1. Now that the obvious has been stated by Kelly, everyone is a great Monday morning coach....The point about the play calling that I am trying to make is that MM's calls are 90% trickery in critical downs, when the game is on the line. Earlier in the year MM went for a 4th down on the Bills 40 yard line (I believe it was at NE) and the Bills made it. It was a horrible call!!! It was very early in the game and an unnecessary risk. Anyone can sit back and say when a play works its great and when it doesn't it's a bad call, but that's not the point I am trying to make. MM calls are very questionable at best, whether they work or not...
2. Ed Kilgore is losing it...I think he's forgetting all the idiotic calls that MM master minded: 4th and Goal against the Raiders...hand off to Damian Shelton...His thinking is he thought he could fool them... 4th down at the end of the 1st NE game...uses EM as a decoy in the flat, even though he is having a tremendous day, and sends RP deep...His thinking is he thought he could fool them... 2 years ago he tried a QB sweep with DB....Guess what his thinking was!!! Those are just off the top of my head. So much for smash mouth power football. We need to fool our opponents to win. I honestly have seen enogh of this coaching staff. Maybe MM has some good qualities, but he is a long way from being a good coach. Dick Vermeil had a good comment on ESPN. They asked him what he has learned through his long coaching career, he said that you don't have to be involved in every single decision that goes on with your team. I think that makes sense, it's too much to keep track of everything going on with the offense, defense, ST, and personnel moves. MM puts in 18 hour days, for what!!! That's a little over kill, this is why you have assitant coaches, you need to trust them.
3. Never was a big Butler fan, but AJ Smith was a big loss. Marcellus Wiley played well for the Chargers leading to a big contract with Dallas (lol, he was a bust there) and what a luxury with Rivers. They have trade bait or they have time to work with and develop him, great pick.
4. 510877 That's about the same year the Bills last made the playoffs... 510877 Please do....
5. The bottom line is there's not much difference between MW and BM, they occasionally have a good game (or half) but they are few and far between. Plus, BM was a hold out for most of his first season. The big thing here is that the Bills don't bounce back from a bad draft. The Chargers drafted Ryan Freakin Leaf and became contenders a few years later. The Bills are going backwards, I don't see this team being competetive for a few more years (if were lucky). We are in sad shape with aging and slow safeties, a cornerback we will lose to free agency, a DT that only wants to play a few plays a game (and will be gone after this year), a pathetic O-Line, no depth at WR, a developing QB (if they keep him in), poor scouting ever since Butler and Smith left, and horrific play calling and coaching. I could go on and on...................
6. Ok, let's have an adult discussion about this. No cute little "Donablow" or "Loss Man" references. First of all, the play calling is atrocious! Couple that with the fact that our line sucks and you see what happens. But in all honesty, our offense would have had to score 49 points to win that game. Where is the D? We made Bree's look like an all star. He under threw several passes, but didn't matter because our corners were no where near the play. And with our corners playing 10 yards off the ball, he just dumped the ball off for 2 yards and his receivers ran for 10+ more. I would expect our defensive coordinates could have made some adjustments, but they played off the whole game. Please Jerry Grey, get that head coaching position. No one wants you to get it more than me, I just don't buy into your system. Buffalo dropped the ball by letting Dick Lebeau go, he was 10 times the coordinator that Grey will ever be. This team is getting worse every year. I think it's time to pay some $$ for a head coach that isn't learning on the fly. What an embarrassment.................
7. They must really be morons at WGR if they counted the Eagles as a sure win. They have only been in the NFC championship game the last 5 years!!! Getting to the Bills game, yes I am worried. We never play well in Oakland and this is a must win. There is no way we can go to NE at 3-4......
8. Yes, exactly. And similar points were mentioned previously in this post, yet some people don't get it. The defense dictates your offense, you just can't run for the sake of running.
9. That's exactly it. The defenses can't just stack the line continuously against KH, because he'll check to a quick slant (just like the Lee Evans against Miami play) and burn them. There's a whole different thought process with a veteran QB. With a rook (or 1st year starter) they challenge that QB to beat you by stacking the line. Hence, less first downs and less touched for Willis. They had to throw with JP, it was the only way to open up the run game....
