Agreed. However, even if you agree with the other description of the play, the criticism of Lewis is totally over the top. Arguably the greatest WR of this generation made an incredible play that most couldn't have. There's no shame in getting beat like that and it's certainly not a reason to be all over a UDFA as if he's a failure who is a giant liability. Lewis has been a solid contributor for a couple years now. They seem to have found his niche this year and he's really been excelling.

The MVP Race is 3 Players & Why they Can Win
DrMaxPower replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unless things really change, Josh doesn't have a realistic chance. Lamar is playing lights out and running away with it. The antithesis of last year. Lamar/Baltimore would need to hit the skids and Josh would have to crank up the production. I just don't see it. -
Potential Christian Benford Extension Framework
DrMaxPower replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
The physicality more than makes up for any supposed lack of athleticism. He's a dog. Nobody is going to treat him like a punk. That attitude/confidence can spread through the defence. I think the plan has always to pay 1 corner and rotate the other. Benford will get his well deserved bag. -
Is this the best team in the Allen era?
DrMaxPower replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. They are solid but too much inexperience, too much dead cap space. This is one of the weakest squads we've had since Josh 'arrived'. It's been a successful reset/reload so far to be sure. They are still one of the better teams despite the big roster purge. I'd have trouble putting them higher than 3rd in the AFC at best though. Doesn't mean they can't get it done this year. Stranger things have happened. I have higher expectations for '25 and '26 though. -
Ask a San Diego fan if firing Marty (who accomplished less than McD in the playoffs) was a mistake. Pretty sure Packers fans aren't clamoring to dump La Fleur.

Cover 1- Why And How Miami Gashed The Bills In The Run Game
DrMaxPower replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
They don't have Hill and Waddle. I would hope the plan VS the Ravens would alter next game, pending injuries. Chiefs are too well balanced; stick to the plan against them. -
I don't really disagree but I also don't think that's mutually exclusive from my statement. QBs without a village fail. They don't put the village on their back and carry them to success. It's half the reason you see the Darnolds and Geno Smiths of the world.

I've seen enough of your essays previously. You can save the time and 500 words. I still don't even think we are that great this year. It's a reload with 1/3 of our cap chewed up on dead space. I'd probably have us 3rd or 4th in the AFC right now. I expect the '25 and '26 Bills to be better. I'll still hope for the best on any given Sunday and I'll still think firing McDermott is foolish.

Coaches fail at about the rate of a 6th round pick. I'm not going to throw away a pro bowler because he hasn't been all-pro yet. Odds are the next guy isn't as good.

Cover 1- Why And How Miami Gashed The Bills In The Run Game
DrMaxPower replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
With Tua back and Waddle and Hill to deal with, I think it was a 'lesser of 2 evils' situation. History has proven that coaches rarely have the patience to stick to the run. That said, Daquan looks nothing like last year and it's really hurting us. -
Sounds hot.... Please do share haha

Not wanting to blow things up doesn't mean you don't want to win. That's a dichotomy that only exists in the minds of the anti-McD group. This all stems from the theory that; a) McDermott is below replacement level, with damn near any choice being equal or better and b) Josh is so good that almost nothing else matters. I disagree with both but I don't expect to convince you otherwise.
-
Who on earth is saying anything of the sort? There's a big gap between that and 'fire McDermott because he's so inept, the grass must be greener elsewhere'. We all want to win. Some don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater because it hasn't happened yet.
-
You'd be hard pressed to find a personel executive that would put Purdy's talent over Herbert's. Situation matters. A lot.
-
If you're not 1st, you're last amirite? Silly. They've got the 2nd best win percentage in sports over the last 5 years. All sports.
-
Allen is discussed plenty in the article. I personally believe this prevailing attitude that only the QB matters and everything else just falls into place is nonsense. It takes a village, even when you have a QB. Plenty of good quarterbacks have crappy years on bad teams. Chicken or the egg scenario.

Some people have trouble with the truth. Especially these days.

https://www.si.com/nfl/bills-bond-on-and-off-the-field-paying-dividends-afc-east Good article on the foundations that have allowed the Bills to reload instead of rebuild. I think sometimes we are too close to the situation to fully appreciate what we have. For as much as people want to crap on McD, he's one of the best in the league and we'd be hard pressed to replace him with somebody equal, let alone an improvement.

O'Cyrus Torrence.....He just hasn't taken that next step...
DrMaxPower replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree; he's been awful. We're just fortunate the poop didn't hit the fan sooner. I didn't think he was as good last year as many did but he wasn't a problem. He was steady with further development potential. This has been a big step backwards. He's a problem body who will always be high maintenance to maintain his conditioning. I think he was lazy this offseason and it's showing. Another game like last week and I'd be seriously considering inserting Anderson. Either at guard or at center and bump McGovern over. -

Anyone who thinks Edwards has been a problem has no idea what they are looking at. Period. -
9/29/2024 Bills @ Ravens post game thread
DrMaxPower replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
My week just got a lot more productive. I think after this post I won't be opening TBD until after next game. The bipolar nature of a huge chunk of the fan base and the overreaction to this nightmare will make this place miserable. A few thoughts; - they weren't ready to play. I think people vastly underestimate the mental side of the game and things like desperation and 'needing' to win, especially by good teams. Baltimore needed this game. They were at home and juiced up big time. We were fat and happy. Overconfident and not as hungry. The Henry run sucked any mojo they had right out of them. Fans always go 'well they're pros. they should always play hard'. That's just not the reality of how things work. Nobody brings their A game every week. Every team has an F game once in a while. Even great teams. -Baltimore is always a bad matchup for us. It's like a team playing Army. You won't run into another team with this style all year and they are the exact opposite of what our D is built to stop - We are seeing the impacts of the entire LB group being backups. I'm including Taron in the group. Not only are they all in the same position, they are 3 of the best players on the defence -It was all ugly but they got punked on the line of scrimmage. It doesn't matter what anyone else does when the lines are that bad. I'd bench Torrence yesterday. He's killing us. -Calls to fire people are brainless. Get real. The reality is that this team is likely what most of us though in the offseason. A competitive reload but not a top shelf team. Too much turnover, too much dead cap space. I still expect them to make the playoffs. They could get hot, any given Sunday, as they say. We're neither as good as we looked last week or as bad as we look today. Flush it and on to the next one. -
Might be smarter to turn off the forum for the next week. Going to be a cesspool.

Baltimore is the absolute worst team to be down your entire LB core against. This had trouble written all over it.
