  1. The 72-hr blackout rule has been in effect since 1973. Before that, all home games were blacked out, sell out or not. In the 80s, Bills' blackouts were the rule rather than the exception. Bills' fans can't have it both ways. They can't boast of their support for the team in the face of declining population and then whine about how the stadium is too big to sell out. Waiving the blackout rule for the first month or so of the season would be a good PR move for the league if the lockout spills over into August and beyond.
  2. He can take a shot at the Bills, okay. However, it sounds like he has no idea how long a football field really is. He keeps saying the field is 80 yds long, 20 yds shorter than needed. Last time I checked, football fields are 120 yds long. Any sports writer worth a bucket of warm spit should know that. 'Nuff said.
  3. It's funny, because Jauron played DB, and drafted many DBs when he was coach here. Good show, sir!
  4. Jones was active for the entire season last year; he is not eligible for the PS.
  5. Players who have an accrued season of NFL experience (6 or more games on the active roster) are not eligible for the PS. However, players who have fewer than 9 active games in their only accrued season are still eligible. Naaman was active for 6 games last year, giving him an accrued season. Because all of those games happened in the same season (2010), and his active games were fewer than 9, he would still be eligible for the PS this year. If he is active for one more game, he would no longer be eligible for the PS with any team. Players can be on a PS no more than 3 seasons.
  6. Any question how great Walter Payton was? He's only 167 yards behind Allen, with 10 fewer starts and 57 fewer games played. His yards per rush after age 30 is 4.35; his career average is 4.36.
  7. Typically, yes. Officially, no. And usually only involving teams playing on Thanksgiving. The Bills are getting rid of the red helmets; they won't be trotting them out as a so-called throwback to the 90s anytime soon. Teams are allowed only one alternate uniform/helmet. The standing buffalo helmet will most likely remain the Bills' alternate.
  8. In a season where they are unveiling a full-blown overhaul of their unis, I doubt the Bills would also come out with any kind of alternate.
  9. You might want to wait until they actually unveil the new unis to call them butt ugly. From the leaks we've seen, aside from the charging bison on the helmet, they do closely resemble the throwbacks, with reportedly some navy trim thrown in.
  10. Lyondon and Toranto be damned! I just want my team to stay in Bufallo!
  11. Caroline Panthers a darkhouse? Kids say the darnedest things.
  12. I think you picked the wrong Super Bowl. The final score of 27 was 52-17. Kelly got knocked out in the 2nd quarter with the score 14-7. Reich led the Bills to a field goal to make the score 14-10, and then the wheels came off, with Frank throwing 2 picks and fumbling 3 times. You ask would we have won with Frank. Of course, we know the answer. No.
  13. If Ralph did sell 30%, wouldn't that be made public?
  14. None of which has to do with your original statement that all Buffalo fans "want everything and when we get it we complain that it wasn't gift wrapped." Yes, I know there are segments of Buffalo fans, for the Sabres and the Bills, that are never satisfied. Still, it shouldn't be characterized as an exclusively Buffalo thing, nor does it apply to all of us.
  15. Your statement was "It's the ugly side of being from Buffalo. We want everything and when we get it we complain that it wasn't gift wrapped." Are you really saying that a couple of chuckleheads on a message board speak for all of us? Is this the same way that "we" run coaches out of town?
  16. Complaining about ticket price hikes is not a uniquely Buffalo thing. Don't make it out to be so. Three people made a negative comment out of nine total. Hardly indicative of a community.
  17. It's my understanding he can do this. One of the local TV stations interviewed an attorney a few years ago on this subject, and he said Ralph can put stipulations in his will favoring local buyers. If you are a lawyer, please enlighten us. I am not, and I suspect you aren't either.
  18. There are frequent posters here who couldn't spell "Jauron" right after 4 years.
  19. Promising, yes. Very good? Remains to be seen.
  20. These appear to be the real deal. The creator of the wikipedia uniform page got an advance copy of the new design months ago and put it on his page. When someone on another message board discovered them, he said these were not necessarily the new unis. Now that Madden has let the cat out of the bag, he has admitted that these are indeed the new unis. wikipedia uniform page
  21. Wikipedia has a better look at the uniform template. There is the "Bills" wordmark under the NFL shield, and the facemasks are gray. Click on the image at the link and the facemasks become gray. I would have preferred blue facemasks, but overall this is a return to uniform greatness. wikipedia uniform page
  22. So pick players that you know are going to be in the Hall of Fame? Got it.
  23. "These new Bills uniforms are clearly modeled after the later Simpson-era design, including the white helmet, but they’ve been updated to include a tiny amount of navy blue trim." uni-watch The jerseys will be the same color as the charging bison logo- royal blue.
