Let's gooooooooooooooooooo, so glad I don't have to watch him in another uniform yet. -
I'm not really reading into it that hard because I know he's said multiple times he wants to be here, just some light speculation, or at least... I thought it was light speculation. I've said it and I'll say it again, I want him to stay a Buffalo Bill, and I think he should've already gotten paid. I just like playing with what ifs when the only thing you can do is wait and see.

I don't doubt for a second that him sitting out isn't eating at him, like you said, someone else will gladly take that spot to show that they can do it. I do, in the end, think all of it is about the contract and not really anything else. It's just the timing and suddenness of being on board to then holding in/out is a bit odd to me when you start to consider the potential trades that have or have not become available. If we really want to get tin foily, maybe Beane told him sign or get traded and he's calling the bluff or something. But that is far to fantastical for what is actually probably going on which is just a simple contract scuffle. Though again, the timing is very odd to me but I'm neither him nor his agent.

I don't think I've ever heard a player actively sit in and call it business just because they don't want to get hurt. It's football, for better or worse injuries will happen. Also this body language doesn't scream "I wanna be here". It, to me, says "I'm only here so I don't get fined." and has nothing to do with injury.

That was my initial thought as well. I don't understand the reasoning of going through camp, saying you're here to work, then just... Not. The only reason I can think is he either got lowballed so bad that he feels slighted or that they informed him/his agent that he's getting traded. Now I'm on team pay the man so I don't really want to see him traded, but he's likely one of the only few players they have that could be part of a big trade instead of giving up multiple 1st round picks.

He updated that real quick.

Big oof for Mitchy Bisky, haven't seen why but it does seem to line up with other camp days.

Man, I am so glad Tre White is back, I've missed having his personality in the back field. -

It really says something when even the players in the league don't want themselves or anyone they know to sit through another chiefs superbowl. -
Man I would really enjoy shooting up to pick around 11, I don't think it would be worth it exactly but it would be fun to get a shot at a higher talent guy instead of hoping one falls to where the Bills pick.

How dare you tease these rumor starved boys with such a tasty morsel. How could they have resisted!?

Matthew Smiley out as Special Teams coach
GuardianAngel replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is and it isn't, at least to me. For me there are three possible reasons as to why he said Smiley would retain his job and then fire him a week later. Reason 1.) It was coach speak. This staff has always been tight lipped about the internal going ons so there is no way that Mcdermott would say anything other than an affirming or incredibly vague answer. And he gave both a strangely vague answer and a pretty hard affirmative which to me falls in line with what he says/does. Very much par for the course with McD and how he goes about things. This seems the most likely to me. Reason 2.) McD was in on keeping Smiley but the rest of the staff/leadership wasn't. I don't know who exactly has the power over coaching hires, whether that's McD or Beane or both, but even if they didn't have control over the hires they might have enough of a voice to push McD's hand about it. This seems unlikely as I believe it would add unnecessary friction. Reason 3.) This is my personal headcannon. McD said "...I'm confident that Coach Smiley is going to learn from those situations and plays that came up this year."... What if in his post season autopsies he gets to Smiley and he clearly hasn't learned any lessons? McD just said he was confident in you to learn from your mistakes and here you are, continuing to make them? Begone!... Totally unlikely to have happened but it'd be funny. -
Any Ray Davis injury (concussion) updates?

If he's limited today he'll probably be ready for Sunday.
