If you haven't left Jackson behind by now, I was a fan of The Bird. Really good wings & burgers, Bills gear welcome, our server was originally from Rochester last time out.

I really want to say a lot of that had to do with Kromer. Coming from the Rams, he has intimate knowledge of what Aaron Donald does to wreck plays. It seemed on a lot of snaps, Donald didn't quite realize what was going on, or bit on a false key that made him take himself out of the play (like the Davis TD, Donald following the pulling lineman to the offensive left). The way to prevent Donald from wrecking your play, is by making it so he doesn't know what to do to wreck your play, because if he knows, he's doing it. The one attribute Donald doesn't really have, is height. He's a squatty body, a ball of butcher knives, but the Bills have been stacking skyscrapers on the offensive line. I think Kromer used that in combination with some unconventional scheming to make Donald pause just a beat to try to decipher what was happening. Some plays went right past Donald without him even realizing - that second run play Orlovsky dissected above, Brown I think just engages Donald and doesn't really even especially block him hard, he just doesn't let him see what's happening while Gilliam and Singletary rumble right by him, almost within arms reach. I saw that on the replay and was like, what the hell happened there, how does Donald let that go right by him? Edit: Keying in on Donald it looks like he's playing 5T and Brown blocks him from an inside leverage which denies his vision as the motion TE Sweeney, then Gilliam, then the RB all just scoot right past and it's like Aaron has no idea the play is happening on his gap, he's completely eliminated on a 1-on-1 block from Brown. Now I like Brown, don't get me wrong, but I've got to credit the blocking scheme there for some of that.

The Bills successfully game planned for Henry, what killed them was that guy on the Eagles now with the deep overs when they stacked the box.

I don't blame Seattle for walking away when the Browns GM asked for David Putney too. -

I was looking for this, it looked like Ramsey recognized the route combo from film study and dropped to where Diggs route was supposed to go, but Diggs just went 9 on his own, or Josh told him to try that. Josh makes a little hand motion “go” like he did with Knox vs Chiefs last year in the regular season. Next level, to use your own tendencies as a weapon against the opponent. I’ll give Ramsey credit on his closing speed, he almost made up the 10 yards he got roasted by.

Gilliam was beating Bobby Wagner to a fruit juicy pulp. In response, Wagner saw Gilliam crossing the formation left to right on a pass that went to the left on a drag behind Gilliam, and he just decided to level Reggie who was neither looking nor expecting to be hit. In other words, a cheap-shot. I was surprised it got absolutely zero mentions, it was a dirty, frustration-motivated play. You saw McD lay into the ref standing there when he came to check on Reggie; that was why. Gilliam was stunned but did return.

How confident are you going into tonight's game?

I really thought McVay would have an answer, but when the opposing front four is that dominant it's just damn tough to scheme anything. Like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. -
Josh Allen joins Jordan Palmer’s podcast “The Room”

I don't think you can safely say that with last year's DL. By the middle of the second quarter last night Stafford's eyes were starting to drop, looking at the pressure rather than keeping focus downfield. I don't think that happens with the 2021 DL. -
Benford's floor appears to be Levi Wallace. I'm fine with the game he had last night, as a first (surprise) start. The position didn't downgrade but you've got a rookie contract now, and have upside.

Jordan Phillips is the best DT on this team.

Von Miller is still the straw that stirred the drink yesterday. There was one play where it seemed like the whole Rams OL went to their right to contain Von on a wide rush, while every other Bills DL arrived immediately on top of Stafford. And two of their left-side OL were very slow to get up. This is looking like a smash-mouth bully DL like the Bucs rode to the title two years ago, just relentless, physical, and attacking in waves. It's really what's been missing to take the defense from one that can dominate bad teams to one that can dominate any game. -
We totally shouldn't have gone after Vernon Butler, but that was before the Bills became destination #1 in the NFL and they had to throw money at (former Panthers) to get them here. But yeah, he was a crap signing from the get-go, not as cumbersome as Lotulelei but still. Contrast to this year where both DayQuil and Settle were great gets. He was just taking Rousseau's line when Greg dropped back as the dime corner.

We totally should have let him and Shaq go for the dollars they got. Now they’re set for life and can just play to win.

That is one of the best Defensive Line performances from a Bills team against a team that isn't the Jets. The only reason the game was remotely close was 4 TOs from the offense. The Rams really scratched and clawed to move down the field and made a couple 3rd-effort 4th downs just to keep drives going. This game was marked by the DL imposing their will, and the OL at least getting a draw against Donald and allowing their QB to impose his will.

He started getting rattled in the 2nd quarter. He's got arm talent yeah, but he's not the dawg or leader of men. -

Stafford needs the play-calling that Dorsey has been giving Allen. He's under seige. -

Oh. Right. That's why the Bills don't run the ball with their backup RBs. -
