  1. With all due respect do you forget Marino walked onto a team with a top coach and been to the superbowl with a team that had everything but a QB??? Kelly walked onto a team coached by Hank Bullogh and went 2-14 the 2 seasons before - or did you forget those FACTS???? Marino played with bad teams?> He walked onto a team that went to the Superbowl the year before and had everything but a QB !!! And was coached by a HOF Don Shula - yea Marino had it rough - and Kelly walking onto a 2-14 Hank Bullough team had it easy - incredible too read on a Bills board
  2. Really? Marino joined a team that the year before went to the Superbowl with everything but a QB and played in sunny Miami . Kelly joined a Bills team that went back to back 2-14 with snow & winds! Kelly had the better team?? - WTF????
  3. Matthews had 83 catches last year and is 25.... a tank is when you dump players for picks only or salary cap only - we added 3 players - all starters in NFL
  4. What 'tank' year ? We lose Sammy at WR but add Anquan Bolden and Matthews - compare this to Sammys 9 games . Its trading actual production for top potential and adding a high pick. The Darby deal was a flat out steal I think you have to get an OLB in those early rounds
  5. Agreed - he rode Secretariat and came in 2nd - you can throw Ralph in there too
  6. Exactly right - especially a team that gave up 300yrds rushing to Pitt and back to back 200yrd to Miami - dominating the edge while also giving some pass rush is a great addition
  7. They all averaged 24pts a game - and now adding a healthy Sammy & a 2nd rd draft pick to help at biggest weakness RT
  8. WGR Bulldog was such a moron today and continues the non-ending bashing of Tyrod. Interviewing Head coach he asks if Tyrod is now the #1 guy? You kidding me? Is Mccoy the #1 RB?
  9. Many of the mocks have the Chiefs selecting 21 - I expect them to take a step back this year and select closer to 10 - play the #1 most difficult schedule, released a top WR and used their #1 on a player not likely to contribute.
  10. Bills were robbed when he had that groin injury never to really recover from it
  11. Few other names: Pat Williams Ben Williams (9 seasons) Shane Conlon Sherman White (7 seasons) Antoine Winfield
  12. This is on tonight 9pm on MSG My List: OJ Simpson Jim Kelly Cookie Gilchrist Joe D Billy Shaw Thurman Thomas Joe Cribbs Jerry Butler Andre Reed Eric Moulds
  13. FWIW - Early observations and talks - Donald Jones indicated 2 players to watch for 1- RB Jon Williams will be the clear cut #2 2- OT Rookie Dion Dawkins shows knowledge & movement with expectation to win starting OT job
  14. An fyi - Chiefs have the 2bd hardest schedule in the NFL next year The 2017 strength of schedule rankings for each team 1. Denver Broncos: 147-107-2, .578 2. Kansas City Chiefs: 147-108-1, .576 3. Los Angeles Chargers: 145-110-1, .568 4. Oakland Raiders: 144-111-1 .564 5. Buffalo Bills: 143-112-1, .561
  15. This league is all about 2yr - 3 yr windows !!! Talent in place with cap situation etccc
  16. Played in Philly with Shady Maclin was ranked as the 93rd best player in the NFL by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.[
  17. I am in favor of this not so much because I am a hater of Whaley (somebody was a huge improvement in pro personnel over John Guy) - but I am a huge fan of giving the new regime all the comfort and talent that they wish for !!! Its then all on them - buck stops there ! A new guy like Mcdermott frankly does not have the time to decipher how good whaley and gang are.....but he already does know who is good from his prior experiences - so let him hire those he himself know are good
  18. Just added positions of each to help readers 2nd SS Budda Baker LB Jarred Davis CB Tre White OLB Zach Cunningham WR Zay Jones 3rd CB Sidney Jones DE Derek Rivers CB Eddie Jackson FS Justin Evans QB Josh Dobbs
  19. Because Marrone stormed out it had to be Whaleys solo pick? Maybe you missed the video of Marketer Russ Brandon (who had the power to select Marrone from Syracuse) pumping his fist in the air at the pick?
  20. FWIW ProFootball Weeklys book loves Jon Allen - says is a major building block for any franchise defense - can play DE or DT whether in 4-3 or 3-4.
  21. Interesting post thanks Can you expand on the policy of not drafting Texas players? There has been a theory that players there feel they reached their ultimate by playing at Texas and the NFL was only a paycheck after that - no heart/drive when they came to NFL. Or was it all due to Mike Williams draft?
  22. Kirby thanks much I always thought there is a great book waiting to be written focused on the many behind the scenes "what ifs" of various teams draft rooms over the years. I remember Bill Polian stating once he had an opportunity to land WR Tim Brown on draft day 1988 but didnt pull the trigger and he regretted - imagine Kelly throwing to Reed, Lofton and Tim Brown?
  23. Continuity year after year is the biggest key - run the same styles of offense and defense and your drafts will naturally improve because its all about players for schemes. Draft a Darius 3rd overall only to see Rex change the defense and ask him to be an overpaid nose guard freeing up lesser free agent linebackers to make plays? Move up in Rd2 to obtain a thumping MLB Ragland and now we prefer speed? etc etc etc The biggest thing I love about the new staff is they seem to be of a quality that would be in place for a long time - watch our drafts suddenly improve over the next 5 years
