developments. I really would. Jeff (Flint, MI) Don't you think that Donahoe was at least part of the problem in Buffalo? He took a lot of needless risks on draft day, such as McGahee and Loseman, and let valuable players leave that could have helped them win now, such as Bledsoe and Pat Williams. I'm not saying that I could do any better, but what positives did he bring during his tenure in Buffalo? CHRIS MORTENSEN Again, I don't have the time to cover all of it. But Donohoe cleaned up a huge salary cap mess he inherited. He also inherited a terrible QB problem...and Bledsoe was the right bridge until they drafted a young guy. The Bills - and Ralph Wilson concurred - saw Bledsoe has a QB capable of being a 9-7 = now I hear Parcells is concerned about the same thing. Losman has the talent but the Bills counted on their No. 2 ranked defense to help them through. Pat Williams was a financial decision - they offered him a lot of money. He wangted more. They had key injuries on defense. I said this before - sometimes it just ain't your year. By the way, the McGahee pick turned out to be a pretty good one.

First of all it's a little scary that you know the full name!! But I think Carl Mauch would play a great Blache. Second, what the heck is with all the Churchill quotes!! He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire. Third, Marv should be pretty good in a team president role. He is 77, but his mind is still sharp and he knows football. Fourth, unfortunately this is what place the Bills will finish in 2006....

A Friend of my Uncle's neighbor knows a guy who shovels the snow out of the stands at the Ralph and he heard.....Next Bills Head Coach...Jim Haslett....
-
Actually we would still be having the discussion. I (unfortunately) have many Pittsburgh fans as friends and even when they were winning and going to the playoffs the play calling drove them nuts. The first thing they said after MM got the job, is that he will make you scratch your head over play calling more often than not. But I do agree 100% with you about pounding Willis, I was looking forward to that all off season. I hate all this gimmick play crap, which is my main concern with the coaching staff.
-
Now that the obvious has been stated by Kelly, everyone is a great Monday morning coach....The point about the play calling that I am trying to make is that MM's calls are 90% trickery in critical downs, when the game is on the line. Earlier in the year MM went for a 4th down on the Bills 40 yard line (I believe it was at NE) and the Bills made it. It was a horrible call!!! It was very early in the game and an unnecessary risk. Anyone can sit back and say when a play works its great and when it doesn't it's a bad call, but that's not the point I am trying to make. MM calls are very questionable at best, whether they work or not...
-
Ed Kilgore is losing it...I think he's forgetting all the idiotic calls that MM master minded: 4th and Goal against the Raiders...hand off to Damian Shelton...His thinking is he thought he could fool them... 4th down at the end of the 1st NE game...uses EM as a decoy in the flat, even though he is having a tremendous day, and sends RP deep...His thinking is he thought he could fool them... 2 years ago he tried a QB sweep with DB....Guess what his thinking was!!! Those are just off the top of my head. So much for smash mouth power football. We need to fool our opponents to win. I honestly have seen enogh of this coaching staff. Maybe MM has some good qualities, but he is a long way from being a good coach. Dick Vermeil had a good comment on ESPN. They asked him what he has learned through his long coaching career, he said that you don't have to be involved in every single decision that goes on with your team. I think that makes sense, it's too much to keep track of everything going on with the offense, defense, ST, and personnel moves. MM puts in 18 hour days, for what!!! That's a little over kill, this is why you have assitant coaches, you need to trust them.

Never was a big Butler fan, but AJ Smith was a big loss. Marcellus Wiley played well for the Chargers leading to a big contract with Dallas (lol, he was a bust there) and what a luxury with Rivers. They have trade bait or they have time to work with and develop him, great pick.