10. He said on Monday that he didn't see a difference between Holcomb's play Sunday and JP's previous starts........Here's your sign!!!!
11. I agree with your point on the coaching, it has been horrible to this point. I am scratching my head every other play!! For example, against the texans willis busts back to back 10+ yard runs and the next plays a double reverse....against the Aint's Willis busts a 25 yard run and the next plays a faile flee-flicker....the paly calling and coaching leave little to be desired. But i don't know how you can blame Moulds for anything, you can see from last week that this guy is an under used and underappreciated weapon.
12. Ok, final last reply.....I said that the coaching staff though that JP could manage a game as good as or better that KH. And add JP's running skills to the equation and they did think JP gave the Bills a better chance of winning. I am not reneging on my original statement....
13. Last point on this topic....The Bills staff felt that JP could manage a game the same way the KH did this past week. KH was a modest 20-26 for 126, not staggering numbers. But that's what the staff expected from JP!!! But come to find out that JP isn't as accurate at this point of his career, so let's put KH in there and show JP how to manage a game. I don't know how Ganie and Kelly & dog can even argue this point, it's a fact. The staff may not have felt they had a better chance of winning with JP to start the season, but I am sure they at least thought JP could manage a game as efficient as KH. And there you have it, another debate ended with a buzzer beating win..................later.....
14. Seriously, i think their arrogants got the best of them. In their mind there was no differense between JP and KH, they could just manage a game and skate to victory with "the best defense ever." Now that the D has been knocked down a few notches and JP isn't efficient, they have to go with a QB that can put more points on the board. Hence, the switch.....
15. I don't buy that....How can you go into a game knowing that your not giving your team the best chance to win? I would say that this coaching staff is arrogant and they think they can do anything with anyone. But i gaurantee you if they thought they had a better chance to win with KH, he would have been in there.
16. Not quite sure what Billschitt is, but it doesn't sound good. They made the move because KH gives us the best chance to win...period...bottom line...I don't think coaches would put their careers and reputations on the line to go with a team that they feel doesn't give them the best chance to win!!! Now that's bullsqwitch or whatever the heck you call it.....
17. Who said anything about winning a playoff game? Do the Bills have a better chance of making the playoffs with Holcomb or Losman? I say Holcomb....that's it...bottom line....read the print son....
18. I didn't say they were a great team, but Holcomb does indeed increase out chances of making the playoffs.
19. I have to disagree, with JP we lose the game. It's all defensive game planning. You cuoldn't do as much defensively against Holcomb as you could with JP. Holcomb checked out of some plays and read the blitz nicely. JP just doesn't have the experience to do that yet.
20. The switch was made because 75 yards per game doesn't cut it in the NFL. Holcomb was our best chance at winning this week and the rest of the season for that matter. When and if the Bills are officially eliminated from the playoffs, we'll see JP. He's just too green at this point and this is not a horrible team. It's not like the Bills are SF and switch to Alex Smith because they know that there's no chance at the playoffs. This team has an outside chance make the playoffs with Holcomb, they have no chance with JP.
21. Why isn't Tom Clement getting any abuse on this site? Has he ever heard of a screen pass? In game one Willis tears off back to back 10+ yard carries and the next plays a double reverse, huh? DB has talent and is doing well in Dallas, but would not fair well in this offense. Who would? The offense is terribly predictable and easy to defense. NO's defense is not good, but when you know what's coming it's not hard. Look for the Aint's D to look like all stars unfortunately, but I still believe we can win this game.
22. Homeless or not, their still making millions. Hard to feel sorry for them when their about the people from NO's getting paid.
23. We'll be dealing with the ups and downs all year. Look at game film of Eli Manning last year and compare it to last night. I am sure there were more than a few Giant fans bashing Eli as you are bashing JP last year. Don't buy the money aspenct though, there's a salary cap and were right near the limit. So that comment is very accurate.
