  1. i never read the thread of all threads - "I am a horrible person". can someone give it to me in a nutshell? ps - anyone know a good currency conversion site? pps - what is the best site for downloading movies?
  2. there is an ownership group being put together in Nigeria as we speak. I got an email about it yesterday.
  3. I wonder if he knows this leprechaun. (watch until you see the sketch...)
  4. don't bother, you probably won't be able to give them away.
  5. the difference between the weather in Buffalo and NYC is very big. Especially in the spring and fall - the extra month of fall and the extra month of spring on each side is huge.
  6. Biscuit - please, please, please do yourself a favor and get out of Buffalo for a few years. You will NEVER regret being young and spending some time in NY, Boston, San Diego, Chicago or another nice big city. You can always go back to Buffalo, but you can't always pick up and move and experience life somewhere else - which quite honestly is an experience that everyone should have but that many in Buffalo do not.
  7. yeah, it is very interesting what will happen. The super elite universities (ivies, stanfords etc) won't need to worry too much, but a lot of other schools will be opening up the doors to who can pay. Someone was telling me about Northeastern in boston and how the foreign students are such a huge part of their calculations - because all the foreign kids pay full boat. at the same time, a lot more parents are realizing spending $200k for a good but not incredible 4 year school is a waste of money if you don't have lots of extra $$$....
  8. the further out from college i get, the less the school means to me (on both sides - hiring and applying). but this still holds true - especially in finance (which you are probably referring to). My wife can't stand that her boss won't look at any resumes from state schools (where she went). The smartest kid at albany or geneseo or UB has zero chance of getting in the door in her department while the dumbest kid at Penn has a shot.
  9. no response?? this is why i send so much work overseas
  10. if you have a more detailed spec I can get you a pretty good idea. all of it sounds easy minus the online payment part - that can get tricky. I have a ukranian programmer who does most of my projects very quickly and cheaply.
  11. what are you good at? (computers, selling etc?) and why should I hire you.
  12. i pretty much never listen to the political spinsters on tv or radio. one thing i do like about o'reilly (i hate typing those words) is that he doesn't toe the line. he's pro choice, anti death penalty, took bush to task for coddling the saudi's etc.
  13. When i was about 17 i was driving on the 400 daydreaming in the left lane and going about 75. Somehow I didn't notice that ahead of me was a big huge service truck (with the flashing caution sign on the back) doing about 10mph painting lanes or something. When i finally realized it I swerved and missed it - but was maybe 30 feet away. Can't imagine that a honda civic into the back of a big county truck would have ended well.
  14. they have metal forks in first class, so the ban isn't on forks...
  15. I updated my post. It appears that next to no minority babies are even put up for adoption. And as you can tell from watching couples on the street, they are going overseas to adopt. Now I'm sure there are some disabled kids here that go unadopted, but the total amount seems very low. I'm not arguing abortion as good or bad (my opinions might surprise you) - I was just correcting what seemed to be a common misconception of the "what about all those unwanted kids"...
  16. that's a great argument - seriously, great argument. out of curiosity - how many unwanted babies go unadopted in the US each year? (serious question). I can't imagine the number is terribly high, but could be wrong. EDIT - Did some research and it looks like there are VERY few kids in the US put up for adoption at all. I'm guessing that no matter the race - there is far more demand than supply for adoptive babies in the US (which is not surprising). Almost no unmarried black women put their babies up for adoption, while 1.7 % of unmarried white women put their babies up for adoption. interesting stuff. http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/s_place.cfm
  17. didn't see the game, but feel bad for Cornell. Reminds me of Miami of Ohio blowing their championship in the last seconds as well....
  18. WOW. Just wow. Do you really think that interest is the only way a credit card company makes money? Aren't you in the business world? How does someone in the business world not know what LA referenced above?
  19. Which is worse: The stupid young guy who fights and tortures pit bulls or The stupid young guy who beats his wife when he's drunk? just sayin....
  20. i love how their spokesman was a resident....
  21. The Finger Lakes wineries would LOVE to have the supermarkets sell their wine - they would do incredibly well. The wine distribution business is an absolute racket - and in most states is controlled by the liquor wholesalers who a) are absolute crooks and b) don't want anything that could possibly hurt their stranglehold on every bottle of wine or liquor that comes into a state. In tennessee last year there was a bill that would have loosened the restrictions of shipping wine from out of state. Some group was created and started lobbying against it, calling themselves something like "parents against kids with alcohol" or somethin stupid. They said that kids would suddenly by tons of wine online (yeah right) - turns out the group was entirely funded by the wholesalers...
  22. if you had to look up CMS, a CMS probably isn't for you Weebly is dead simple - i recommend it to anyone who just wants to get stuff up online.
  23. the real question is - what do you want to do with it? If it's just throw up 10 pages for whatever, using a CMS would be totally unnecessary. If you want to run a big website, then that is what you need. Wordpress is good for both blogs and websites, but if you want really simple and pretty decent looking - try www.weebly.com
  24. probably what they said about the cardinals and dolphins last year.
  25. that really sucks, sorry man. I can't imagine how that team feels right now - it's like the homerun throwback but twice as bad....
