  1. True, but whatever they were doing at the beginning of the year, their offense wasn't all on the same page with Henry. He didn't do much of anything against us when we played then. I kinda cringe thinking about playing him now.
  2. Disagree completely. Extra DBs will never be a substitution for filling gaps and holes, which is what Lineman and LBs are trained to do at the point of attack. That's just a plain and simple fact. If you're getting ran on play after play and you refuse to bring in an extra lineman or backer, you're going to have a long day. And the formations and personnel packages the Jets had in the game today, especially in the second half, they screamed run and late in the game they ran the ball almost exclusively with no adjustment by Frazier on Defense. We were playing Zach Wilson, not Patrick Mahomes.
  3. If we played the Titans now rather than when we did, I would wager the outcome would be very different.
  4. The thing Frazier doesn't seem to understand though is there's a huge difference playing Nickel when your offense has given you a sizeable lead than playing Nickel in a close game like today. In other games where the opposition was playing from behind, they typically abandon the run obviously for clock reasons. Last week, GB was behind 3 scores, but said screw it, we're running anyway and they were gashing our Nickel D. The Jets copied that today in a close game where they didn't have to abandon the run and we see what happened. If Frazier cannot adjust, we will keep seeing this unfortunately.
  5. You're exactly right though. Sticking to the Nickel when the formation says run (and the Jets were running some big sets today) you are going to expose your DB's to have to engage lineman more often, which generally isn't a matchup you want to see. Thus is Frazier though. No adjustments even when they are almost exclusively running the ball later in the game. Having an extra LB in there rather than a smaller DB can make all the difference in the world when it comes to run defense. Tell me why you would be playing a defensive scheme (nickel), which is designed to stop the pass, when the opposing offense has committed to running the ball and is pushing you down the field and the opposing QB is Zach Wilson? Is Frazier really that scared of him?
  6. I would argue our Defense was in worse shape personnel wise when we beat KC. I blame the D coaching for what we saw today on that side of the ball. They were almost exclusively running the ball late. What is he supposed to do? The Jets were committed to the run and Frazier was committed to the Nickel. Not a good matchup.
  7. Somebody needs to explain to me what it is about the Jets offense that would have you in Nickel in the first place. No responses to that question yet.
  8. Yeah, definitely no excuse for that especially in that situation.
  9. They try to run it, but when they have couple plays that don't gain much, it's like Dorsey says the heck with it. We have the offensive talent that we don't need to run if they choose not to, but when Josh is off, like he clearly was today, we are going to struggle.
  10. I would disagree. How many seasons did we seen the Bills get off to a great start, only to tank the rest of the way? I'm not saying that's going to happen to this team and I don't think it will because there's just too much talent, but I'm a believer that opponents study you and will mimic other teams where they have success against you. GB showed everyone that our Nickel Defense will struggle against the run. Didn't so much matter last week because we were up 3 scores, so we got away with letting GB chew their own clock. That same blueprint can be used against us in close games, like it was today. We have a Defensive Coordinator that apparently is more worried about the long ball even when his D is getting pushed up and down the field by an offense committed to the run and they even had a QB who's known to struggle against pressure. If other teams are adjusting to what we are doing, but we are not adjusting to what they are doing, that's probably not a good recipe for winning and gives me concerns going forward.
  11. It's not like the Jets weren't without several key guys themselves. I can only imagine how bad today might have looked if Hall was able to play. You play with what you've got. Our D was technically more banged up than it is now when we beat KC.
  12. To continue to play the pass when the defense is just ramming it right at you play after play just defies logic.
  13. Last week I can understand it better because we were up 3 scores, but it did expose its weakness pretty clearly. Today though, guarding against the deep ball when the offense really isn't even really trying to throw is just beyond any sound football coaching I've ever heard of before.
  14. But if the other team isn't passing, so what? You're going to stay with the defense that the offense just keeps pushing you down the field in? And it was Zach Wilson. Is Frazier really afraid of him?
  15. Yep, it's like Frazier has told himself that's our D and I'm sticking to it, no matter how bad they are getting pushed around.
  16. To me, that's all up to Frazier, but for some reason, he wants to defend against the pass always, even when the other team has committed to the run.
  17. Get out of the base nickel D for starters. You play the nickel to better defend against the pass. The last two weeks have made it crystal clear this D can get pushed around by offenses in bigger sets.
  18. No offense taken, but they are 1 loss away from being in 3rd place...not in the Conference, in the DIVISION. Again, not quite as rosy a picture. And the way they are playing right now, another loss isn't hard to imagine.
  19. If your Defensive Coordinator is going to keep you in Nickel all the time, I'm going to try and run on you too. They've gotten away with running Nickel because they're been playing with a lead and many of our opponents have abandoned the run.
  20. Still the #1 seed? They are 1/2 game up in the loss column against Miami and NY and they are both 2-1 in the division, while the Bills are 0-2. Not quite as rosy a picture as you are painting here.
  21. If the Defense is playing Nickel like they were, yes they do. Milano played last week when GB exposed our Nickel against the run. Frazier didn't adjust. If the other team is running on you, why are you playing a defensive scheme which is designed to be stronger against the pass? Are we really afraid of Zach Wilson?
  22. If the game is close, teams will not have to abandon the run like they do in the games where the Bills Offense has been putting up big points. That's been masking the weakness against the run using the Nickel and we could get away with it since teams were playing from behind. GB said screw it, we're running anyway and Jets did a copy/paste today since Frazier wants to stay in Nickel even though the offense is committed to running. I still have no idea why we needed to be in a nickel defense against an offense that was not really trying to establish a passing game #1 and #2 it was against Zach Wilson. You are seriously that concerned about Wilson you are willing to get gashed on the ground? What kind of thinking is this?
  23. What teams committed to the run and exposed it the way GB and the Jets did? Other teams didn't because the Bills had big leads and had to throw. GB was the first team that bothered, even though they were losing. If the Bills offense isn't making it easy for their defense, the Nickel is going to struggle because teams do not have to abandon the run to try and close the gap on the scoreboard. And can someone explain to me why you need to be running base Nickel against Zach Wilson anyway? Another excuse I was given last week too was basically the "Aaron Rodgers factor". OK, Zach Wilson is about as far as you can get from Aaron Rodgers at this point.
  24. If the offense isn't scoring almost at will, it seems the whole team struggles because of it. I had a feeling the 2nd half of last week was going to carry over to this week. Lots of people here flamed me for ringing alarm bells that the GB game plan exposed Frazier's use of Nickel as our base D all the time. The only responses I got were "we were winning by 17". OK, and as I said last week, Frazier is too stubborn and rigid to make the adjustments he needs to based on what the offense is doing. Jets clearly were focused on running, but Frazier is more worried about preventing the deep ball. Jets do a copy/paste of what GB was doing against our Nickel in the second half and Frazier wants to act like we are up the 17 pts we were last week. That is why he's not getting any phone calls for HC.
  25. They never switched it up. Against an aggressive D, you need to get the quick slants and screens going and there was almost no attempt to do that.
