  1. Not stopping the run was indeed a big part of the loss. Not stopping the pass was too. The Giants had several very long drives where they mixed run and pass. My point is that the other 10 players on defense did not step up enough either. I can recall Talley missing a crucial 3rd down tackle that keeps a long Giants scoring drive going. I recall Bennett dropping an interception. I recall Bruce Smith, on numerous occasions, failing to contain the run because he was taking inside moves to get to the QB. On offense we made mistakes as well. The Giants took the Andre Reed slant pattern out of the playbook and yet we kept going back to it. We came up short on 3rd down numerous times because of it. We passed too much against a 2 man line. Had we run Therman more they would have scrapped that formation and then we could have open up the passing lanes. Lots of reasons we lost but mostly it was superb coaching and execution by the more experienced opponent. We did exactly what they expected us to do and they executed their game plan perfectly.
  2. Good list to start with., let me expand it a bit. Fight for your legal rights when it comes to support. This is your right. You have a daughter, show her how to overcome adversity by your example, not by words. Don't bad mouth the EX, even though she deserves it. You have an opportunity somewhere within this painful place so don't waste your energy on that stuff. Broaden your network ... church, work, volunteer, kids school, verterans groups, ... there are lots of places to do this. A bigger better network will open opportunities for work and will help you to meet the right kind of people. Let your friends and family help if they are available to do so. Then do things to help them. Don't fall for the get drunk and have sex with lots of women stuff. That is temporary relief. Not the big picture solution. Excerise (if you can) and eat right ... you can reduce stress with exercise, even if it's walking, stretching, etc. Make it part of your daily routine and it will help you feel better. Not sure about your financial status but avoid credit. Simplify. Everyday at the end of the day, think of three things that made you happy. Keep it simple. Sounds silly I know but you will quickly see that there are many good things to keep you going forward. Simple things that we take for granted. You will get through it if that is your focus. Important to understand through it means you will not stay in the painful place. You will meet someone better if that is your focus In asking for help, you just started the process. Better days await you.
  3. There are many years of bad offense in Jauron's resume with both Chicago and Buffalo. His OC's and his approach to the game are terrible. It most likely hurt Losman to play under DJ but if he really is a good QB he will eventually land with an NFL team and prove it. (Ref: Jim Pluncket)
  4. Hmm. ???? Are you no longer a moderator? I don't think Trent is a "pu$$y" at all. He was proven to be willing to take hits and come back. He takes a beating playing behind a sub-standard line as you correctly state. Jauron and all of his OC's ran a plain vanilla Mickey Mouse offense. Chan Gailey is here and he was hired for his ability to run offenses and develop QBs. Trent will get another chance and I hope he can raise him game from last year were he lost his job to a less talented player in Fitzpatrick. Where I question Trent is in the leadership department. He appears to be a bit distant with his team mates. Some of the things he says make me think he does not have the same passion as the top tier QBs in the league. The Bills rallied around Fitz last year and they made more plays with him in the game. The coach, and the interim coach both felt that Fitz gave them a better chance of winning. These things make me wonder about Trent's confidence and leadership much more than whether he is tough enough. I sure hope Trent takes the next step and becomes a top QB in this league.
  5. Seems a bit harsh. I team with at least 5 Hall of Fame players on the field, plus a HoF coach, plus another 10 or so players that made pro bowls and Jeff Wright is getting the blame? Wow!
  6. I think that in the long run Wood will be the better player for us. I like his skill, his maturity, his leadership and his attitude. Lets not base the trade results on one season and a random event like the broken leg. Had Peters broke his leg would you be ready to declare that the Bills got the best of the trade? Lets look at this trade 5 years down the road and see. Nelson looks like a good TE to me. How can you criticize a fourth round pick for not cracking the starting line up? When Nelson did start start he graded out well. He needs work on his blocking but I like what I saw overall. He knows how to get open and he has excellent speed and hands. He could be great in the red zone if we can ever build a complete offense. Look forward.
  7. I think Trent improved steadily and then he started to regress but whatever. I'm not going to argue with a blanket statement.
