see, I think it’s the complete opposite. To me it sounds like she is always giving the most basic and generic response possible. Tasker: I am really liking how much Spencer Brown has grown. He used to struggle in pass protection against speed rushers but he has held his own lately. He is turning into a complete pass and run blocker. Glab: Yes, Spencer Brown, Bills right tackle and a large intimidating force out there. Tasker: *Stares blankly at her*

The absolute worst talk-show host I have literally (and I mean literally), ever heard. The epitome of awful.

I think a good middleground would’ve been keeping it open air, but making the overhang extend further. I really don’t know why, other than cost, they made the overhang so dinky. I would’ve liked to seen a far reaching overhang, similar to what Tottenham did. Their entire field is open to the elements, but nearly every seat is covered. It also gives their stadium a bit more of an intimate feel inside. Our little dinky overhang doesn’t compare.

Thats fair.

All of the reasons I mentioned before. But if you’re looking for quantitative data, he is the 70th-something paid safety. Which would put him at the very bottom of all starting safeties.

Long explanation: I track player performance. And Hamlin's poor performance sort-of made me obsessed with him last season. Missed tackles, poor angles, slow speed, etc all hampered the defense. If you watch the All-22 the Bills spent most of the season covering for him by rolling coverage and keeping Hamlin as deep as humanly possible. If you go back and look at the big runs we gave up this year, nearly all of them can be traced back to Hamlin either screwing up an angle, missing a tackle, or being so deep that it took him a long time to get to the LOS and then by the time he got there, the RB had adjusted his angle which completely fooled Hamlin. I will say that his tackling improved from 2023-2024 and throughout 2024 - he made a few impressive open field tackles toward the end of last season. Short explanation: There is a reason why no-one else in the NFL wanted to sign him. We retained him on a 1 year, $2M contract.

Ahh gotcha. Sometimes im bad at picking up sarcasm. Agreed with you.

Cole isn’t a full year starter.

I would like to see who you think is worse than Hamlin. Bills constantly covered for him all year long. I said mid season that Hamlin may be the worst full-season starter at S in Bills history. I stand by it.

True. Here is a view from underneath if it helps.

Ty Johnson is the modern day Fred Jackson

I actually think thats a fair comparison. Loved Fred. -
If inflation is the culprit, why aren't the other stadiums that are under construction seeing the same overruns? The Titans stadium, announced at around the same time as ours and also currently under construction, has a current cost overrun of about 5%. The A's are also building a new stadium right, in expensive Vegas. Their cost-overruns are only 17% It sure seems like our nearly 40% cost overrun is staggeringly high compared to others.
-
I haven't read the full thread so perhaps you've already answered this, but is the sheer mass of overruns in this project unusual? I understand overruns are normal, but this seems to be a drastically high number of overrun. If I was Terry i'd be pissed at whoever estimated the original cost.

I don't know but its pretty darn steep. One saving grace is that there are only ~15 rows up there. So you're not falling far. The Ralph has what? 30-some rows in the upper deck?

AFC Championship Game- How do you feel now about it?
Einstein replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is where I am. I thought Joe Brady called a poor game right after it was over, and I still do. Never broke tendency, kept calling plays (or variations) that weren't working, left Cook on the sideline far too much, etc. The defense was not prepared for Mahomes using his legs either. Which was... something. -
Falcons fans must feel like crap. Imagine spending the most on offense and you score like 20 points per game.

So Josh does care where he is at NFL QB pay scale - from Beane
Einstein replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't want to derail this thread so this will be my last post on the topic. This is a fact: The NFLPA has zero power to stop a player from taking any contract he wants (above the minimum floor). It would be illegal for the NFLPA to even attempt to force the stoppage of a contract that the two parties agree to. What I think you are attempting to say is: In your mind, the league, NFLPA, players and agents all collude to prevent that from happening. That is also highly illegal and would immediately trigger antitrust litigation. Summary: If a player chose to, he could take a below market deal, and there is absolutely NOTHING the NFLPA could do about it. If they even attempted to stop it, the player could sue the NFLPA in federal cart and win BIG. You can continue to shout that the NFLPA would stop it until the cows come home, but it is simply not true. Or if you don't want to believe me, perhaps listen to the artificial intelligence that has a database far larger than you or I to pull from: -

Einstein replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, they could not. There is nothing they could do. Literally NOTHING (other than begging/pleading with the player). They have zero recourse to stop a player from accepting any contract they want. Zero, zip, nada, none. The league would LOVE that. The league is the owners - they WANT to reset the market lower. -

I don’t know why you keep saying this false idea. They have no choice. There is nothing they can do about it. If Allen wanted $1 million, the NFLPA could be pissed about it - but they have ZERO authority to stop it. Maybe in some fantasy land, the union would have that authority. But here, in the United States, unions are bound by law. . -

Einstein replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well of course. That is definitely the point (and the one I was making that you originally responded to). It has nothing to do with the union - they have no choice. The players get what the players want (if you’re a top player). -

The NFLPA has no choice. The National Labor Relations Act prevents unions from unduly restricting its members from accepting the contract of their desire. The union has no legal authority to block a player from accepting any deal. If Allen wanted to accept a $1 million dollar contract, there is absolutely nothing the NFLPA could do about it. -

This is not a thing. The NFLPA has no power to stop a player from taking less. Brady routinely took significantly less than his worth. Absurdly less, actually. I am 100% fine with the Allen contract. He is worth every penny. But this whole “he gave the team a discount” thing is nonsense. Florio broke it down and dispelled this myth over a week ago. The Prescott comparison others made don’t hold water either. Allen has a $55m/year from signing average. Prescotts is less than that. The misunderstanding where people think Prescott makes more comes from “new money” falsity. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/josh-allen-contract-highlights-the-flaws-of-the-new-money-fiction Allen’s contract is fair and totally fine. But he didn’t take a discount. -
See I think Von is a good example of Beane NOT taking risks. Beane could have traded for Von 5 months prior when the Rams got him. But Beane didnt want to give up the 2nd round pick. THAT would have been a risk. What happened? Rams trade for him and they win the Super Bowl. We needed ONE stop against Mahomes that year and I think Von probably provides that (he was still elite at the time). Instead, Beane didnt take the risk of the 2nd round pick and instead took the safer route of signing him in the offseason.