  8. NGU - I like what you said (see bold above). The rebuilding of the Buffalo Bills will take a few years. I just don't think the FO can turn this team into an 11-5 team like Miami did two years ago. I would not mind seeing what Trent can do in a Jauron-less environment. Maybe Gailey can help him? If Trent does not cut it then we address QB next year. Meanwhile, lets add more talent to less risky areas and we are sure to fill some holes. Left Tackle and Nose Tackle are in dire need. It is difficult to draft to a "Best Player" philosophy when we have so many needs.
  9. Agree. Let's move on.
  10. You sure throw out a lot of history for 1 play. Yes - Royal screwed up and failed to make a routine play. If he makes the catch we still have to close out the game, something we have problems doing. Trent outplayed JP when he was given the chance That is why Losman lost his job. JP tried hard, he did good things for the city, etc, etc. For whatever reason his decision making on the field was poor and he did not establish himself as the leader of the offense. You use hindsight to see that Trent has regressed. I do not know why Trent has regressed so badly in the past season but I'll bet that working for 3 OC's in three years and playing behind that joke of an OL has a little bit to do with it.
  11. The trading of Whitner/Lynch never stops on TSW. If we trade Lynch we create another hole. If we trade Whitner we weaken a strength. I can only see trading one of these players if we get a solid starter at LT, WR, or NT in return. I am not talking about old players on the ir downside either, I am talking about young players with many years ahead. Trading either of them for draft picks is risky.
  12. Agree 100% LT is a priority in this draft.
  13. He was a solid fullback. Good blocker who could get the tough yards and even catch a few passes.
  14. Jack Kemp. San Diego Chargers, 1962. Kemp was a top prospect and they were pissed when Saban grabbed him.
  15. Great post and research. Don't aplogize for it. So, as a football fan, who you really think we will draft?
  16. Check my posts. I never said I was "excited" or I "think he could be something". Once again, a practice squad player is only "available" if the team that is going to acquire him puts him on their active 53 man roster. Don't know what you mean by available "for nothing". The acquireing team has to make an offer and the club that he is with has the right to counter it. What I did say is that I have no clue as to whether Brohm will be any good. I have only seen him play once and to be fair to Brohm he did not have much time to learn the system or practice with the team.
  17. Yes, lots of them. Lynch is not a bad player at all. Made the Pro Bowl in his second year, ... remember? He was a thug when we drafted him. It is the fault of the Bills front office for missing on the "character" thing.
  18. It is the same thing. It is the formation that we are talking about. What's difference what the roster position of a player is? You can call a player a safety or a LB, ar anything else. Take Bryon Scott in last years defense. When he lines up in the box we look like a 4-4. He even played LB. Eight in the box can look like 4-4, 3-5, or 5-3, etc. I have seen the Pats* use 2-6, and even 8 players standing.
  19. Nobody expected Kurt Warner to be the next Kurt Warner either. Vermeil was surprised, lucky, and very happy. Need I mention Brady? I don't know if Brohm will be good or not. I would like to see Gailey give him a chance. Thats all.
  20. Not true. The 8 in the box defense, where the strong safety essentially moves up to support the run, can be looked at as a 4-4 or a 5-3, depending on the base defense.
  21. Everybody on the those teams know that Joe did his best, often playing with a lousy cast. In the OJ years, when our offense was good, we had a mediocre defense. Not to mention that the AFC was stacked with the best teams in Pittsburgh, Miami and Oakland. In the Knox years, we had more balance and Joe Ferguson did everything he could to help the team win. Not sure were you are going with this?
  22. Good list. It sure looks like we need to draft LT and NT very early in this draft. A blocking TE and a better FB will help. Especially in the AFC East.
  23. Thanks. Coles is interesting. He could help us. Smart player.
  24. Another view: 1. He was released at the final cut deadline. Most teams have their roster set so it is common that younger players that get released at final cuts end up on their teams PS, not someone elses. There is very little movement of players after final cuts, epsecially young QB's which require a whole off-season of study to understand a system. 2. While on Practice squad you can be signed by any other team ... but only if that team puts you on their 53 man roster. Again, a rare move for a young QB because of the learning curve. 3. My points are intended to imply that just because he was on a practice squad and not pick up by another team, does not mean that the entire league thinks he is not a good prospect.
